We are seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join our friendly publishing team at the British Ecological Society (BES) and support the team in the general running of the BES’ portfolio of ecology journals.

You’ll be looking to build a career in scientific publishing and be eager to learn from a team of internal colleagues and external academic editors. You’ll enjoy staying on top of a range of tasks and be great at working independently and as part of a busy team. You’ll have excellent attention to detail and be effective, friendly, and customer-oriented in your email communications.

The successful candidate will become part of a team seeking to excite and inspire our various audiences in ecology at a time when our science has never been more relevant for society.

About the role

Working across the BES journal portfolio, the Publishing Assistant will:

• Check in new submissions of scientific papers to ensure that manuscripts are complete and authors have adhered to journal policies before passing manuscripts on to Editors for content evaluation.
• In collaboration with the editorial team, monitor progress on manuscripts in the submission system to identify and help resolve potential bottlenecks in peer review.
• Assist in managing the journal inboxes, dealing with straightforward manuscript-related messages from authors, reviewers and external editors.
• Ensure that accurate records are maintained in the submission system on the processing of all manuscripts.
• Carry out post-acceptance checks on manuscripts and liaise with production team when requested, particularly during periods of annual leave for editorial office colleagues.
• Assist in regular performance statistics reporting across the journal portfolio.
• The post holder will also have some opportunity to learn about other aspects of editorial office management, including journal development and marketing and support promotion of articles via social media accounts and press releases.

Benefits

4-day week

The BES offer a voluntary, opt-in 4-day working week model for all full time staff. Staff who opt-in may work 32 hours over 4 or 4.5 days at no loss of salary.

Leave

Employees receive 25 days annual leave, increasing by 1 each year to a maximum of 30 days, plus additional leave between Christmas and New Years.

The BES also offers a generous paid sick leave policy.

Pension

The BES contributes the equivalent of 8% of your annual salary into a sustainable pension fund. You are welcome to top this up at with your salary at your own discretion.

Hybrid Working

BES staff are based at least 10 days per month at our office near Old Street in London.

We are looking to appoint a full-time Audio-Visual Production Engineer with good organisational skills to help facilitate production in the growing ministries at Holy Trinity Cambridge, working with and reporting to the Senior Worship Pastor. 

HT is a vibrant, evangelical, charismatic Anglican church, with a large and growing church family of all ages and stages. This is primarily an audio- and team-focused job, but you will be working alongside the Worship Team and other HT ministries to deliver the audio-visual production (including live stream) aspect of the HT worship ministry. In addition to our Sunday services, you’ll deliver AV production for a wide range of events, both inside and outside the church buildings, including weddings and funerals, as well as kids, youth, student, Easter, and Christmas events. Alongside audio set up and mixing bands and voices for the best quality sound possible, both in the room and online, we will draw on your skills to train up and develop volunteers to help deliver these services and events, as well as build systems on our audio equipment that ensure sound is consistent with volunteer operation of audio equipment.

The Social Media and Digital Content Manager is central to shaping and delivering the Young Vic's social media and digital content strategies. This role will take ownership of the Young Vic’s social media channels, promoting the full scope of programming and projects and bringing the Young Vic’s brand and tone of voice to life for our online audiences. What does this role do?
As Programme Manager (Income Generation), you will:

• apply standardised project management lifecycles, methodologies and governance to all activity in the Income Generation division, ensuring all work is aligned with strategic objectives,

Fundraising and Data Support

• Managing Contacts: Ensuring that up-to-date records are kept throughout our CRM (Salesforce)
• Financial Processing: Responsible for adding weekly bank donations onto Salesforce and working with the Finance Team to reconciling income and assist with gift processing
• Supporter Care: Lead on thanking supporters, specifically managing emails and cards 
• Legacy Administration: Assist with the administration of legacy giving, including thanking donors for pledges and gifts.
• Prospect Research: Support the Fundraising Manager in carrying out research into potential prospects and networks to help expand the Trust's reach.

Events - Logistics and Administration

• Guest Management: Support event logistics by using our CRM to manage all aspects of our events including guest lists, RSVPs, and creating name badges for attendees
• Box Office Function: Act as a point of contact for event booking enquiries and assist with seating plans
• On-site Support and post-event coordination

Communications and Digital Engagement

• Inbox Management ensuring timely and professional responses
• Social Media: Assist with digital engagement by managing DMs, replying to comments, and creating content.
• Print Advertising: Manage the logistics of print advertising

General / Team Support

• Inventory Management: Maintain an organized inventory of fundraising and event materials, such as banners, stationery, and merchandise
• Team Collaboration: Provide general administrative support to the ER team and contribute creative ideas for improving supporter care and donor engagement

The Delivery Manager leads a team of Switchback Mentors who work within prisons and the community, ensuring they have the support, systems, and processes in place to deliver the Switchback programme effectively and maximise the impact for Trainees.

Caseloads are deliberately small, with Mentors working with no more than five to eight Trainees at a time, and a current annual Traineeminimumtarget of 12.

The post holderis responsible forline managing Switchback Mentors, providing support, development, and motivation to ensure high-quality delivery of the programme in line with the organisation's approach and values.

The Delivery Manager will ensure operational processes are well-developed and consistently implemented and work alongside the Head of Delivery and other Delivery Managers to ensure insights from Trainee engagement inform the continued development of the programme andmethodology.

The role will also support the Head of Delivery in piloting and assessingnew approachesand adaptations, contributing to the organisation’s strategicvisionand ensuring the programme continues to strengthen and grow to reach more people in the justice system
