In July 2026, following almost two and a half years of work and nearly two decades as a Faculty, we became the College of Intensive Care Medicine: an independent charity with our own Board of Trustees, governance and voice. Reaching this point has been a significant achievement. Now comes the next chapter: building an organisation that is genuinely independent, financially sustainable and equipped to lead the specialty for the future.
This role sits at the heart of that transformation.
Organisationally, we are creating a College from what was previously a faculty function – establishing our own culture, values, policies, systems and operating model while managing a careful and constructive separation from the Royal College of Anaesthetists (RCoA), our long-standing host and continuing close partner.
Financially, we begin with an established income base, derived predominantly from subscriptions and examinations. The Executive Director will lead the development of a more diverse and resilient financial model, strengthening income and ensuring long-term sustainability without compromising our charitable purpose, governance or commitment to members.
For our people, we need to build our own workforce and operating model while supporting colleagues through a genuine change in employer and organisational identity. This will require clarity, empathy and strong leadership – alongside an unwavering focus on maintaining the services that almost 5,000 members rely on.
THE ROLE
We are therefore looking for an Executive Director who has successfully led organisations through significant transformation; who understands how to build financial sustainability and diversify income; and who can bring people with them through complex and meaningful change.
You will bring the strategic and financial credibility to earn the confidence of our Trustees and partners at the RCoA, alongside the emotional intelligence and collaborative leadership needed to unite staff, members and the wider clinical community behind the College’s future.
This is a rare opportunity to shape a new professional College at the moment of its creation: establishing its identity, culture and operating model while building the foundations for long-term independence and impact.

Location: Global Lumos role based in the UK
Location type: Hybrid
Reporting to: Chief Programmes and Advocacy Officer
Annual salary: £90,000 – £100,000 GBP
Closing date: Monday, 12th October, 9:00 am CET
Background
Lumos Foundation works to realise every child’s right to a family by transforming care systems around the world. Our vision is a world in which all children grow up in safe and loving families within supported communities.
Founded in 2005 by author J.K. Rowling, Lumos partners with governments, civil society and young people with lived experience to transform care systems globally and advocate for family-based solutions that help children thrive. We ensure that families receive the support they need to stay together or reunite, and that children grow up in family-based settings such as foster or kinship care, not institutions.
Despite clear evidence of the harms of institutionalisation, more than five million children worldwide continue to live in institutions. And a much larger number of children are at risk of family breakdown and separation – those living in poverty, experiencing domestic violence and abuse, and living in countries affected by conflict.
We are ambitious for children’s safety. In the next ten years, Lumos will enable 500K children in care to return to family-based care, while preventing ten million more children from experiencing family breakdown and separation – so that they can thrive in their own families. Working with local, national, and global partners, Lumos supports government-led transformation of childcare systems across Asia, Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America- driving systemic and sustainable change.
Lumos’ ambition for children is significant and will require the organisation and its partners to work in new ways – with a pace, drive and urgency that this moment demands – and that children everywhere deserve.
Lumos’ success will continue to be based not just on what we do, but on how we do it – our values. We embrace collaboration. We strive for excellence. We show respect. We always care. And we are passionate. We are Lumos.

- Help Lumos increase its impact and geographical reach without relying solely on establishing traditional country-office structures.
Make evidence central to how we work
- Hold senior accountability for programme quality, monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning across the global portfolio.
- Continue to strengthen Lumos’ ability to demonstrate system-level change, using credible evidence and data to understand what works and how successful approaches can be adapted or scaled.
- Ensure evidence and learning from delivery, inform programme strategy, advocacy, partnerships, fundraising and future investment.
Lead across the organisation and beyond
- Work closely with Finance, People & Operations, Safeguarding, Safety & Security and other specialist functions to ensure programmes are effectively supported, responsibly managed and delivered safely.
- Champion meaningful participation and leadership of children, young people and people with lived experience across programme design, delivery and learning.
- Act as a senior organisational leader and member of the Executive Team, working closely with the Chief Programmes and Advocacy Officer, representing Lumos with governments, partners and funders, and contributing programme and country perspectives to wider organisational decisions.
What success looks like
- Exceptional delivery - a high-quality global portfolio delivering measurable results with strong financial, organisational and donor accountability.

EASST is an international NGO promoting road safety and sustainable mobility across Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
We believe local voices are essential to saving lives and bringing lasting change so we form long term partnerships with local civil society organisations, uniting their on-the-ground knowledge with national and international expertise to deliver evidence-based solutions that are grounded in the local reality.
Across our region, fatality rates are more than twice the European average and can cost up to 4% GDP, yet road safety still doesn't get the priority or investment it needs.
Today, rapidly escalating vehicle numbers are straining urban infrastructure, challenging existing road safety frameworks, and contributing to poor air quality and higher carbon emissions.
Our projects are focused on long-term change, connecting the dots between road safety and sustainable mobility and supporting communities in the transition toward safer, more inclusive transport networks that reduce casualties, strengthen climate resilience, and support sustainable economic growth.
EASST also operates EASST Expertise Ltd, an international road safety consultancy and wholly owned trading subsidiary. EASST Expertise draws on a wide network of specialists to support, advise and manage road safety projects across the world, with all surplus revenues returned to support EASST's charitable work.
Why join EASST?
EASST is a small organisation, and this is a varied role with significant responsibility. You will have the opportunity to work across the full project cycle, from developing new ideas and proposals through to delivery, evaluation and learning. You will work directly with our partners across the region, international experts and major funders, and have real scope to influence how our programmes develop.
Working in a small team means being prepared to get involved across different areas of our work and to take responsibility when needed. In return, the role offers considerable autonomy and variety, and the opportunity to see the direct impact of your work.

Reporting to the Director General, you will take responsibility for projects across their full lifecycle – from project development and planning through to delivery, monitoring, reporting and evaluation.
Working closely with our network of local civil society partners, you will ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget and to a high technical standard. You will build strong, trusted relationships with our local civil society partners, support their organisational and technical development, and combine their on-the-ground knowledge with international technical expertise to influence policy and practice.
This is a hands-on role in a small organisation. Alongside managing programmes, you will contribute to new business development, organisational strategy and wider EASST activities as needed.
Key responsibilities

- Manage project budgets and financial compliance, working with the Director of Operations and Finance to monitor spend and forecast against donor rules.
- Identify and manage programmatic, financial, reputational and safeguarding risks, ensuring compliance with EASST's policies throughout.

This is a pivotal role for an accomplished programme-management professional who can bring people, plans, budgets and evidence together to keep ambitious projects moving forward. Working across countries, disciplines and organisational functions, you will help ensure that our programmes are delivered to a high standard, on time, within budget and in accordance with donor requirements.
You do not need to be a specialist in childcare reform. What matters most is your strong track record of managing large, restricted-funded international programmes and your ability to navigate complexity with clarity, sound judgement and a collaborative approach.
About Lumos
Lumos works to realise every child’s right to a family by transforming care systems around the world. Our vision is a world in which all children grow up in safe and loving families, supported by their communities.
Working alongside governments, civil society organisations and young people with lived experience, we help families stay together or reunite and support the transition from institutional to family- and community-based care.
Over the next 10 years, Lumos aims to enable 500,000 children in care to return to family-based care and help prevent 10 million children from experiencing family breakdown and separation. Achieving this ambition requires pace, collaboration and excellent programme delivery—and this role will make an important contribution.
The role
Reporting to the Director of Programme Delivery, you will provide day-to-day coordination, monitoring and support across a portfolio of international projects.
Your principal focus will be coordinating a major multi-country, multi-year programme across multiple participating countries. You will work closely with Country Directors, project teams, technical and MEAL colleagues, Fundraising, Finance and People teams, as well as donors and delivery partners.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating multi-country project delivery against agreed workplans, budgets, results frameworks and donor requirements
- Maintaining clear project plans, risk registers, dashboards, logframes and delivery trackers
- Identifying risks, delays and bottlenecks early and helping teams find practical solutions
- Managing budgets, forecasts and expenditure, including donor financial reporting and budget realignments
- Supporting country teams and partners to strengthen their project and financial-management capacity
- Managing or matrix-managing project colleagues across different countries and disciplines
- Coordinating monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning activities, ensuring that reliable evidence informs delivery
- Supporting high-quality narrative and results reporting in collaboration with grant-management colleagues
- Monitoring sub-awards, sub-grants and partner compliance
- Supporting donor monitoring visits, audits, procurement and grant-compliance processes
- Contributing to proposals and concept notes for future institutional funding
- Ensuring safeguarding is embedded effectively across the projects you coordinate
- Travelling internationally when required to support programme delivery
As projects begin, evolve and close, you will work flexibly across the wider portfolio, providing dependable coordination wherever it is most needed.
About you
You will bring significant experience coordinating large, restricted-funded international programmes, ideally valued at more than £1 million per year. This may have been gained within international development, child protection, education, health, WASH or another related field.
You will also bring:
- A recognised project-management qualification and strong practical expertise in work planning, risk management and multi-stakeholder coordination
- Experience delivering single- or multi-country projects funded by institutional donors such as USAID, FCDO, the Dutch Government or major foundations
- Strong financial-management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, expenditure monitoring and donor compliance
- Experience of complex institutional-donor grant requirements, or the ability to apply closely related experience
- Experience managing or matrix-managing multidisciplinary and geographically dispersed teams
- Strong knowledge of results frameworks, indicators, monitoring and donor reporting
- Experience overseeing sub-awards, sub-grants, consortium partners or other delivery partners
- Excellent organisation, analysis and problem-solving skills
- The ability to remain calm, make sound decisions and manage competing priorities
- Excellent written and spoken English; Spanish, Romanian, Ukrainian or Arabic would be an advantage
- A genuine commitment to children’s rights and to Lumos’ mission and values
You will be a collaborative and culturally sensitive communicator who builds trusted relationships across teams, countries and professional disciplines.
You will combine close attention to detail with the ability to see the wider picture and will be comfortable creating structure and momentum in a complex international environment.
Why join Lumos?
This is an opportunity to apply your programme-management expertise to work with meaningful, lasting impact. You will collaborate with committed colleagues and partners around the world, helping to strengthen programmes designed to ensure that children can grow up in safe, loving families.
