ECRN Regional Manager | The British Academy

The British Academy – the UK’s national body for the humanities and social sciences - is seeking a Regional Manager to join our friendly and collaborative team in the Research Directorate, providing key support in the delivery of the Early Career Researcher Network.
The ECRN Regional Manager will work closely with the Head of ECRN to oversee the day-to-day operations and logistics of the Network. This includes line management of three Regional Coordinators, as well as supporting budget oversight and financial management across all regional activities.
You will contribute to the development and implementation of efficient working systems, policies, and processes, and collaborate with the Head of ECRN to identify and resolve operational challenges as they arise.
A core responsibility of the role is to lead on the delivery and coordination of ECRN activities. This includes line managing three Regional Coordinators; overseeing and supporting regional clusters; processing invoices and monitoring budgets; preparing reports and updates for internal and external audiences; identifying growth opportunities for the Network; liaising with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
The ideal candidate for this role, will bring strong project management skills, financial and budget oversight experience, and a background in line management within an office or organisational setting. Strategic thinking, proactivity, and resilience are essential, alongside the ability to prioritise effectively and solve problems in dynamic environments.
You will be an excellent communicator, capable of building collaborative relationships with colleagues across the British Academy and beyond, including external facilitators, partners, and stakeholders. Your keen attention to detail, inclusive mindset, and commitment to team-oriented working will be central to maintaining the quality, coherence, and impact of programme delivery. Overall Objectives
To support women who have been subjected to domestic abuse, ‘so called’ honor-based abuse and or forced marriage to navigate the barriers faced in their journey to recovery.
To provide holistic and trauma-informed support to women residing across Pdap’s refuge services who have experienced domestic abuse. The post will have a strong emphasis on supporting empowerment through one to one and group-based activities. This role will deliver targeted interventions, facilitate group activities that promote confidence and self-efficacy, and provide flexible, ad hoc support to a small caseload of women.
The successful applicant will embody the Pdap values and keep the client at the heart of everything they do.
Particular Tasks of the Postholder
The postholder will provide client-centred support and advocate for victims of domestic abuse by;
1. Providing bespoke 1 to 1 support sessions:
• Provide one-to-one support tailored to the needs of women affected by domestic abuse.
• Help women rebuild post-abuse.
• Complete support plans with women to ascertain their needs and work with them to achieve their goals
• To support women to access housing and other key services
• To ensure women have the means to live independently including support to access finance and education
2. Facilitating Group Activities
• Alongside the wider DAP team to design and facilitate a regular programme of group activities aimed at building confidence, skills, and emotional wellbeing.
• Promote peer support, personal development, and recovery through workshops on topics such as self-esteem, healthy relationships, assertiveness, and life skills.
• Encourage participation and co-production by involving women in planning and leading group sessions where appropriate.
3. Individual Support
• Hold a small, manageable caseload and provide responsive, ad hoc support as needed.
• Conduct holistic, trauma-informed assessments, support plans and safety planning.
• Empower women to make informed choices and access relevant services (e.g. legal, housing, benefits, health).
• Advocate on behalf of residents where necessary to ensure their rights and needs are met.
4. Partnership and Safeguarding
• Work closely with external agencies (e.g. social services, schools, health professionals) to ensure coordinated support.
• Proactively contribute to multi-agency safeguarding and risk management procedures.

About the role
The Research and Evaluation Manager will work to position King’s College London as a sector leader on conducting institutional evaluation and research to understand how we can support students from underrepresented groups to access university and succeed at university. Our team aims to generate causal evidence, either through Randomised Controlled Trials or Quasi-experimental designs.

What you'll actually do
This role owns marketing as a growth engine. You'll set strategy, drive execution across multiple channels, and be accountable for how marketing translates into event sign-ups, fundraising growth, profile, and impact. You'll work closely with the Fundraising Director to shape priorities, influence decisions, and build something that scales.
Drive growth marketing that converts

Own end-to-end marketing for our events portfolio: from launch campaigns to sell-out.

Build and execute multi-channel campaigns across social, email, paid ads, PR, partnerships, and whatever else works.

Test everything. Audiences, messages, creative, channels. Find what works, double down, and scale it.

Use data to spot opportunities: which channels are converting? Where are we leaving growth on the table? What could we do differently?

Manage our digital advertising and paid social strategy with a ruthless focus on ROI.

Grow our email database and social audiences with intent, not just for vanity metrics.

Be trusted to repeatedly turn £1 into £5 or £10.

Define and unleash our audiences: help them share their stories in a way that turns experiences into future sales, and makes everything that Level Water does easier.

Build and manage our captain and ambassador programmes as genuine growth engines - nurturing relationships, setting expectations, and turning influence into measurable impact.

Proactively convert interest into action. This includes direct outreach (e.g. picking up the phone to captains, engaging top fundraisers, activating ambassadors) to ensure intent turns into ticket sales and fundraising.
Tell stories that build belief

Find, shape, and share the stories that show our impact: the children, the families, the teachers, the moments that matter.

Build and curate a library of content (video, photography, case studies, testimonials) that we can use everywhere.

Work with freelance photographers and videographers to capture our events and programmes at their best.

Create content that our supporters, partners, and prospects actually want to engage with, not just content that ticks a box.

Manage our website (fundraising, events, and programmes pages) to ensure it's always up to date, compelling, and optimised for conversion.

Ensure our impact reporting to donors is rich with content about our work.

Use storytelling internally to build shared understanding, momentum and belief across the charity as we scale.
Build our profile and partnerships

Position Level Water as a leader in accessible swimming and outdoor challenge events.

Build and leverage relationships with press, influencers, local authorities, and stakeholders.

Identify partnership and sponsorship opportunities that align with our mission and drive growth.

Amplify examples of inclusion within our pools, making them known and also making inclusive practice visible.

Promote our swimming pool partners and recognise their contribution to our work.
Manage, measure, and improve

Own the marketing budget and get maximum value from every pound spent.

Manage our freelance network: scope projects, review proposals, and ensure quality work on time and on budget.

Report regularly on what's working and what's not: campaign performance, audience growth, conversion rates, ROI.

Stay ahead of the curve: what are the best organisations doing? What can we learn and adapt?

Practical details

Flexible working: remote, hybrid, or (even better) office-based in Tunbridge Wells or Exeter, your choice.

You'll attend weekend events throughout the summer (with time off in lieu).

Salary: £30k–£45k depending on experience.
