Volunteer and Communities Coordinator

Lightyear Foundation is an ambitious, national, disabled-led charity creating accessible and inclusive STEM opportunities for D/deaf, disabled and neurodivergent children and young people. 

We are looking for an organised, friendly and enthusiastic Volunteer and Communities Coordinator to help us involve and support volunteers, our Youth Group and wider communities in our work.

This is a new part-time role. You will help recruit and onboard volunteers, keep in touch with them, coordinate practical arrangements and make sure people have the information and support they need to contribute confidently.

You will also support our Youth Group and wider community involvement, helping create accessible and welcoming ways for D/deaf, disabled and neurodivergent young people and others to get involved in Breaking Barriers with STEM and our wider work.

You don't need to come from a traditional volunteer-management background. We are interested in people with strong organisational and people skills who are welcoming, reliable and committed to inclusion and accessibility. Relevant experience might come from employment, volunteering, community involvement or other parts of your life.

The Role:

• Part-time - 7 hours per week

• Home-based within the UK, with travel as required

• Salary: £24,100 - £27,700 FTE, pro rata for 7 hours per week

• Initial two-year contract
