As a Domestic Abuse Practitioner, you’ll play a vital role in helping individuals and families affected by domestic abuse take their first steps toward safety, recovery, and independence. You’ll be the first point of contact for those in crisis—offering compassionate, practical, and emotional support that makes a real difference.

About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen within SafeNet for a Domestic Abuse Practitioner.

Using your experience of delivering support or recovery services, you will provide high quality and pro-active front line service to victims of domestic abuse helping to keep them safe. You will be assessing risk, completing safety and support planning, and ensuring the service offer is accessible and inclusive to all.

About the service 

We are a specialist team working within the Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) sector, committed to delivering trauma-informed, survivor-led support. Our services are shaped by the Women’s Aid Federation of England (WAFE) National Quality Standards and guided by the Domestic Abuse Act 2021, which recognises the impact of abuse on both adults and children. We work collaboratively to provide safe, inclusive, and empowering support that reflects the diverse experiences of survivors and promotes long-term recovery and independence.

Working in a busy sector you will be part of a frontline refuge team working in a fast paced environment supporting victims and survivors of domestic abuse. The team are passionate about creating safe welcoming environments that supports all residents, children and colleagues. A team who continually adapt to the variations of work tasks/environments, who are service focused, resilient, exercise good judgement to make the right decisions and take into consideration everyone’s individual needs to create a genuine team spirit.

About the role

As a Children’s Domestic Violence Advocate (CHIDVA), you will safeguard and support children and young people affected by domestic abuse across the Continuum of Need, including Child Protection. You will deliver child-centred 1:1 and group interventions, complete child-focused risk assessments and safety plans, and ensure children and young people’s voices shape the support they receive. Working with partner agencies (including through MARAC), you will contribute to coordinated responses that improve safety, wellbeing and long-term resilience.

This exciting role links our 350+ community organisations that receive food from us — known as our Community Food Members (CFMs) — with our thriving and fast-paced food operation. As the Food & Membership Operations Coordinator, you will work across the charity with the Food, Membership and Warehouse Teams, as well as our large and diverse volunteer community, to ensure CFM organisations receive a smooth, reliable and high-quality service each week.

The purpose of this role is to strengthen the connection between food supply, warehouse capacity and member demand. Acting as a key cross-functional coordinator, you will help ensure that surplus food flows efficiently into the organisation and out to the communities who need it. You will support both food-sourcing and membership functions, helping resolve issues quickly, improving communication, maintaining accurate data, and ensuring operational plans are aligned across teams.

Reporting to the Food Manager, with a dotted line to the Membership Manager, this role is central to improving collaboration across the organisation and ensuring FareShare South West delivers a safe, efficient and impactful service to frontline community organisations across the region.

1) Cross-Functional Coordination

• Support daily and weekly communication between Food, Membership and Operations regarding supply and membership demand 
• Maintain awareness of the food pipeline, providing timely updates on incoming supply, changes, restraints, gluts or shortages.
• Assist the Food Manager and Membership Managers with aligning food allocation planning to member needs, operational realities and transport schedules.
• Help coordinate solutions to operational challenges (e.g., quality issues, storage constraints, cancellations, short-dated stock).

2) Food Sourcing Support

• Support the Food Manager with local food sourcing activity, particularly in administration, supplier updates and basic relationship maintenance.
• Be a point of contact for day-to-day supplier communication, ensuring timely responses and accurate information flow
• Help maintain accurate sourcing records and documentation, including volumes, quality notes and engagement history.
• Support awareness-raising activities about FSSW’s surplus redistribution capability (e.g., events, promotional updates).
• Assist with capturing local supply opportunities and best practice shared through the FareShare Network and escalating them to the Food Manager.

3) Member Support & Service Delivery

• Support member onboarding, offboarding, account updates, queries, complaints and general membership administration.
• Lead on resolving daily member-facing issues, including food quality concerns and product recalls, escalating where appropriate.
• Support food allocation writing, ensuring allocations reflect supply, need and warehouse capacity.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date member information, including delivery instructions, profiles and seasonal variations.
• Support membership-related campaigns, events and targeted projects (e.g., HAF, bolt-on models, piloted services).
• Communicate supply changes, special offers and gluts/shortages clearly to members in coordination with relevant teams.

4) Data, CRM & Reporting

• Maintain accurate member records in Salesforce and ensure data integrity across systems.
• Support reporting for funders, SLT and internal operational updates, including supply, allocations, member engagement and service metrics.
• Track and summarise recurring issues (e.g., cancellations, quality problems, demand spikes) to support decision-making.
• Contribute to KPI monitoring across both Membership and Food functions.

5) Compliance, Food Safety & Member Standards

• Operate in accordance with the FareShare Food Safety Manual and maintain required training.
• Support documentation for community food member (CFM) compliance, including kitchen checks, food safety standards and follow-up actions.
• Conduct in-person compliance visits with member organisations as required.
• Provide administrative support for product recalls, safety notices and compliance related communication.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

• Experience or knowledge working in an operational, coordination or customer/member support role
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.

About the role

As Service Manager – Safe Accommodation, you will lead the operational delivery of refuge and other safe accommodation services for adult survivors, children and young people. Working closely with the Area Operational Lead and as part of the Senior Leadership Team, you will provide practical, values-led leadership to frontline teams, ensure accommodation is safe, well-managed and responsive, and oversee high-quality, trauma-informed and survivor-led support. You will also play a key role in housing management, performance oversight, partnership working and ensuring services remain compliant, effective and sustainable.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day operational delivery of refuge and safe accommodation services, ensuring support is safe, timely, trauma-informed and survivor-led.

• Provide effective leadership, supervision, reflective practice and case management oversight to staff, supporting wellbeing, accountability and professional development.

• Oversee referrals, admissions, allocations and move-on processes to ensure survivors receive an appropriate, equitable and responsive service, with risk managed effectively throughout their stay.

• Monitor service quality, performance, occupancy, voids and outcomes through audits, data, survivor feedback and reporting, and use this insight to drive continuous improvement.

• Ensure compliance with safeguarding, housing management, health and safety, legal, contractual and organisational requirements, maintaining accurate oversight of governance and risk.

• Build and maintain strong partnerships with statutory, voluntary and community organisations to strengthen referral pathways into and out of safe accommodation and improve outcomes for survivors.

• Plan rotas, cover arrangements and on-site presence to ensure safe staffing levels across services, including 24-hour provision and out-of-hours on-call support where required.
• Contribute to strategic development, identifying emerging need, supporting service improvement and helping to shape high-quality, inclusive and psychologically informed accommodation-based support.

What we are looking for

• Trauma‑informed women’s services
• Mental health or psychologically informed environments (PIE)
• Housing or supported accommodation with complex needs

Essential:

• Experience of managing or leading teams within domestic abuse, housing, supported accommodation, social care or a related support environment.
• Strong knowledge of domestic abuse, trauma-informed practice, safe accommodation, safeguarding for adults and children, and risk management in complex cases.
• Ability to provide effective supervision, case oversight and reflective support that promotes staff wellbeing, professional curiosity and high-quality accommodation-based practice.
• Experience of performance monitoring, report writing and using data, feedback, occupancy information and outcomes to support service improvement.
• Ability to build positive working relationships with statutory, voluntary and community partners and represent the organisation confidently in multi-agency settings.
• Excellent communication, organisational and IT skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, coordinate rotas and maintain accurate records and reporting.
• Commitment to equality, inclusion and survivor-led practice, with the ability to model Safenet and Calico values in day-to-day leadership.

Desirable:

• ILM, CMI or another relevant management qualification, or evidence of continued professional development in leadership.
• Experience of service development, project delivery, change management or supporting new initiatives within refuge, housing or support service settings.
• Knowledge of Women’s Aid National Quality Standards, safe accommodation duties and relevant legislation and frameworks relating to domestic abuse, housing and safeguarding.
• Understanding of budget monitoring, contract requirements, housing-related processes or income maximisation within a commissioned or grant-funded service.
