OCVA is looking for an organised, proactive, and friendly Administrator to join our team on a maternity cover basis. This is a varied and people-focused role that plays a key part in keeping our organisation running smoothly and supporting colleagues, trustees, and partners.

You will often be the first point of contact for OCVA, managing enquiries through our phone line and inbox, processing post, and helping ensure our office and shared workspace operate effectively and safely. You will also provide administrative support to the CEO and Board of Trustees, including scheduling meetings and circulating paperwork.

The role includes supporting our programme of online and in-person training, working closely with colleagues to schedule sessions, manage registrations and payments, and ensure events run smoothly. Marketing & Communications Officer

The Marketing and Communications Officer will play a key role in delivering Deafblind UK’s marketing and communications activity, helping to tell powerful stories, grow brand awareness, and strengthen engagement with people with lived experience, supporters, funders, and the wider public.

Working alongside the Head of Marketing & Communications, the postholder will act as a proactive and trusted collaborator, supporting teams across services, fundraising, volunteering and operations. This role is not only about delivering day-to-day communications; it will also play a key part in our next stage of growth—bringing energy, creativity and new ways of thinking to help us expand our influence and impact.

Responsibilities

Content & Campaigns

• Research, write and publish engaging content across multiple channels (website, social media, email, press, print).
• Create photo and video content.
• Develop case studies and human-interest stories that bring Deafblind UK’s work to life.
• Support the planning and delivery of national campaigns (e.g. Deafblind Awareness Week, annual conference, fundraising appeals).
• Produce and schedule content using tools such as Hootsuite, Mailchimp and Canva (or similar).
• Internal Business Partnering
• Act as a responsive and proactive marketing partner for internal teams, building strong relationships with colleagues across the organisation.
• Understand the goals and priorities of internal stakeholders, translating them into effective communications outputs.
• Respond promptly to requests for marketing and communications support, prioritising, managing resources advising and guiding colleagues to achieve the best outcomes.
• Coordinate internal communications and updates to ensure all staff and volunteers feel informed and inspired by Deafblind UK’s work.

Digital Marketing

• Maintain and update website content and e-marketing, ensuring accessibility, accuracy and alignment with brand guidelines.
• Support the growth of Deafblind UK’s digital audiences, accurately and consistently tracking engagement and reach using analytics and insights and adjusting approaches accordingly.
• Measuring and reporting on digital outcomes, keeping up to date with best practices and new opportunities.
• Assist in the creation and delivery of paid digital activity (social and search).
• Ensure all communications adhere to accessibility and inclusion best practice.
• Media & PR
• Support media monitoring and maintain up-to-date media contact lists.
• Using strong news and political instincts to respond to media enquiries in coordination with the Head of Marketing & Communications.
• Help identify and prepare case studies, photography, and spokespeople for press opportunities.

Brand & Internal Communications

• Champion consistent use of Deafblind UK’s brand, tone of voice, and visual identity across all channels.
• Support colleagues to apply the brand effectively in their own materials and communications.
• Contribute to internal communications such as newsletters, intranet content and staff updates.

Events & Partnerships

• Assist in the planning and delivery of events, exhibitions, and partnership activations.
• Liaise with suppliers, freelancers, and creative agencies when required.

• Track KPIs and engagement data, compiling regular reports on digital and media performance.
• Contribute creative ideas and insights to improve marketing effectiveness and internal collaboration.

Person Specification

Experience & Skills

• Significant experience in marketing, communications, or/and PR
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a flair for storytelling.
• Proven ability to manage relationships and provide high-quality support to internal stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of social media platforms, content scheduling, and analytics – and a proactive interest in adapting to trends and changes in best practice.

This is an exciting position for an exceptional person with a strong campaigning background to work for one of the UK’s leading rights NGOs. Campaigns

• Develop and execute quarterly campaigns plans to manage and schedule relevant advocacy, policy and research work to further our strategic aims

• Co-ordinate a high-performing, multi-disciplinary team to pursue campaign goals

• Identify advocacy and press opportunities to further campaign aims

• Strategise/oversee development of campaign materials & engaging supporter actions 

• Promote Big Brother Watch’s campaigns in the media, writing articles and giving quotes/live interviews to press and for our social media channels

• Uphold Big Brother Watch’s reputational excellence in public fora 

• Work with Director to periodically set campaign priorities in our organisational strategy

Change Grow Live is a health and social care charity. Across the country, we support people to make positive changes in their lives, including around drug and alcohol use, smoking, homelessness and criminal justice.

As a Business Development Officer, you’ll play a key part in helping us secure new contracts and deliver high‑quality services for adults, children and young people. You’ll work with colleagues across the organisation to develop excellent written material for bids and proposals. This role offers a great opportunity to learn and develop while using your established skills, and you’ll be encouraged to take on more responsibility as you progress.

Your day-to-day will include:

• Writing and editing multiple complex bid responses within live tenders
• Working with colleagues across the organisation to gather information and evidence

We accompany our partners for the long term, solidarity with our partners and their communities is at the core of how we work. This means we have developed relationships over the years, based on mutual respect, reciprocity and transparency. We are not governed by donor funding cycles and agendas but are led by our partners and the needs they identify and are committed to shared learning and collaboration. We keep our UK costs to a minimum with core staff and rely on an active and engaged set of Trustees, volunteers and supporters.  Both staff and Trustees of Action Village India have relationships with staff from our partner organisations, created through ongoing dialogue, partner and community visits and participation in learning forums.

Key details

• Salary: £30,000 pro rata
• Hours: 14 hours per week (2 days), ideally Wednesday and Thursday
• Strong possibility of increasing to 21 hours (3 days) in future
• Option to work up to 8 additional paid event days per year (e.g. WOMAD), reviewed annually

Key responsibilities

Fundraising and donor management

• Research, develop and submit fundraising proposals to trusts, foundations and major donors
• Maintain accurate fundraising trackers for applications and reporting deadlines
• Coordinate partner inputs for monitoring and donor reports
• Support the Executive Director with fundraising and reporting to trusts and individuals

Events

• Plan and manage Action Village India events across the year
• Attend fundraising events (including evenings and weekends, as agreed)
• Attend WOMAD festival and support delivery of Action Village India’s stall and presence

Individual giving

• Plan and deliver regular appeals and supporter communications
• Develop new ways to engage supporters and grow individual giving income
• Build strong supporter journeys to retain and deepen engagement

Communications and development

• Create compelling fundraising and supporter communications
• Contribute to newsletters, annual reports and appeals
• Coordinate content for events and exhibitions, including WOMAD
• Work with partners to generate stories, updates and visual content
• Manage organisational content such as leaflets, webpages and reports
• Work closely with the Communications and Administrative Officer on social media and CRM content

Person specification

Essential experience

• Minimum three years’ experience in fundraising (trusts and foundations, events and individual giving)
• Proven success securing funding from UK trusts and foundations
• Strong proposal and report writing skills
• Experience co-organising fundraising events

Knowledge and skills

• Knowledge of UK trusts, foundations and institutional funders
• Understanding of the international development and solidarity sector
• Knowledge of Charity Law, Data Protection and the Fundraising Code of Practice
• Excellent written communication skills for diverse audiences
• Proficiency in Excel

Personal qualities

• Passion for social justice and supporting marginalised communities in India
• Highly organised, self-motivated and able to manage competing priorities
• Comfortable working independently in a small team
• Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural relationship-building skills

Desirable

• Experience working with NGOs, particularly in Asia and India
• International development experience
• Photoshop and InDesign skills
• Clean driving licence

Other requirements

• Willingness to work some evenings and weekends and attend WOMAD (late July)
• Ability to travel to rural India if required
