The Relationship Fundraising team at Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK) is responsible for securing income from individuals, regional businesses and groups fundraising in the community, effectively managing relationships to maximise income.

The Relationship Fundraising role will play a significant part in contributing to a high-performing fundraising team. The role will cover the country of Northern Ireland.

You will report to the Relationship Fundraising Manager and support the Head of Relationship Fundraising & Volunteering to drive the continued growth of the charity’s fundraising income in your area. You will also be required to show excellent relationship-building skills to support community partnerships and volunteer groups, driving towards agreed targets.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy, finance, and reporting

· Responsibility for stewardship and relationship building with supporters within the region.

· Identify and apply for ‘Charity of the Year’ partnerships with corporates in the region, account manage these relationships up to a value of £50,000 per annum and support the Partnership Development Team with national partnerships in your region.

· Support existing volunteer fundraisers to encourage continued loyalty to the charity and to maximise funds raised, in accordance with fundraising legislation and good practice.

· Recruit new fundraising supporters in line with strategy.

· Support the Relationship Fundraising Manager (RFM) and Head of Relationship Fundraising (HORF) in developing the Relationship Fundraising strategy for ARUK to increase income within this stream.

· Support and extend volunteer networks within geographical area in line with strategy.

· To ensure that fundraising activity is implemented and managed to deliver budgets, targets and income in line with strategy. To achieve this by supporting and facilitating the development of groups and volunteers across geographical area.

· Work across a diverse geographical area and within a geographically dispersed team, whilst managing own workload in a cost-effective and proactive way.

Supporter management

· Provide excellent customer service to fundraising supporters, with prompt responses to enquiries, to acknowledge support and increase long-term loyalty.

· Provide high-quality account management to volunteer groups in geographical area.

· Effective management of volunteer relationships within geographical area.

· Support, motivate and develop local fundraising volunteers, ensuring they have a clear understanding of ARUK to enable them to represent the charity’s work effectively.

· In liaison with the Partnership Development Managers and Partnership Officers, provide high quality account management to corporate supporters within specified geographical area and/or of relevant value.

· Keep up to date with fundraising legislation and codes of practice to be able to provide relevant advice to fundraisers.

· Ensure volunteers and fundraisers have all necessary materials for fundraising initiatives.

Increasing Community Support within geographical area

· Use own initiative to extend volunteer networks, develop new groups and supporters, and respond to fundraising opportunities within geographical area, in line with strategy.

· Manage recruitment process of new ARUK volunteers in geographical area, providing relevant support and training.

· Liaise with local community organisations (predominantly golf clubs) – both previous and new potential supporters – to extend income and activity in line with strategy.

· Provide face-to-face talks and presentations to community organisations for recruitment/ cultivation purposes.

· Arrange appropriate volunteer representation at events in the community, spreading the charity’s reach cost-effectively.

· Identify, research and target prospective community organisations, in liaison with RFM.

· Identify, research and target prospective local corporates in liaison with RFM / HORF and ARUK’s Partnership Development Managers and Partnership Development Officers, in line with strategy.

· Accurately track and record contact with both community and corporate prospects for planning and reporting purposes.

Monitoring and Reporting

· Ensure that your activity is monitored and evaluated, clearly communicating progress to your Relationship Fundraising Manager.

· Manage relevant information on the charity’s database, keeping detailed, up-to-date records of activity and income.

· Knowledge of recruiting key volunteers and fundraising supporters

Richmond CVS already works with a range of experienced consultants and trainers and has an established suite of training resources. The postholder is not expected to be an expert in every aspect of charity management. A key part of the role is to coordinate and facilitate this support, drawing on specialist expertise where needed, while providing direct advice particularly in relation to fundraising and the fundamentals of good governance.

Key Responsibilities

Organisational Support 

· Provide practical tailored advice and support to VCSE organisations on governance, fundraising, income generation, and strategic planning.

An exciting opportunity to be involved in the development of a growing adult literacy charity as it expands across North England

One in 20 adults in the UK has never learnt to read at all. This can have a serious impact on their confidence and wellbeing, limiting access to training, employment, and everyday opportunities that many take for granted. Being unable to read as an adult can be isolating and dangerous, reinforces social inequality, restricts economic growth, and worsens intergenerational disadvantage - but it is never too late to learn.

Read Easy helps adults transform their lives by learning to read. It does this by supporting its growing network of locally run, volunteer-led affiliated groups that offer free, confidential, one-to-one reading coaching—both in person and online to adults - aged from 18-88. 

With its free, flexible, confidential approach, Read Easy encourages people who are too embarrassed to join a class to come forward for one-to-one support. Each new reader is provided with their own personal Reading Coach, so that they can learn in private and at their own pace. Learning to read transforms their lives in many other ways as well, including enabling them to support their children’s and grandchildren’s reading, and so transfers the benefits to the next generation.

There are currently 80 affiliated Read Easy groups across England, together involving more than a thousand volunteers. Read Easy UK is the registered charity and umbrella organisation which supports this network of affiliated volunteer groups and provides the structure, training and support to enable volunteers to establish groups in new areas.

As our North Regional Adviser, your role would be to provide strategic leadership, guidance, and oversight to ensure that all volunteer groups in your region consistently deliver high-quality services aligned with Read Easy UK’s strategy.

You will support local volunteer leaders to strengthen group performance, and foster collaboration across affiliated groups, so that that they deliver coaching to Readers with consistent quality, and a positive and worthwhile experience is had by all.

You will also find volunteers to ‘pioneer’ four new groups in the counties where there is no Read Easy presence and provide them and our 17 existing groups and pioneers in the region, with high-quality support. Your quality support will ensure that they provide the same for their volunteers and new Readers. From meeting (mostly online) with Team Leaders to provide one to one support, and hosting online and annual in-person volunteer forums, to delivering presentations and occasional training for small groups of volunteers, this is a dynamic and rewarding role.

This is a home-based post requiring flexibility, some early evening working and occasional travel to visit groups. The role is available on a part time basis (22.5 hours p/w, 60% of 37.5 hours p/w FTE).

The successful candidate will be expected to:

• Live within one of the following areas: York, South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire or Greater Manchester (Due to the location of our groups in the region, and to ensure efficient travel);
• have been employed to work with volunteers for at least two years;
• have strong people management and interpersonal skills; excellent communication skills; and the confidence to run meetings and deliver presentations.

Role Overview

The Community and Patient Engagement role will play a key role in building, supporting, and strengthening relationships with people living with lung conditions, carers, patient organisations, and wider community stakeholders across Europe. The postholder will ensure that patient voices are meaningfully embedded in ELF and ERS activities, including research, education, advocacy, and policy. This role requires strong communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to inclusive, ethical, and impactful engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Community & Patient Engagement

• Build and maintain strong relationships with patients, carers, patient organisations and professionals across Europe
• Support the development and coordination of patient advisory groups, community panels, and networks
• Ensure diverse patient perspectives are represented, including underserved and marginalised communities
• Develop innovative strategies and ways of reaching the community

Co-production & Involvement

• Facilitate meaningful patient involvement in research projects, clinical practice guidelines, educational activities, and events
• Support co-creation of materials, resources, and initiatives with patients and community partners
• Provide guidance and practical support to ensure engagement activities are accessible, inclusive, and ethical

Programme & Project Support

• Coordinate patient engagement activities across multiple projects, ensuring timelines and objectives are met
• Work collaboratively with internal teams, ERS colleagues, researchers, and external partners
• Support the evaluation and continuous improvement of engagement activities

Communication & Advocacy

• Help translate complex medical and scientific information into clear, patient-friendly language

• Plan and deliver online events for patients and the public, including programme management, technical support and content creation

Monitoring, Learning & Reporting

Person Specification

Essential

• Experience working in patient, community, or public engagement, preferably in health, research, or a non-profit setting
• Experience of delivering patient involvement, co-production, or participatory approaches
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders across cultures and countries
• Strong project management skills with proven ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects from initiation to completion
• Sensitivity to ethical issues, confidentiality, and safeguarding in patient engagement

Desirable

• Experience working with patient organisations or people living with long-term conditions
• Knowledge of respiratory or lung health (or willingness to learn)
• Experience working in a European or international context
• Additional European language skills
• Experience evaluating engagement activities or using qualitative feedback
• Experience of organising and delivering conferences and events, ideally with a focus on patient‑facing meetings or patient conferences
• Experience in coordinating and prioritising a team’s project workload, ensuring resources are used effectively and deadlines are met

We're looking for someone with experience of verging or similar church support work. Good social skills are essential as is the ability to work as part of a team as well as on your own initiative.  The ability to work closely with and relate well to all Cathedral staff, ministry team, congregation, volunteers, visitors, and members of the general public will also be required. 

The two Assistant Vergers and Precinct Officers carry out a wide range of duties under the direction of the Head Verger and Precinct Manager.  Work includes: the careful setting up and delivery of all liturgical matters; ensuring a welcoming, clean, and safe environment for all working in, visiting, or using the Cathedral and Cathedral House and precinct and ensuring the day-to-day smooth running of the Cathedral for all.

Essential experience and skills

• A flexible attitude and willingness to take on a range of duties including practical ‘hands- on’ work.
• Attention to detail and an ability to assess priorities including when under pressure.
• Understanding of liturgy or willingness to learn.
• Ability to be a good team player and work collaboratively with Ministry Team and Lay Staff.
• Good administrative and IT skills.
• Good communication and social skills.
• Good understanding of the importance of managing security and health and safety.
• Have an open and welcoming attitude to all including volunteers and members of the general public.
• A trained First Aider (or willing to be trained upon appointment to an appropriate level).
• Willing to learn new skills and undertake training.

• Ability to work flexibly over seven days and evenings including holiday periods.
• Experience of caretaking duties.

Desirable experience

• At least one year’s experience as a church or cathedral verger or in a similar role.

The Fixery Workshop Officer supports the daily operations of the Fixery and supporting in its promotion and development. You will be helping to deliver a welcoming, community-centred service that promotes repair, reuse and waste reduction. The role involves working alongside volunteers and community members to create an inviting space where people want to spend time, while enabling residents to access circular activities through managing the Fixery stalls and ensuring a smooth running of the hub’s operations.
