Gas compliance officer jobs

We are seeking an organised and proactive Facilities Manager to lead the proactive maintenance of our hostel, day centre, offices and residential properties. This is a vital role combining building management, health and safety compliance and development of our estate in alignment with our strategic plan.

You will have a good practical knowledge of building maintenance and ensure our facility remains a safe, functional and welcoming environment for residents, visitors and staff alike.

Key responsibilities:

• Building management: Overseeing all planned and reactive maintenance, managing contractors and ensuring the physical site is secure and well-maintained.
• Practical knowledge:  the ability to speak with a level of authority and insight to contractors about maintenance issues.
• Health and safety: Acting as the lead for fire safety, COSHH and general risk assessments to ensure full legal compliance.
• Operations and logistics: managing our cleaner and ensuring the purchase of stock for cleaning and maintenance.
• Compliance: Ensuring our accommodation meets all regulatory standards including environmental health and HMO licensing regulations.

What we are looking for:

• Proven experience in facilities and/or building management (a relevant qualification is preferred)
• Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation (IOSH/NEBOSH preferred).
• A calm, resilient and non-judgmental approach to working within a homeless service environment.

We are excited to be recruiting for a new Director of Operations, reporting into the Chief Executive. This is an exciting role for an accomplished operational leader who will be a part of an established Senior Leadership Team.

Role Focus

As a key member of our SLT, your key focus will be on providing the overall direction to services delivered to PRHA residents, including: housing management, building safety, support and property services. 

In addition, you will lead services that underpin the effective operation of these departments including GDPR, performance and Human Resources. You will drive customer experience, partnerships and manage external contractors, whilst managing broader priorities.

The leader you are

We are seeking a senior-level support/housing professional with broad operational experience within the housing sector, with experience covering Support, housing management and property/asset management. We understand it is likely you will have greater experience in one of these fields, but will have worked at a strategic level that has provided strong insight to the benefit of these areas coming together.

About the Role

As General Manager, you will play a central role in leading and developing the work of The Victoria League for Commonwealth Friendship, raising its profile and ensuring its long-term sustainability. You will oversee the overall management of the charity, alongside the effective operation of the Victoria League Student House.

This is a broad and hands-on leadership position, combining strategic development with day-to-day operational oversight. You will drive key fundraising initiatives and business development opportunities, as well as support the House Manager and their team, and the Membership and Administration Officer.

• Lead the development and growth of the charity
• Drive fundraising and build partnerships
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Student House
• Support and manage staff
• Ensure effective financial management and governance
• Promote the charity through events, communications, and stakeholder engagement

Fight for Peace is looking for an exceptional Facilities Manager to take full ownership of our Academy in Royal Docks, East London — a vibrant, purpose-built space where young people aged 7–25 come to box, train, learn, and grow.

This isn't a role for someone who wants to sit behind a desk raising purchase orders. As our Facilities Manager, you'll be the person who makes the Academy hum, from keeping us legally compliant and structurally sound to leading capital projects, managing a network of contractors, and making sure every corner of the building reflects the ambition and energy of the community it serves.

You'll have real ownership. You'll have a say in the facilities budget, shape the annual maintenance plan, and play an active role in our team. When something needs doing, you'll have the authority and the trust to get it done.

What you'll be leading:

The Academy is a busy, multi-use space — and no two days are the same. You'll oversee everything from day-to-day maintenance and statutory compliance to major refurbishment projects (including an ongoing changing rooms development). You'll manage our cleaning team, oversee IT infrastructure, run our room hire offer, and work with the income generation team to grow commercial use of the space. Health and safety sits at the heart of this role — you'll be our lead on fire safety, EICR, legionella, asbestos, and everything in between, maintaining a compliance register that is always audit-ready.

Safeguarding is central to how we operate. You'll ensure the physical environment supports a safe and welcoming space for young people, and that every contractor who steps through our doors is properly vetted.

What we're looking for:

You'll bring solid, hands-on experience in facilities, estates, or building management — ideally in a community, education, or sports setting. You'll know your way around a PPM schedule, a compliance register, and a contractor negotiation. You'll be organised, dependable, and the kind of person who spots a problem before it becomes one.

• Salary: £37,000 – £40,000

A NEBOSH or IOSH qualification is desirable but not essential, we're more interested in what you've done than what's on paper. An enhanced DBS check will be required prior to appointment.
