Historically, the organisation has delivered a grant giving programme but has evolved over the past ten years to provide a holistic service to clients that includes financial grants, advocacy,fmaily support,psychotherapy, volunteering opportunities and social events. 

Most of our clients have support need over and above financial assistance.  Many are socially excluded from society and face a combination of linked problems such as unemployment, discrimination, poor skills, low incomes, poor housing, living in areas of high crime, bad health and family breakdown. These problems are linked and mutually reinforcing so that they can create a vicious cycle in people’s lives. 

For this role its expected you have experience working with families who need support with complex issues and engage with them to work out solutions and postive outcomes.

About the role 

This vacancy is for a University Access Officer to work in two of our schools in Hornsey and East Finchley, London. If there is a possibility to extend contract beyond the fixed term, this may include a move to a different school/programme.

The University Access Officer works with school staff at all levels, volunteer tutors and coaches, and with the rest of The Access Project’s team to ensure that the delivery of our programmes is optimised.

Role responsibilities

• Work directly with students, mentoring in a professional and safe manner. 
• Engage with school staff, your Programme Manager, and students in school to ensure that you have fully enrolled cohorts across both programmes. 
• Assess student progress towards being able to make successful Key Stage 5 and university applications. 
• Upload information onto the Salesforce database in a timely manner (training is provided). 
• Work with school staff to ensure their cooperation and timely completion of activities contributing to the smooth running of the programmes. 
• Present at termly school meetings with Senior Management to report on our programmes progress. 
• Support the wider team by attending university site visits which take place on occasional Saturdays and weekday evenings (paid time off is provided).

• Manage volunteer tutor attendance to tutorials through weekly monitoring systems.

• Build and manage relationships with volunteer tutors to ensure they have a positive experience of the programme. 
• Manage students’ relationships with volunteer tutors through monitoring of systems, emailing and making phone calls.

Training and Development

You will be provided with regular monthly training so that you can develop your skills and succeed in the role. There is support from your line manager (Programme Manager), as well as guidance from more senior University Access Officers and the wider University Access Officer team across The Access Project. There are opportunities for progression, including several additional responsibility roles which are available for University Access Officers to apply for once they have completed their probationary period successfully.

Bioregional Learning Centre (BLC) is a place-based systems-change organisation rooted in South Devon. We work with communities, institutions and landscapes to grow the capacities needed for a regenerative, climate resilient, bioregional future.

We are seeking a Bioregional Learning Manager to help design and run a new learning programme in bioregional practice and to coordinate the emerging Bioregional Learning Alliance – an international community of practitioner-educators.

This is a new kind of role. We’re not looking for a ‘finished article’ or a conventional academic. We’re looking for someone who is values-led, curious and organised, and who wants to co-create something pioneering alongside others.

• Co-design and evolve a practice-led curriculum in bioregional learning and leadership (online and in-person).

This is an exciting role working with the guidance of the Peer Coordinator and in partnership with the London Joint Working Group, local substance use services, the Harm Reduction Peer Support Lead  will support the delivery of a peer led needle and syringe program (NSP) across the borough of Hackney at SWERVE the Harm Reduction Hub. This will include supporting delivery of the service and developing relationships and partnership working with local statutory and voluntary service providers who provide support and care for our potential client group.

The Female Harm Reduction Peer Support Lead will assist in the delivery of secondary NSP provision, naloxone distribution and educational workshops to communities where women are in need including outreach from the Hackney Harm Reduction Hub to for example sex workers, BAME communities, LGBTQI and people who suffer domestic and gender based violence, with a view to enhancing harm reduction provision across the area.

About Chapter One

Chapter One is a small but growing charity, working to ensure that every child has 1:1 reading support at the time they need it most.

Our unique Online Reading Volunteer programme currently supports about 3,500 children a year. It pairs disadvantaged, struggling five to eight-year old (KS1) readers with reading support volunteers who come from over 180 local and national businesses. The volunteer task is very focused: readers commit 30 minutes a week to read with a child using a bespoke digital platform for an entire academic year. The results are transformative, boosting children's reading confidence and ability.

About the role

Chapter One is seeking a proactive, energetic and enthusiastic Business Development Officer to be an integral part of a team which aims to both maximise corporate income and take Chapter One into new regions across the UK.

• Conduct administrative duties as required to support the Business Development Manager

• Attend online and in person meetings, conferences and events to represent Chapter One, talk about its work and recruit partners.

• An understanding of social media platforms, particularly LinkedIn.

• Able to take personal accountability for own workload and for delivery of targets

• A ‘can do’ and flexible approach with an ability adapt to changing priorities

• Awareness of the importance of data security best practice and GDPR regulations when processing a range of stakeholder data

• Highly computer literate, particularly in Excel, with hands-on experience of using Google suite and platforms and tools such as Salesforce CRM, Mailchimp, PowerPoint and more.

You’ll be more successful in the role if you have:

• Experience of using social media to develop business relationships

• Experience of achieving annual sales targets

• A background in CSR or social value

Following an internal promotion, the Development and Advocacy Department are looking to appoint an experienced Philanthropy Manager to join our Philanthropy team. In this exciting and dynamic role you will manage a number of philanthropic relationships and make a significant contribution to the team through developing new initiatives and growing the portfolio.

The ideal candidate profile for this post will be a team player, with the following credentials:

• An established track record in philanthropy or fundraising for major organisations
• Demonstrated success in managing a portfolio of high value relationships with experience of personally securing significant gifts
• Ability to think strategically to devise relevant engagement and cultivation plans and identify opportunities for approaches to prospects
• A balance of experience and innovation to be able to develop new ideas and launch new initiatives successfully
• Credibility as an ambassador in the area of philanthropy, able to work effectively at senior levels and liaise with high-net-worth individuals
• Strong project management skills, with demonstrable experience of solving complex problems, drawing on given resources and collaborative working

A working knowledge of our repertoire is not a pre-requisite for this role but the ability to upskill quickly in our art forms in order to confidently speak to prospective donors is essential.

We are expanding our youth provision into West Thurrock, and we’re looking for an experienced, energetic Senior Youth Worker with a Sports background to help us put sport at the heart of what we do. This is a hands-on role for someone who loves working with young people, thrives in active environments, and can confidently lead day‑to‑day delivery across multiple sites.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Lead delivery on our sports programmes across two vibrant sites, creating sessions that young people genuinely want to show up for.
• Play a key role in Riverview’s expansion into West Thurrock, helping us build something new, exciting, and community‑driven from the ground up.
• Take sport into the streets and into young people’s spaces, using outreach, pop‑ups, and creative engagement to connect with those who need us most.

SHAK (South Hampstead and Kilburn Community Partnership) is a resident led charity based on the Alexandra and Ainsworth estate in the Kilburn Ward of Camden, London, dedicated to supporting residents and young people living in an area of high deprivation.

Our Mission is to work with local young people and adults to improve well-being, inclusion and life chances by nurturing talents, passions, skills and confidence.

Our Vision is of a place where everyone can live, learn and grow together.

We do this by identifying and meeting local needs with a range of opportunities in areas of lifelong learning, youth activities, community involvement, employment support, advice and guidance, volunteering, events etc.

If successful you will be based at “The ARC Youth Club”, an estate based youth led centre with integrated music studio, kitchen, games and "chill-out" space. The ARC engages approximately 250 young people per year and plays a vital role in their welfare and development outside of school. In holidays we offer a full program of activities and free meals for young people who may otherwise miss out.

You will deliver a range of activities e.g. cooking, arts & crafts, sports, trips, music, events etc. You will also offer support and guidance for local young people and enable them to develop life long skills while designing and running their own projects, forums etc. In school holidays you will be required to work an expected 28 hrs a week as we offer a full program of activities and free meals for young people

Duties Include:

Promoting and delivering activities for young people aged 9-19 yrs  (up to 25yrs for young people with SEND), 3 nights a week during term time, hours 3-8pm (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday), and 4 days a week during school holidays, hours 11.30am-7pm (Tuesday-Friday). There also may be times when you are required to work outside of these hours

Engaging with a range of young people from diverse backgrounds and with multiple needs with a focus on developing and running a programme for girls and young women. 

Ensuring safeguarding standards are maintained and other policies and procedures are upheld

Facilitate and support intergenerational projects 

Working in partnership with other organisations to meet local needs

Acting as an effective part of the youth team and wider SHAK team supporting community activities as needed

Admin and reporting duties as required

Skills & Experience

• Relevant youth work qualification or equivalent and significant, relevant experience of youth service delivery.

• Experience of engaging girls in youth programmes successfully

• Knowledge of youth policies, safeguarding procedures and legislation

• Good communication, people skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.

• Ability to relate, support and engage with wide range of young people

• Proficient with computers, social media and other modern technologies
