The Role

Reprieve has longstanding, committed donors, a newly established prospecting programme and a healthy unrestricted-to-restricted income mix – meaning genuine scope to package existing programmes into new applications and grow income meaningfully. Working closely with the Head of Development, you’ll help steward key donor relationships, secure new grants, and lead reporting and donor communications.

You’ll work alongside brilliant human rights lawyers, investigators and campaigners on some of the most urgent human rights cases in the world – translating complex casework into compelling propositions for donors. Expect strategic work, variety, and the chance to build a pipeline that genuinely matters.

We’re looking for a thoughtful relationship-builder and a strong writer who can turn technical material into engaging donor narratives, work closely with casework, finance and senior leadership, and bring creativity and curiosity to a fast-moving environment. Based in London with Fellows and partners globally, Reprieve operates at the intersection of law, policy, and human rights, working alongside governments, senior legal practitioners, and civil society to advance systemic change.

Terms

The role is a full-time (five days per week) on an 18-month fixed-term. The annual salary is £42,193 per annum less any required deductions for income tax and national insurance.

This role is based in Reprieve’s London office. Reprieve operates a hybrid working model and we require staff to work 40% of their working hours from the London office and the rest of the week from home. About the role

The focus of the role will be on writing grant applications and competitive tenders to generate new income streams for the charity. These new income streams will allow us to move away from our reliance on core funding enabling us to follow our strategic plans and diversify where necessary to support more survivors.

This role will work closely with the Service Managers to identify funding opportunities which match our capacity for delivery.

The Bid Writer will develop and maintain networks and beneficial working relationships to raise the profile of Staying Put.

The role will involve analysing and researching information from various sources and then presenting these in a cohesive and persuasive way for the required audience. Writing reports and analysis for SLT will be required as part of this role.

Part-time, 18.75 hours per week, over 3 days. £32,900 FTE per annum.

About you

Educated to degree level, our ideal candidate will have excellent written communication skills, with the ability to produce effective grant applications tailoring the content depending on the audience. We are looking for someone with significant experience in a similar bid writing role who can demonstrate success in meeting challenging financial targets. Knowledge of domestic abuse and sexual violence, the impact it has on victims and issues they face, would be an advantage.

You will need to be a self-starter with a professional attitude. Our ideal candidate will be able to problem solve in dynamic situations and have a creative approach to income generation.

As well as experience of working in the charity sector, we need someone who is detail-oriented and has strong time management and organisational skills. We are looking for candidates who are able to work with initiative, have a high level of self motivation with a “can-do” attitude but who can recognise, work with and develop their strengths within a team

North Yorkshire Citizens Advice & Law Centre provides free, confidential and impartial advice on issues such as money, benefits, housing and employment, helping around 25,000 people each year to find a way forward. As an independent charity rooted in our communities, we support people through challenging times and campaign on the issues that affect their lives.

We are looking for an experienced Funding Bid Writer to join our collaborative team, helping to secure the funding that enables these vital services to continue and grow. You will identify funding opportunities, including grants from charitable trusts and foundations and competitive tendering processes, build strong relationships with funders and write compelling applications and bids that clearly communicate the impact of our work and the needs of the people we support.

This role requires someone who can understand complex information and turn it into clear, persuasive proposals and tenders, while working effectively with colleagues across the organisation. You will be confident managing multiple priorities and deadlines, maintaining high standards of accuracy and attention to detail.

This role can be performed remotely from anywhere within the UK. Alternatively, if you prefer, you can choose a hybrid working arrangement or be based in any of our North Yorkshire offices.

THE ROLE:

The position would suit someone who has some experience in a similar fundraising role, or must be a competent and confident writer with experience writing compelling applications, alongside a passion for and skill in building and managing strong relationships.

Key priorities include developing and nurturing a pipeline of new and existing Trusts and Foundations, writing compelling applications to grow grant income, and managing relationships with funders to strengthen their engagement with the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust. You will also implement an effective stewardship and communication process to encourage long term support. Working alongside another fundraiser, together you will share responsibility for securing grants.

As a part of a small fundraising team, where necessary you will also have the chance, and be expected, to play a proactive part in our wider fundraising activities, to help grow income to transform the lives of more young people living through and beyond cancer.

Background

Buckinghamshire has a fast-growing older population who are the heart and soul of our communities – for example as employers, workers, volunteers, mentors, carers and child-minders. They help make our worlds go round. But when the challenges of older age feel overwhelming, and someone’s own world shrinks, Age UK Bucks is there to support them. Based in Aylesbury and working across the county, our services support older residents to maintain their independence and well-being, especially when times are difficult, helping local older people age batter and access support they deserve.

We have grown as an organisation recently, expanding our services and increasing staff numbers and income as we endeavour to meet the needs of older people in the county, who are struggling to cope with the cost-of-living crisis, after the lasting impact of the pandemic.
 

The Head of Charitable Services is a new role and will play a pivotal part in leading this growth and supporting and developing the teams and culture that deliver them. Job purpose
Lead services and teams that support, champion and empower older Bucks residents to meet the many challenges and opportunities of ageing, through charitable services that have high impact and that are sustainably funded, working with all communities in Bucks and through partner collaboration.

The role

Will oversee the development and delivery of high quality, person-centred, compassionate and effective support and services for older people across Bucks that has demonstrable impact and quality - building community connection and championing older people’s needs and opportunities. You will help shape the charity’s charitable approach, work on developing new services, funded from grant applications and community collaboration, and build cases for support and demonstrable impact case studies. Reporting to the CEO, you will work closely with the Head of Commercial Services and Development, dovetailing referral pathways and aligning practice and processes.
 

Key tasks and responsibilities

• Meet the needs of older Bucks residents through effective, high quality, safe and compassionate support and services that can demonstrate impact and are sustainable financially, meeting appropriate quality standards where required
• Develop our people and volunteers, including supporting our safeguarding lead on best practice supervision, risk assessment and mitigation, case work guidance, safeguarding, line management and people development
• Work with SLT to support our Trustee Board, Board Officers and Sub-Committees to enable them to guide and steward the charity appropriately, including developing reports and information/KPIs
• Develop and deliver financially sustainable services, planning and managing income and costs in line with strategy and budgets, working with the Finance leadership and SLT
• Help develop and transform our data collection and story-telling, enabling the organisation to create and share compelling and inspiring impact and outcome reports for stakeholders 
• Support the maintenance and development of our website and social media strategy and assets to support our work and programmes
• Optimise and raise awareness of our services and impact, through developing effective outreach and presentations to key stakeholders, groups, communities and funders
• Act as a champion of older people and an Age Friendly Bucks, representing the charity at key forums, Boards and activities in order to achieve our mission and strategic goals, bringing the voice and needs of older people to the fore.

The Development Manager sits within our Development & Communications Team and plays a critical role in securing the funding and partnerships that fuel our global prevention efforts. This role is responsible for managing and preparing high-quality funding applications, nurturing donor and partner relationships, and leading on individual giving initiatives that grow our supporter base and strengthen long-term sustainability.

This is a dynamic and strategic role suited to someone who is a strong writer, comfortable working with data and impact insights, and driven to connect STOP THE TRAFFIK’s mission with funders who share our vision. You will help build a strong pipeline of philanthropic, trust, foundation, and corporate support, ensuring the organisation continues to innovate and scale its prevention programmes worldwide.

This role will be responsible for:

Funding Development & Applications

• Prepare and submit compelling, high-quality funding proposals to trusts and foundations.

• Develop supplementary materials for applications, including budgets, MEL frameworks, timelines, and theories of change.

• Research and identify new funding opportunities to maintain a strong pipeline.

• Manage funding calendars, ensuring deadlines, reporting, and grant obligations are met.

Relationship Management

• Build and maintain strong relationships with existing funders, partners, and individual donors, ensuring excellent stewardship.

• Support the Head of Development & Communications in cultivating philanthropic prospects and corporate partnerships.

• Represent STOP THE TRAFFIK in meetings and presentations with funders and external stakeholders.

Campaigns & Individual Giving

• Lead individual giving activities.

Storytelling & Impact

The ideal candidate will have:
