Job Purpose:
Working from St. Hilda’s East Community Centre in Shoreditch, the Facilities Assistant will support the Head of Operations, in the day-to-day running and improvement of SHE’s buildings and spaces – ensuring they are tidy, safe, clean, fit for purpose and welcoming. This will involve improving and implementing best practice procedures primarily regarding facilities and all elements of health and safety across both our sites - ensuring that we comply with regulatory standards.

Background Information and Purpose of Post

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership and management
- Implement our ambitious plan for institutional relations, staying aligned with the organisation’s objectives and responding appropriately to the external environment.

About the role
The Head of Income Generation will play a pivotal role in strengthening the financial sustainability and social impact of our organisation. This 12-month position—open to both employees and consultants—will lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive income generation strategy across our three social businesses: our women’s-only gym and studio, our community café, and our meeting room hire service.
Working closely with the leadership team, the postholder will identify new income opportunities, enhance the visibility and market reach of our social enterprises, and ensure that all business activity aligns with our mission to improve women’s health and wellbeing.

The gym embodies our commitment to preventative health and creates an inclusive community where women of all ages and backgrounds can focus on their strength, resilience, and self-care. The Café – Nourishing Food, Nurturing Community
Our café is the social heart of The Bridge — a welcoming, accessible, and inclusive space where everyone can connect, share, and feel at home. Serving seasonal, plant-based meals prepared in-house, the café champions women-led enterprises and affordable, healthy food. It hosts many of our wellbeing and creative programmes, and through initiatives like the Pay-What-You-Can Supper Club, supports emerging women chefs and builds everyday acts of care and solidarity. The café has the opportunity to not only advances our mission of improving women’s health and wellbeing but also generates vital trading income and partnership opportunities.
While it currently operates at a deficit, it plays a vital role in advancing our wellbeing and community objectives. We are now focused on realising its full commercial potential. A feasibility study is underway to explore a range of operational and business models that will transition the café into a sustainable, profit-making enterprise. Plans include expanding income-generating opportunities through hosting more events, developing an external catering offer, and maximising use of the space for private hire and functions during weekends. Room Hire – Spaces that Enable Collaboration and Impact
Our professional meeting and event spaces are used by charities, community groups, and corporate partners for workshops, training, and strategic planning. With over 500 bookings a year and a 89% return rate, these rooms are known for their quality, warmth, and service. The income they generate supports our wider mission, while also acting as a catalyst for new partnerships and collaborations.
We now aim to build on this success by increasing utilisation on our most popular days (Tuesday to Thursday) and attracting new clients to fill capacity on Mondays, Fridays, evenings, and weekends. Plans include developing loyalty packages for regular clients and introducing new offers such as team wellbeing days that align with our health and wellbeing ethos. This approach will not only maximise income potential but also strengthen The Bridge’s role as a space where organisations connect, collaborate, and thrive.
Key responsibilities:
1. Income Generation Strategy
· Develop and implement a comprehensive income generation strategy for our social businesses (women’s-only gym and studio, café, and meeting room hire).
· Identify and pursue new revenue opportunities while aligning with the organisation’s mission and values.
· Monitor financial performance and make recommendations to meet growth and sustainability targets.

· Budget setting and management of cafe, gym and marketing budgets

2. Business Development and Partnerships

5. Line and Task Management
· Provide leadership, guidance, and performance management for 1 or 2 managers
· Task manage the Head of Operations, who oversees room hire services, ensuring alignment with income generation and marketing priorities.
6. Performance Monitoring and Reporting
· Set measurable targets for income generation and and track progress regularly.
· Implement a CRM and/or data-dashboard system to track customer/member acquisition, retention, income per stream, marketing campaign performance, and present monthly/quarterly reports to CEO and Board.
· Report to the leadership team on performance, insights, and opportunities for improvement.

About the role
The Crick Innovation and Business team has been created to establish an expanded translational and commercial offering from the Crick. There are four core functions: Translation & Entrepreneurship, Commercial Portfolio, Business Development and Business Operations.
The Business Development team is responsible for driving the development and execution of the Crick’s translation and commercial activity. This involves identifying partners for different translational and commercial opportunities, negotiating and concluding optimal deals and post-signature management to ensure delivery of such agreements.

Working closely with the Head of Business Development and the Business Development team, you will ensure appropriate identification, negotiation, conclusion and post-signature management of deals that further the Crick strategy, while protecting the charitable objectives.
You will be a commercially driven professional with a strong track record in opportunity assessment, licensing, and contract negotiation within the life sciences and pharmaceutical sectors. Highly skilled in stakeholder management across academic and commercial settings, you will be equipped with quantitative capabilities to support financial modelling and commercial evaluations.
You will possess a background in bioscience or a related discipline and/or equivalent experience and be experienced in establishing spin-out companies and partnering in the biomedical field and potentially incubator deals. Systems and infrastructure
- Identify, develop, and implement accessible, user-focused technologies and environmentally sustainable solutions that enhance organisational efficiency, impact, and engagement.
- Ensure IT infrastructure is robust, scalable, and reliable to meet future organisational needs while adhering to sustainability commitments.
- Increase organisational resilience by proactively managing risks associated with digital projects, including cyber security threats, data breaches, and system downtime.
- Develop, maintain and connect databases, platforms and tools to enable effective and improved ways of working across ZSL systems.
Data, Analytics and Cyber Security
- Establish and maintain strong data governance frameworks that ensure data integrity, compliance, and security, positioning data as a strategic organisational asset.
- Drive integration across key datasets and applications holding conservation, science, and supporter content using analytics tools such as PowerBI and middleware.
- Lead insights-driven decision-making by leveraging analytics to optimise user experience, operational efficiency, and storytelling impact for all stakeholders.
- Oversee cyber security strategy, including policy, risk management, incident response, and reporting to the executive team, ensuring organisational resilience.
People Leadership
- Lead, develop, and inspire high-performing digital and system users and IT teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Build capability across the organisation to enhance digital literacy and adoption of new technologies.
About You
- Extensive experience in IT, digital, data, or technology leadership roles, demonstrating increasing responsibility over time.
- Proven track record of developing and delivering organisational digital and ICT strategies.
- Broad experience across multiple IT and digital disciplines.
- Experience managing budgets with a focus on cost-effectiveness and value for money.
- Demonstrated success in leading and developing large, high-performing teams.
- Outstanding leadership and strategic thinking capabilities, with the ability to set vision and direction.
- Deep understanding of data ecosystems, including platforms, governance, and insight generation.
- Strong grasp of technical data concepts, including databases, data science, business intelligence, analytics, and cloud technologies.
- Thorough knowledge of data governance principles, data ethics, relevant regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR), and cyber security best practice.
- Highly skilled at influencing and building relationships at senior organisational levels.
