About the Youth Endowment Fund (YEF)
All of us will experience violence at some point in our lives. For many children, it is a daily reality. Each year, tens of children are killed, hundreds are hospitalised, 1 in 5 teenage children are victims and the majority admit to feeling afraid of violence. It scares them when they travel home from school, prevents them from going out and makes the most vulnerable feel like they don’t matter. It is taking lives, traumatising families and dividing communities. It robs potential, progress and hope.
But it doesn’t have to be this way.
The Youth Endowment Fund believes that no child should be affected by violence. We research violence to understand it; we find, fund and test what works to prevent it; and we are building a movement to end it.
Communications at YEF
The Communications team, within the External Affairs and Youth Understanding directorate, is a critical arm of the organisation. We can only reduce violence if people hear about what works and put it into practice. Change is hard and it only happens if people trust where it comes from and want to engage with what we are communicating. We can only make change at scale if we’re smart about using digital tools to reach a growing, diverse audience across society.
We need professionals working across our sectors — youth-workers, police officers, social workers, policymakers, headteachers, and more — to find out about and be part of our movement. To do this, we must communicate with humility, authenticity and clarity.
We need politicians, commissioners and funders to follow our guidance and use our products. To do this, we must secure a seat at the table, communicate with intellectual rigour and persuade using the evidence.
We also need to connect with wider society, helping anyone who cares about making Britain safer for the next generation to understand what we do, what works and how they can support our cause. To do this, our brand must be accessible and inspiring, leveraging robust research alongside human storytelling.
As the Head of Digital Communications, you will be essential to achieving our mission. You will join the YEF at an exciting time. We are entering a crucial phase of increasing our policy influence at the top of government, changing things for the better across our sectors — education, youth justice, youth sector, children’s services, policing, health — and mobilising a movement to keep children and young people safe.
Your job is to make sure that the right people are drawn to our website and our digital communications, that they discover and engage with our content — from quoting our data, to using our Toolkit and evidence, to following practical recommendations in our guidance, to watching videos about the latest trends and conversations in violence prevention — and trust what we have to say.
You will support the Director of External Affairs and Youth Understanding to plan, build and execute a digital campaign to make all of this happen. You will help to lead the Communications team to hold the attention of our priority audiences and making them act.
Key Responsibilities
- The core of your job is to ensure that YEF's audience grows rapidly and strategically in size, that people working in our sectors gain awareness and confidence in our brand and that decision-makers engage with our work via our digital channels: our website, social media, newsletters, search, long- and short-form videos and the Safe podcast.
- You will further develop YEF’s existing digital marketing strategy into a national campaign across 2026-2029 for mobilising the evidence to prevent violence affecting children and young people.
- You will provide leadership to YEF generally and the Communications team specifically - managing the Senior Digital Marketing Manager and Digital Marketing and Communications Officer – to develop internal collaboration for boosting organisation-wide digital activity, such as call-to-actions via social media and video content.
- You will execute a strategy for moving to a more segmented, sector-specific communication strategy that engages each audience (whether teachers, youth workers, police officers etc.) to use of YEF’s products whether our Toolkit, our Guidance on what works and self-assessment tools for each sector.
- To commission and develop compelling, eye-catching video content that authentically showcases case studies of our work, drives our audiences towards our channels and products and significantly boosts widespread engagement — views, likes, comments and shares — online.
- To help secure and convert high-profile digital communications opportunities for the team in representing YEF’s work, including podcast and video placements.
- To develop and leverage relevant agency relationships, and use data analytics, to optimise our SEO positioning for online searches related to youth violence, advise on investment in paid advertising to drive traffic to our website and products, and generally boost our digital engagement.

You may have the following, but they are not necessary:
- A qualification in digital marketing.
- Past experience of using Salesforce for marketing campaigns.
- Experience of working in or close to one or more of our priority sectors: education, youth justice, youth sector, children’s services, policing and health.
- Knowledge of using Artificial Intelligence to ethically and effectively boost digital performance at an organisation

Hybrid Working Details
The office is based in Central London, but you don’t have to be. Those living in London and within the 32 London Boroughs are expected to be in the office a minimum of 2 days per week. If you live outside of London and work remotely, you’ll be expected to work from the London office 2 days per month. Introduction
The National House Project (NHP) supports Local Authorities to work with young people to give them the knowledge, skills and confidence to live connected and fulfilling lives. By developing a community of support, completing the House Project Programme and being able to make their house a home young people can look forward to a positive future.

Purpose of the Role
Reporting to the Director of Partnerships, this newly created role offers the chance to support the delivery of our new Fundraising and Partnership Strategy (2025–2029) by helping to grow our community of supporters, increase individual digital giving and deepen engagement with corporate partners. We also welcome your ideas and experience in developing how we might approach digital fundraising.
Working closely with the Director of Partnerships, this role will lead on community fundraising development and provide hands-on coordination of partnership activities, from employee volunteering and group sessions to corporate fundraising events and payroll giving. The role will also contribute to communications and marketing content.
Key Responsibilities
Corporate Partnerships and Engagement

Support the Director of Partnerships in managing and delivering high-quality partnership activities, including:

Organising employee volunteering sessions – including mapping / tracking volunteer hours and activities (where possible)

Organising and supporting group visits, insight events, and work experience placements (as needed)

Work closely with NHP colleagues, Local House Project staff and partners to develop impactful partnership activities

Community Fundraising, Individual Giving and Supporter Engagement

Plan, deliver and evaluate a calendar of community fundraising activities and events (third party) to build NHP’s supporter base, ensuring income and engagement targets are met. (We plan to have 2 community fundraising events a year, and support those our corporate partners organise).

Recruit, brief and support challenge event participants, fundraisers and corporate teams undertaking community activities.

Develop toolkits and resources to empower supporters (fundraising packs, JustGiving Guides and risk assessments)

Support the Business Support Administrator to manage the stock, ordering and distribution of fundraising materials to ensure event participants are equipped and engaged.

Support the Director of Partnerships to lead the event logistics (registrations, supplier liaison, risk assessments, volunteer coordination, on the day delivery and post event follow up)

Provide guidance, resources, and encouragement to individuals and groups fundraising on behalf of NHP.

About the team
The Investment Team is responsible for selecting portfolio partners, managing our charity investments and supporting our portfolio partners to improve and scale their impact.
The Investment Team also leads the Impetus Leadership Academy, a leadership development programme to support talent from ethnic minority backgrounds in the UK youth sector to progress into senior leadership roles.
The team is made up of 19 people, including former teachers, charity chief executives, charity impact leads, management consultants, social investment portfolio managers and impact consultants.
The team is led by a Portfolio Director who sits on the Senior Management Team. The Portfolio Director has 5 direct reports: a Deputy Portfolio Director, three Sector Leads (who lead our work in School engagement, School attainment and Employment Sectors) and an Impact Lead. Sector Leads line manage 6 Investment Directors. Investment Directors line manage Investment Managers (currently 6). Investment Directors and Investment Managers tend to primarily focus on a sector but might have mixed portfolios, depending on need, experience and interest.
The Investment Team has a good track record of role progression. All four Leads and a number of our Investment Directors were promoted from within the team.

Key responsibilities
Finding high potential charities and non-profit organisations to join our portfolio
- Supporting the annual cycle of identifying new investments - mapping the landscape of charities in thematic areas (e.g. Apprenticeships and Skills), conducting structured analysis of key impact and financial data and reviewing the current evidence base to identify high potential charities and inform options for Investment Directors.
- Contributing to due diligence of new organisations by reviewing quantitative and qualitative charity information ) and preparing clear assessments of suitability for investment; This includes considering impact and scale potential, financial stability and summarising risks and recommendations for senior review. Requires strong relationship management, in co-ordination with Investment Directors, when engaging with potential charity partners.
- Supporting Investment Directors in developing, preparing and presenting high quality investment propositions to our Investment Committee.
Supporting and managing relationships with portfolio partners
- Working closely with Investment Directors to support portfolio partners across all areas of our work - leadership, impact and sustainability – owning defined(e.g. impact management or financial analysis).
- Building trust-based relationships with portfolio partners including senior leaders and delivery staff, acting as a valued advisor on practice improvement contributing insight and support while escalating strategic issues to Investment Directors and Programme/Impact leads.
- Working with Impact teams at portfolio partners to develop and refine impact management practices; including data collection, dashboard development, performance review meetings, programme design and evaluation.
- Supporting portfolio partners functional leads (e.g. Director of Impact) to develop as leaders by contributing insights and tools to help drive and strengthen impact-led approaches within their organisations.

In this job, you’ll work closely with the Senior Strategic Partnerships Manager, Corporate Partnerships Manager and wider corporate partnerships team to deliver excellent account management and driving renewals and growth, by providing our partners with an inspiring supporter experience. You’ll also have a new business target, to seek and secure innovative new partnerships with high-value companies. Your portfolio may include Charity-of-the-Year collaborations, nationwide campaign-based partnerships, multi-year partnerships with pharmaceutical companies, sponsorship and Cause Related Marketing (CRM) opportunities.

We are looking for an interim Head of Legacies, In Memory and Supporter Care to play a vital role in strengthening the supporter experiences and relationships that help power our lifesaving work.
This is a 12 month offering a rare opportunity to step into a leadership role where you’ll help shape and deliver our Legacy, In Memory and Supporter Care programmes. You’ll put insight, compassion and supporter needs at the heart of everything we do. You will lead a talented team to inspire people to give in meaningful ways, deepen their connection with our cause, and help us grow sustainable income that ensures we can be here for anyone who needs us.
We're looking for someone who can drive our ambitious plans to grow our legacy income. Working collaboratively across teams and directorates, particularly Data, Finance and External Engagement, making sure our strategies are based on insight and are effective in communicating the need.
With significant direct marketing experience, ideally across legacy and in memory fundraising, strong leadership capability and a passion for exceptional supporter care, you’ll bring the expertise and energy needed to help us reach new audiences and build long lasting supporter relationships.

Contract terms:
- £55,000 - £60,000 per annum, plus benefits

What you'll do:
- Lead the delivery of Samaritans’ legacy and in-memory giving strategy
- Deliver excellent supporter experience, maximising the attraction and retention of our supporters
- Grow and sustain Samaritans’ legacy income in line with our fundraising strategy
- Encourage, explore and develop our supporter care approach to help improve our supporter experience and retention
- Build and manage strategic relationships with external agencies and suppliers
- Produce comprehensive campaign evaluations and make recommendations for continuous improvement
- Lead and develop a high-performing team through a culture of ambition and proactive performance management
What you’ll bring:
- A supporter led mindset and approach
- Demonstrable experience of delivering income growth from legacies and in-memory income streams
- Experience of understanding, using and reporting on data for marketing purposes

About North Surrey Domestic Abuse Service (NSDAS)
NSDAS is a specialist, survivor-centred charity formed as an independent Charitable Incorporated Organisation in 2024 following a period hosted by Citizens Advice. We provide confidential practical and emotional support to adults and children affected by domestic abuse across Elmbridge, Epsom & Ewell and Spelthorne, delivering helpline and email advice, advocacy, safety planning, refuge and housing pathways, recovery programmes and targeted work for children and young people. Our practice is trauma-informed and feminist in outlook, foregrounding safety, confidentiality and the lived experience of survivors.
We are a small, specialist organisation with an average headcount of around 18 (approximately 15 frontline staff and three support roles), supported by a committed cohort of volunteers. Since independence our trustees have prioritised governance, compliance and capacity building; in our first independently reported year total income was c.£932k and trustees view the near-term financial position as stable while planning prudently for the medium term. This interim appointment offers the chance to lead NSDAS through consolidation and prepare the charity for its next strategic phase.
As our next Interim Chief Executive Officer, you will:
• Strategy & Impact: Develop and deliver a clear 12-month operational plan, with pragmatic milestones and measurable outcomes that align with trustee priorities and service needs.
• Governance & Finance: Strengthen governance and risk reporting to the Board, maintain oversight of day-to-day financial control and cashflow, and support the Treasurer in preparing budgets and regular management reports.
• Operational Leadership: Provide stable, visible leadership and day-to-day operational management, ensuring continuity and quality of frontline services.
• Income Generation: Lead practical income-generation activity alongside trustees and fundraising staff, identify suitable funding opportunities and support bid development to diversify income and build unrestricted reserves.
• Service Quality & Safeguarding: Ensure survivor-centred practice, robust case recording, up-to-date safeguarding and lone-working protocols, and quality assurance across services.
• People & Wellbeing: Prioritise staff and volunteer wellbeing by embedding clinical supervision, promoting psychological safety and improving supervision and development arrangements.
• Community & Partnerships: Maintain and build constructive relationships with statutory partners (local authorities, police), Surrey Domestic Abuse Partnership members and other key stakeholders; represent NSDAS at multi-agency forums.
• Brand & Profile: Advocate for local service needs, raise NSDAS’s profile within the local ecosystem and support trustee work to communicate impact and local value.
Who you are
• A seasoned senior leader with proven executive experience in a small to medium-sized charity or comparable organisation (c.8–20 staff; turnover circa £0.5m+).
• Demonstrable experience of leading organisations through change or transition while maintaining service continuity.
• Strong people leadership skills with experience managing sensitive HR matters, staff wellbeing and clinical/therapeutic supervision arrangements.
• A track record of successful income generation and relationship management with funders, commissioners and statutory partners.
• Financially competent with experience of budgetary control, reading management accounts and reporting to trustees.
• Excellent communicator, credible at both operational detail and strategic discussion, with highly developed stakeholder engagement skills.
• Knowledge of domestic abuse and trauma-informed approaches is essential (practical experience in the VAWG sector strongly preferred).
• Commitment to equality, diversity and survivor-centred practice and the ability to travel across the boroughs and work flexibly.

• Desirable: experience of working within statutory commissioning environments and experience of accreditation/standards (for example Women’s Aid) or practical organisational transition/partnership development.
