Effective financial control is central to our strategy and operating model. The finance officer plays an essential role in maintaining control over our finances and operations. You will process and monitor financial transactions, liaise with our payroll bureau regarding staff payroll and pensions and support the Head of finance. You will be experienced in using Dynamics 365 Business Central as an accounting system.

This is a part-time role for two days a week (0.4FTE), with flexibility about when the hours are worked. It's a hybrid role, working from home and from our office. You will report to our Head of finance. You will also work with all staff on financial matters including personal and credit card expenses, central and project income and expenditure, and processing of payroll by liaising with our external bureau.

About the role

We are looking for a friendly, proactive Activities and Events Worker to join our team. This is a varied and rewarding role at the heart of our organisation, combining front-of-house responsibilities with hands-on support for activities, events, and community engagement.

You will often be the first point of contact for service users, visitors, and partners, helping to ensure everyone feels welcome and supported. Alongside this, you’ll help deliver inclusive activities and events, support volunteers, and help us share our impact with the wider community.

Key responsibilities

• Act as a welcoming first point of contact, responding to enquiries in a helpful and timely way
• Provide information about Walthew House services and signpost people to appropriate support
• Support the planning and delivery of accessible activities and events
• Help ensure all sessions are inclusive for people with sensory loss
• Prepare rooms for activities and external hire, including refreshments where needed
• Work with volunteers, supporting recruitment, induction, and day-to-day engagement
• Contribute ideas for new activities that meet the needs of our community
• Support fundraising initiatives and promotional activities
• Assist with social media, website content, and printed communications
• Gather stories, feedback, and photos to demonstrate our impact
• Maintain accurate records and monitoring data
• Follow safeguarding, health & safety, and data protection policies at all times
• Act as a designated First Aider (training provided if needed)

About you

We’re looking for someone who is approachable, organised, and passionate about inclusion.

You will bring:

• Experience in a customer-facing, community, or support role
• Experience of supporting activities or events
• Strong communication skills and the ability to engage a wide range of people
• A commitment to inclusion, accessibility, and equality
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail
• Confidence using IT systems, including email, databases, and social media

You’ll also be:

• Friendly, empathetic, and welcoming
• Proactive and able to use your initiative
• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
• Flexible and willing to support occasional evening or weekend work (TOIL provided)

Experience of working with people with sensory loss, in a charity setting, or supporting fundraising activities would be an advantage, but is not essential.

About This Job

This is an exciting training role in Army Cadet Headquarters responsible for the governance of risk in the Army Cadets.

In this critical organisational safety role, you will both generate medical risk assessments and assure those generated by others. You will ensure appropriate medical governance and compliance processes are in place, including identifying organisational clinical risks and recommending appropriate policies. You will oversee incident reporting and trend analysis to support continuous improvement. This will include developing systems and reporting frameworks to provide a clear understanding of the organisation’s medical risk profile and supporting the volunteer team delivering advanced skills training to highly qualified first aiders.

Essential Skills

· Have a sound understanding of the role of medical support in the Army Cadets

· Hold an accredited assessing qualification

· Evidence of continuing personal and professional development

· Understand the legislative requirements for First Aid provision as set out by the HSE

· Understand legislative restrictions on medical scopes of practice.

Location: Manchester

• In-school project delivery Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursday with travel costs covered
• Hybrid working for the remainder of your time – choose to work from home or access co-working spaces across the city
• Manchester team co-working days – currently twice a month but some team members choose to meet up more regularly

Hours: 30 hours per week, Tuesday – Friday

• Standard hours 9:00-17:30with flexibility offered where possible
• Working hours to shift, approximately 11:00-19:30, where schools prefer sessions in our later timeslot. We do not currently have any later projects and would not allocate more than 2 in a week

Annual Leave: 29 days plus bank holidays pro rata (23 days for 0.8 FTE) with a maximum of 4 days to be taken in school term time
