Overview of the Directorate

The Education Directorate delivers the English-Speaking Union’s (ESU) education programmes, competitions and training, helping young people develop the confidence and skills to speak, listen, think critically and engage constructively with different points of view.

The ESU’s debating, public speaking and cultural exchange programmes aim to embed sustainable cultures of oracy in schools and empower young people to engage with the world. The Directorate works with schools and educational settings across England and Wales and with a pool of freelance Oracy Leaders to deliver its programmes.

Purpose of the Role

The Senior Education Coordinator – School Partnerships will help ensure young people across England and Wales develop essential oracy skills by supporting the sales of the ESU’s educational products. These include the ‘Discover Your Voice’ student oracy workshops and Teacher Oracy CPD sessions for schools and other educational settings.

The postholder will administer the sales process, responding to enquiries, converting warm leads into bookings and overseeing the delivery of workshops and training. The role requires someone who is proactive, motivated and confident working with a high degree of initiative.

Key Responsibilities

• Convert conversations with inbound and warm leads into confirmed workshop bookings

• Respond to and follow up on inbound leads and warm conversations, moving prospects through the sales pipeline

• Collaborate with the ESU Marketing Team and Director of Education to advise on the messaging and assets needed to promote the ESU’s education offers

• Manage workshop delivery, acting as the point of contact for Lead Teachers, appointing freelance Oracy Leaders and providing clear communication, support and resources

• Use Salesforce to manage programme delivery, maintain accurate account and communication records and report on sales pipelines

• Collect monitoring and evaluation data, including student surveys, teacher surveys and case studies

• Work closely with the ESU’s pool of Oracy Leaders, including communicating before and after workshops, booking staff onto delivery and liaising with Finance and HR where necessary

• When capacity allows, support other functions within the Education Programmes Team, including national and international public speaking, debate and performance competitions

• Undertake other relevant responsibilities as reasonably requested by the line manager, including communications, administration and resource design

Head of Support and Advocacy

The Head of Support and Advocacy provides operational leadership across We Are Survivors’ support and advocacy services. Working closely with the Service Director, Operations Director and Executive Team, the role ensures services are effective, well governed and meet the needs of survivors and their loved ones. This includes overseeing our trauma-informed, survivor-centred approach; monitoring service performance; safeguarding and record-keeping; and ensuring contractual commitments and quality standards are met. The role also represents the organisation in external partnerships and helps shape services in response to changes in policy, evidence and the needs of people with lived experience.

About You

Head of Support and Advocacy

You’ll be an experienced operational or clinical leader who is comfortable overseeing services that work with trauma, mental health and complex needs. You’ll understand how to balance compassionate, survivor-centred practice with effective governance, safeguarding, quality assurance and contractual performance. Experience of working with men, sexual harms or people with lived experience would be valuable, alongside the ability to build strong relationships with staff, partners and stakeholders. Most importantly, you’ll be someone who can lead with clarity, curiosity and care while helping services continue to learn and improve.

THE ROLE

We are seeking a highly organised, agile and structured Senior Programmes Manager to lead the operational planning, project management and execution of our flagship educational programmes. In this role, you will be the operational engine behind multiple cross-departmental projects, with a focus on meeting the needs of our global teachers and students, as well as funders.

In this fixed-term role you will work closely with our educational content leads, designers and external stakeholders to ensure our high-impact classroom resources and live events are delivered seamlessly, on time and to the highest standard. Rather than drafting the pedagogy yourself, you will manage the project lifecycles, coordinate workflow across internal and external teams and optimise the systems that allow our world-class educational programmes to reach over 1 million young people globally.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Project and operational management

• Manage the Topical Talk Leadership for Change Prize, Live Lessons, curriculum modules and student workshops end-to-end: from roadmaps and capacity mapping through to impact and evaluation
• Project manage the filming required for our content delivery, including the booking and management of experts, production teams and Economist colleagues
• Track and coordinate progress across content creators, graphic designers, proofreaders and editors to ensure all deliverables meet tight production deadlines
• Balance team workloads across concurrent educational projects and plan capacity for incoming projects
• Continuously refine workflow processes to streamline resource creation and evaluation

Programme governance and evaluation

• Partner with the Director of Programmes to track key performance indicators (KPIs), evaluate audience reach and maintain rigorous data collection for monitoring and evaluating our programmes
• Proactively identify bottlenecks, content risks or scheduling delays, implementing swift mitigation strategies to keep delivery on track

Live Lesson and workshop operations

• Manage the end-to-end operational execution of student workshops and our Live Lessons – handling scheduling, platform setups and logistics
• Coordinate school visits for content testing and observation, ensuring all safeguarding and operational requirements are fully met

Stakeholder and relationship coordination

• Serve as the primary operational point of contact for external topic experts, guest contributors, and editorial contributors from The Economist Group
• Maintain clear lines of communication between the programmes team, marketing, operations and external partners to ensure projects are aligned with strategic aims
• Manage external freelance contractors and vendors, with support from the administrative officer

Head of Finance

The Head of Finance will lead the day-to-day finance function, ensuring our financial information is accurate, timely and useful. The role will oversee financial reporting, controls, compliance, payroll, budgeting and forecasting, while managing and developing the finance team. The postholder will work closely with budget holders and senior leaders to support good financial decision-making across the organisation. The role will also provide oversight of key operational areas, including premises, health and safety, equipment and outsourced technology support.

In the first 6–12 months, the postholder will be expected to strengthen monthly reporting, improve budget holder support, maintain clear financial controls, support the annual audit and help embed effective finance processes across the organisation.

Financial responsibilities

· Ensure that all financial data is accurately recorded, maintained and reported in accordance with relevant accounting standards and guidelines

· Ensure compliance with relevant financial, tax and statutory obligations, including VAT, PAYE and other reporting requirements

About the role

Reporting in to the Partnership and Business Development Lead, the Government, Multilateral and Climate Funding Manager is responsible for driving sustained growth in income and impact outcomes by actively engaging and cultivating strong relationships with existing and new institutional and climate funding partners.

The role co-creates and leads bidding with MCCs and Global Programmes teams, securing multi-year, multi-million government, multilateral, and climate funding awards.

The post-holder will co-lead and deliver the government, multilateral and climate funding strategy, positioning Christian Aid and its partners to access and scale climate finance, including adaptation, resilience, loss and damage, and nature-based solutions funding.

The role ensures a strong long-term pipeline of funding opportunities, aligned to organisational priorities and climate justice commitments, maximising both income and programme impact.

Some of the main areas of responsibility for the Government, Multilateral and Climate Funding Manager include:

• Working with the Partnerships and Business Development Lead and Heads of Impact to implement an ambitious long-term strategic framework to enhance engagement and build strong partnerships with Government, Multilateral and Climate Funding Partners (including Global Climate Funds such as the Green Climate Fund and Adaptation Fund, UN agencies, World Bank climate windows, Regional Development Banks, and bilateral donors including UK and devolved Governments, European and other Governments), setting clear objectives and key areas for collaboration, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and climate justice priorities.
• Acquire, develop and retain key Government, Multilateral and Climate Funder relationships and strategic partnerships by building a wide network of contacts across Government Departments, development finance institutions, and climate finance mechanisms, ensuring sustained engagement and strong positioning over time.
• Build and maintain a forward-looking, multi-year pipeline of institutional and climate funding opportunities, identifying emerging climate finance trends and positioning Christian Aid to access strategic funding, collaborating closely with CA Ireland and global teams to maximise funding growth.
• Oversee agreed Supplier Framework Agreements, including those linked to climate and environment programming, working with MCC Business Development Managers in taking forward pipeline opportunities.
• Collaborate across the Partnerships and Business Development Team and MCC BD Team on tenders and grants, leading bid preparation and ensuring alignment with funding requirements, including integration of climate considerations and compliance with donor requirements (e.g. climate rationale, safeguards, and reporting).
• Collaborate with Impact colleagues to onboard new programmes, including those funded through climate finance mechanisms, working with MCC Contracts and Portfolio Managers to ensure readiness for delivery and compliance requirements.
• Develop and proactively pitch new strategic Signature Programmes, including climate-focused and climate-integrated programmes, in agreement with Directors and MCCs.
• Strengthen internal capability by supporting colleagues to integrate climate considerations into programme design and funding approaches, sharing knowledge and best practice on climate funding requirements.
• Represent Christian Aid externally, strengthening organisational visibility and positioning within climate finance spaces.
• This level role may include line management responsibilities of an adviser level role.

The Opportunity

This is a senior leadership appointment, reporting to the Director of Resources and leading a Finance team of around nine, including the payroll function. The Senior Legal Counsel is the first port of call for colleagues putting together and advising on new legal arrangements and documenting our leading health partnerships and fundraising activities. The Senior Legal Counsel works with the Foundation’s Legal team in providing legal advice and guidance for the Foundation’s innovative, impact-led programmes and activities, supporting our fundraising team alongside our fundraising compliance manager, and our work with Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. This role also assists with varied internal governance and compliance matters. 

Key Responsibilities 

Charitable Partnerships (Impact on Urban Health) 

• Identify relevant legal and compliance considerations on projects and activities within the IoUH team and work with IoUH to put in place appropriate mechanisms or policies to manage issues that are identified. 
• Structure and assist colleagues with drafting and negotiating agreements for a wide variety of charitable partnerships, including commercial contracts, grants, IP licences, novel investment models, revenue-sharing arrangements and data agreements. 
• Act as a thought partner with the team to advise on the structuring, legal risks and strategic implications of partnerships and future opportunities. 
• Maintain and appropriately file correspondence and documentation relating to commercial contracts. 

Fundraising (Charities)

• Identify and advise on relevant legal and regulatory considerations in respect of our fundraising activities and work with our fundraising compliance manager and the fundraising team to ensure our fundraising activities are carried out in accordance with the relevant regulations.
• Drafting and supporting colleagues in negotiating a variety of fundraising agreements, including charity of the year agreements, commercial participation agreements, sponsorship agreements and pledge agreements.
• Advise on relevant governance matters relating to fundraising activities.
• Work closely with our fundraising compliance manager to ensure data protection aspects of our fundraising activities are managed appropriately. 

Procedure and Policy Efficiencies

• Draft, maintain and update our internal guidelines, policies and standard-form documents. 
• Create policy and process efficiencies. 
• Act as deputy data protection lead, supporting the primary data protection lead through providing training to colleagues and ensuring the Foundation’s mandated practice is understood and followed. 

Tailored Partnerships 

• Consider legal considerations, and appropriate processes, for working with certain partners (e.g. regulatory, private gain, data protection, policy), including advising on due diligence procedures and tailoring our standard form templates. 
• Work with cross-functional stakeholders on longer-term projects to change our partnership models to cede power to the communities we work with, whilst balancing this against our charity law obligations. 

Cross-Functional Work 

• Work with cross-functional stakeholders, including Policy, Influencing & Communications, Data, Evaluation & Learning and the Executive Team to advise on cross-team collaboration, opportunities, issues and risks relating to our charitable partnerships. 
• Assist teams such as Endowment, Systems, and People & Culture on their legal needs, including drafting, negotiating and agreeing documents and being the first port-of-call for a variety of legal issues. 
• Lead on specific projects for either individual directorates or cross-directorate projects. 
• Act as business partner to the Fundraising teams on a variety of issues, including advising and supporting them with drafting, negotiating and advising on a wide range of fundraising agreements. 
• Act as business partner to the Endowment team, ensuring they have the legal support required for the smooth running of their activities. 

Governance and Legal 

• Act as Company Secretary for the Foundation’s three subsidiary companies. 
• Work with the Foundation’s Legal Director & Company Secretary in advising colleagues on legal and governance matters.  
• Undertake research into specific legal issues or matters of best practice and provide training to Legal team colleagues on these issues. 
• Identify need for, organise and run training sessions on key legal and compliance issues to Foundation staff. 
• Deputise for the Legal Director & Company Secretary when required.

YEF Detached Youth Work Project Lead

At M13 Youth Project, we believe every young person deserves trusted adults who believe in them, walk alongside them and help them discover who they are, what they have to offer and the difference they can make. For over 30 years, we've built those relationships through detached youth work - meeting young people where they choose to be, listening deeply and creating opportunities for belonging, belief and hope.

We're now looking for an experienced Detached Youth Work Project Lead to join our team and play a central role in one of the UK's most ambitious detached youth work research pilots.

M13 is leading the Greater Manchester consortium delivering the Youth Endowment Fund (YEF) Detached Youth Work Pilot. The Pilot aims to build a strong evidence base for researching detached youth work, combining outstanding frontline practice with rigorous evaluation to shape the future of youth work nationally.

Reporting to the Founding Director, you'll provide the day-to-day leadership of M13's delivery of the pilot. You'll lead a small team of detached youth workers, coordinate operational delivery across intervention neighbourhoods and ensure the project is delivered safely, consistently and in line with the YEF Shared Practice Model and research requirements.

This is first and foremost a practice leadership role. You'll spend much of your week out in parks, streets and neighbourhoods, building trusted relationships with young people through high-quality detached youth work. Alongside this, you'll supervise and support colleagues, oversee monitoring and reporting, build positive relationships with community members and partner organisations, and, together with the Founding Director, work closely with the Centre for Evidence and Implementation (CEI) and consortium partners to ensure the successful delivery of the project.

We're looking for someone who is an experienced detached youth worker, confident leading others and passionate about relational practice. You'll be organised, reflective and proactive, with experience of supervising staff, coordinating projects, maintaining high-quality records and working collaboratively with partners. Most importantly, you'll share our belief that relationships are the foundation for meaningful change.

This is a 35-hour per week, office- and community-based role. (M13's full-time week is 37.5 hours). Your week will include six detached youth work sessions (three afternoons and three evenings), alongside team leadership, partnership working, supervision, monitoring and project coordination. Some flexibility can be offered around when office-based work is undertaken, where operationally possible.
