The Head of Public Fundraising is a new role at Coeliac UK leading the charity’s public fundraising function. The role focusses on driving sustainable growth across individual giving, community fundraising, events, lottery, raffle, digital fundraising and merchandise. This role is responsible for delivering Coeliac UK’s 5-year fundraising strategy to maximise return-on-investment, grow long term supporter value, and contribute to the charity’s mission.
The Head of Public Fundraising will embed and deliver comprehensive fundraising strategies, growing Coeliac UK’s supporter base and income, building up new and under-developed income streams and communicating effectively with their audiences to expand their reach, and encourage financial and non-financial support to deliver the organisations mission.
Who are we looking for?
Key to the success of this role is a strong understanding of individual giving fundraising. This role blends the strategic oversight and leadership of a Head of role across multiple income streams, with the hands-on expertise of an IG fundraiser. Experience across other income streams and areas of fundraising delivery would be a huge benefit as the role leads community fundraising and events, will take on digital fundraising - currently led by the Chief Engagement Officer, as well as manage the data and supporter care functions, but experience in individual giving is essential as Coeliac UK has defined that as an area of priority income.
The successful candidate for this role will be someone who has already operated at a senior level within a charity such as at Senior Manager level, or Head of in a specific income stream.
Hybrid working
The role has a hybrid expectation of a minimum of a day a week in the High Wycombe office (HP11 2QW) to build relationships and provide support to the fundraising team, and there will be flexibility required for other in person meetings and events. George Watson’s College wishes to appoint a Senior Philanthropy Officer to lead the school’s individual giving and legacy fundraising initiatives, and support major programmes and campaigns. Develop strong relationships with donors and our alumni community to grow philanthropic income and long-term engagement.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Individual Giving
Lead the planning, execution and optimisation of individual giving efforts. Manage campaign setup, timelines, assets, and donor experience.
Monitor performance and analyse results to drive continuous improvement in participation, engagement, and revenue.
Collaborate with Admissions and Marketing, and other internal teams, to source and develop compelling content.
Along with the Head of Development, manage a fundraising communications calendar and play a leading role in content creation.
Collaborate with the Admissions and Marketing team to ensure website content, landing pages, and donation pages support digital giving goals.
Execute fundraising strategies in partnership with the Head of Development. Build, segment, code, and deploy emails to support giving campaigns and organisational priorities.
Manage a portfolio of donors linked to specific programmes and campaigns.
Legacies
Plan and deliver multi-channel legacy marketing campaigns (print, digital, events)
Build and maintain relationships with legacy pledgers and prospects
Deliver high-quality, sensitive stewardship to recognise and retain legacy supporters
Organise events and communications to engage legacy supporters
Produce compelling and sensitive legacy messaging and materials
Campaign/Programmes
Manage and grow the patrons programme, including recruitment, retention, and upgrades
Develop a clear donor journey, including benefits, communications, and recognition
Monitor performance against income targets and KPIs
Work in collaboration with Heads of the Creative Arts programmes to monitor and administer funds for maximum impact across the arts
Foundation Places and Enrichment Fund
Support impact reporting and administration of discrete aspects of our widening access programmes.
Manage application process to the Enrichment Fund, including managing enquiries, disbursements and liaison with Finance.
Any other duties related to these programmes as directed by senior staff.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
Essential:
Relevant degree, professional qualification or equivalent professional experience
Demonstrable experience in Individual Giving, Direct Marketing or Legacy fundraising, with an annual income return of 6+ figures
Proven track record of delivering successful multi-channel campaigns
Strong understanding of supporter journeys, acquisition and retention
Skilled in data analysis, performance tracking and forecasting
Proficiency with graphic design tools, experience with Canva would be an advantage.
Demonstrable experience with Raisers Edge, or similar CRM system
Ability to manage complex projects and programs and deliver to set KPI and timelines
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with content writing, brand voice, and digital fundraising best practices.
Ability to build and foster relationships across business functions.
Understanding of charity law, GDPR and best practices in fundraising
Commitment to high level of professional standards

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate annual calendar of volunteer training events
· Work in partnership with the Volunteer Development Manager to understand volunteer recruitment needs across services and the wider team.
· Liaise with services teams to plan and develop the calendar of volunteer training events, both in person and virtual.
· Manage relationships with training venues ensuring desired dates are secured early in line with event requirements and budgets.
· Proactively research new training venues which meet accessibility requirements.
· Work with team members taking a lead on volunteer training delivery to ensure all training materials are up to date and relevant training packs/goodie boxes are distributed to trainees.

Manage volunteer applications and requests
· Work with Volunteer Development Manager to ensure application process is kept up to date and is easily accessible to prospective volunteers.
· Liaise with potential volunteers, following up on expressions of interest, providing triage, answering queries and providing information relating to roles which may be relevant and of interest to encourage applications.
· Maintain database records ensuring swift distribution of applications to services team
· Support the Volunteer Development Manager to identify areas of potential efficiency and improvement in working practices in the recruitment, training and onboarding processes.
· Work across the wider team to understand and support volunteer requests, proactively approaching active volunteers with projects and opportunities for them to get involved.
· Coordinate volunteer request opportunities with volunteers and volunteer managers to ensure requests are fulfilled to raise awareness of Back Up’s services.
Other duties and responsibilities
· Maintaining accurate records on the database, adhering to all relevant policies and procedures.
· Be a ‘Data Champion’, leading by example on the importance of good data practice and hygiene, and using the system to its best efficiency.

Hackney School of Food is an award-winning food education hub based in the grounds of Mandeville Primary School in Clapton, East London. Through our teaching kitchen and educational garden, we help children, families and communities build the skills, confidence and knowledge to grow, cook and eat good food.

About the role
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Managing Director (MD) will provide both strategic and operational leadership, ensuring the organisation delivers its mission while remaining financially resilient, well-governed and responsive to the needs of the communities it serves.
The Managing Director is responsible for all aspects of the organisation, including strategy, income generation, finance, governance, partnerships, programme delivery and people leadership. Working closely with a small, committed team and an engaged Board, they will build on strong foundations to grow Hackney School of Food's impact, reach and long-term sustainability.

Strategic Leadership
Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for Hackney School of Food, ensuring delivery of its mission, vision and long-term objectives.

Oversee and report on organisational performance to the Board of Directors quarterly.
