An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team as a Resource Centre Manager.  This is a fantastic opportunity for a Dispensing Optician, Sensory Equipment Specialist, or experienced practitioner with service management skills to lead and develop a well-established Resource Centre.

You will play a central role in supporting people who are blind, partially sighted, Deaf, hard of hearing and deafblind to access assistive equipment and technology that maintains independence and improves quality of life.

The role includes leading the day-to-day running of the Resource Centre, ensuring a high-quality, person-centred service, and working collaboratively across the organisation. There is also scope to shape and grow the service, including developing new income opportunities and resources.  You will be line managing a small team of staff and volunteers. 

We are looking for someone with experience in sensory support, strong organisational and people management skills, and confidence in advising on equipment and practical solutions. You will be proactive, flexible and committed to improving outcomes for the people we support.

This is primarily an office-based role with some travel across Surrey.

THE ROLE

We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Grants Manager to join our fundraising team and support the development of our grants and trusts income, from research and writing through to reporting and funder relationships. The successful candidate will play a central role in the fundraising team, working closely with the Head of Fundraising to manage the end-to-end process of our trusts and foundations income.

Core responsibilities will include writing and submitting funding applications, managing active grants and funder communications, leading on reporting, and maintaining our funder stewardship plan. You will work with young people who have been identified as having higher support needs and be proactive in taking steps to manage risk across your caseload. We are looking for a Senior Coach who can lead on demonstrating best practice across the coaching team and support the Programme Management Team to maintain an excellent standard of support.  You will use your insight and experience to act as a mentor to new coaches and support coaching colleagues in their practice, and to look to actively improve our support offer in collaboration with other Senior Coaches and Programme Managers. We are looking for someone who is compassionate in their work with others and celebrates examples of good practice whilst highlighting where there are areas for improvement, approaching this in a collaborative way.

You will draw on your experience to build and strengthen relationships with external professionals and develop Settle’s network across the boroughs where young people live. 

What we're looking for

We are looking for a driven, experienced individual, with the relevant skills to provide high quality support to a caseload of young people and ensure we give the very best we can. We are interested in someone who has a good grounding in a related frontline service and experience of proactively managing a caseload, collecting high quality data and keeping accurate notes. You will have the ability to take initiative and be comfortable flexing your priorities to support young people alongside holding Settle’s strategic goals.

You will be comfortable managing a level of heightened risk with the young people you are supporting, keeping timely and high-quality records, liaising with other professionals from a range of backgrounds, and providing support to colleagues to work towards positive outcomes for young people. You will have experience in managing safeguarding concerns well and thrive in the ups and downs of support-based work.

Overall, we are looking for a compassionate frontline worker, with an understanding of the value in coaching, and who has a level head at times of crisis. You are not afraid of shying away from difficult conversations and will challenge others appropriately to help them see a different perspective or viewpoint, always holding young people at the centre of your work.

Acorns Children’s Hospice is looking for a Legacy and In-Memory Manager to lead and grow its legacy and in-memory fundraising programmes. The role will shape and deliver strategies that inspire supporters to leave gifts in their wills and honour loved ones through giving. Blending strategic marketing, empathetic communication, and relationship management, this position will play a key role in building sustainable income and strengthening lifelong supporter connections.

About the Role

At Acorns Children’s Hospice we offer specialist palliative care and support for children and their families across the West Midlands. We are there wherever and whenever they need us, in the hospice, community and at home. As the UK’s largest children’s hospice charity, in terms of both numbers of children and families supported, and annual expenditure on our care work- we need to raise more than £14 million each year to run and support our care services.

As Legacy and In Memory Manager, you will:

• Provide strategic leadership, mentoring and development for the Legacy and In Memory Officer, ensuring a high-performing and motivated team
• Develop and implement a multi-channel legacy marketing programme to increase awareness, consideration, and pledges of gifts in wills to recruit and retain a pool of legacy prospects and pledgers to maximise future legacy income
• Create compelling storytelling materials—brochures, case studies, videos, web content—to highlight the importance of gifts in wills
• Develop strong relationships with all relevant external stakeholders and audiences such as solicitors, executors, funeral directors, legacy enquirers and pledgers and with supporters who may be recently bereaved
• Set and monitor KPIs, measure campaign performance, and report on results to internal stakeholders
• Develop annual budgets and plans to deliver the legacy and in memory programme

About You

• Experience of delivering a legacy and/or in-memory programme
• Experience of and resilience to meeting targets and KPIs
• Experience of delivering presentations or public speaking
• Experience managing and developing high-performing teams
• Strong level of knowledge and understanding of probate, trusts, tax and property issues related to charitable legacies
