Job Title: Refuge Worker

Location: This is an onsite role, located within the London Borough of Hounslow, there may be a requirement to occasionally work in the London Borough of Hillingdon.
Salary: £28, 857.12 per annum (Inclusive of London Weighting, which may not be applicable depending on your home location)

Animal Equality’s campaigns have driven Parliamentary debates, legal victories, policy shifts, corporate commitments, mainstream media coverage, and inspired thousands of individuals to change their diets.

We are seeking a creative, driven, and strategic Campaigns Coordinator to deliver our current high-impact campaigns with a view to exposing the cruel animal agriculture industries, influencing decision-makers, and mobilising the public to create lasting change for farmed animals.

Working closely with team members, the Campaigns Coordinator will design and deliver imaginative campaigns while working in alignment with the organisation’s wider mission: to end factory farming. The role requires initiative, creativity, tenacity, and a solutions-focused mindset, as well as the discipline to execute projects effectively and professionally.

The Campaigns Coordinator will report to the Executive Director and work closely with others across our UK and international teams. The appointee will play a key role in coordinating and inspiring volunteers and external stakeholders.

The Campaigns Coordinator will have opportunities to travel across the UK and internationally to organise and lead peaceful demonstrations, ensuring Animal Equality maintains a visible, strategic, and compelling presence at key decision-making moments. While not common, occasional evening or weekend work may be necessary to support campaigning activities. Any additional hours worked and agreed with your Manager can be reclaimed as TOIL.

Main Responsibilities:

Office & Administrative Operations

Event & Travel Coordination

Communications & Public-Facing Support

Systems & Organisation

You will be working directly with refugee clients, providing high quality 1:1 advice and guidance to help them on their employment journey. Job Description 

Lead research and policy projects 

You will lead our Research and Policy team and manage our research experts. This will include leading on existing and new projects from concept design to funder reporting, as well as conducting research in different areas of economic and social policy like social security, pensions, VAWG, labour market, social care, etc.

Maintain and forge external partnerships 

You will maintain, identify and forge new collaborations with academics, feminist organisations and economics think tanks. 

Represent WBG at external events and to the media 

You will represent WBG in meetings with key stakeholders and speak at external events. You will also be a spokesperson for the press, radio and broadcast TV to promote WBG’s research and analysis. 

Contribute to our advocacy strategy 

You will work closely with our Communications and Public Affairs team to ensure our research outputs are relevant to our advocacy goals and that they are accessible to a wide range of audiences, including policymakers, politicians, journalists, and feminist campaigning organisations. 

Supervise our research and policy support programme 

In collaboration with our Head of Training and Capacity Building you will expand our programme of research and policy support for grassroots organisations in the UK and internationally.

The Museums Association (MA) is seeking a part time Policy Officer to play a leading role in developing our policy and campaigns work.

You will support committees and stakeholders, help to draft policy papers and support the development and delivery of communication and dissemination plans. Support homelessness people by helping them into stable accommodation, improve their health and wellbeing, and gain independence.

About the role

This role will play a vital role in supporting guests using our all year-round Day Centre and Night Shelter. You will work within a casework team working with clients on a 1:1 basis to develop and deliver individual support plans and will work in partnership with local organisations to provide a joined-up response to homelessness. Recognising homelessness is often a result of complex and multiple problems, you will use your communication and organisational skills to work with existing agencies and organisations to identify the best course of action for each individual. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals experiencing homelessness while developing your skills in communication and fundraising to support the charity's mission. We as an organisation are committed to ongoing professional development through our network of partners and support organisations both local and national. The variety within this role would suit someone who is looking to gain casework experience, or someone looking to broaden their existing knowledge.

Key responsibilities:

Operational

• Support the assessment of referrals in partnership with external referral agencies to determine suitability for all of our services
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on the client database, ensuring all information is handled securely and confidentially
• Work closely and collaboratively with colleagues, volunteers, and external support organisations to provide coordinated support.

Client engagement

• Assist in co-producing and delivering personalised support plans with each client that reflect their goals
• Take responsibility for a cohort of clients and undertake regular check-ins with them, liaising with external agencies to explore appropriate move-on options
• Help coordinate transitions from GHP services to next-stage accommodation or support
• Build positive relationships with clients, engaging with empathy, professionalism, and respect
• Offer wider support and referrals around welfare, housing, and wellbeing issues as determined by their personal support plan.

Service Development

• Develop personable & positive working relationships with a wide range of local services
• Contribute ideas to improve client processes and service delivery
• Assist in collecting and reporting feedback and data to support service evaluation to a range of stakeholders including trustees, funders and others.

Organisational engagement 

• Contribute to organisational strategic planning and review of progress
• Contribute to the development of grant proposals and reporting as required

What could my day look like?

The Education Worker role is a frontline, fast-paced and rewarding role where no two weeks will look the same. A typical day will have different activities, possibly spread between the IntoUniversity centre, partner schools and the offices of a corporate partner.

In the morning, you might be setting off with resources to run a workshop for sixth-form students in their secondary school. In the afternoon you may be setting up the classroom ahead of running Primary Academic Support for young people in your IntoUniversity centre. On other days, you may be travelling to a corporate partner to run a business simulation workshop for 15 year-olds or leading a group of final year primary school students on a campus visit for their graduation.

As an Education Worker, you’ll always be delivering the programme as part of your centre team, which means that any delivery is always a team effort.

Purpose 

The Living Wage Foundation has an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic team as a Communications Officer. We are looking for an exceptionally motivated and organised individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced, high-profile communications environment.

The role will support the objectives of the Living Wage Foundation and Citizens UK by communicating our work to a wide range of audiences, including senior business leaders and politicians, through a mix of communications methods: social media, newsletters, media outlets, website and internal communications channels. The role will be predominantly focused on work and wages activity through the Living Wage Foundation, but there will be opportunities to support cross-Citizens UK communications activity including for example: campaigns on housing, refugees and more. 

This post will be joining a Communications team that spans media, digital communications, research and events, with colleagues based across the UK with monthly in-person team meetings. 

The post holder will support the delivery of our media and press office activity, including monitoring media coverage, supporting with journalist enquiries, and helping to develop proactive press campaigns to build awareness of the Living Wage Foundation’s work. They will also support the creation of written and visual content across our channels and help monitor and manage our social media presence on a day-to-day basis. The role will work closely to support the Communications team’s work and help communicate the work of the wider-team and our employer network. 

The role is also responsible for key communications with our network of over 16,000 accredited Living Wage Employers, including our monthly newsletters, blogs, videos and case studies to celebrate our network of accredited employers   

The position would suit an applicant with strong written and communication skills, with some experience of working within a communications team and a passion for press work, social media and content creation.  

We don’t expect you to have experience of all areas of this job. Training will be provided to help you develop into this role. 

Main Responsibilities 

Working as a Communications Officer for the Living Wage Foundation, reporting to the Media Manager, your main responsibilities will include: 

Media 

• Contribute to media strategies and plans that help to win public, business and political support for the Living Wage Foundation and its work 

• Write compelling press releases, blogs and opinion editorials to promote the Living Wage Foundation’s work 

• Support story gathering and storytelling development with workers, employers and others affected by low pay and insecure work, ensuring lived experience and employer voices are reflected effectively across media work and wider communications platforms 

• Build effective relationships with the media, colleagues and other stakeholders to find new ways to raise our profile 

• Monitor and evaluate media campaigns and reports

• Maintain and regularly update communications resources, including press contact lists, internal databases and other media materials 

• Participate in the out of hours duty press (being on hand to very occasionally answer emails and phone calls in the evenings or weekends) 

Social and digital media 

• Oversee our digital communications channels to raise awareness of the Living Wage and our wider accreditation schemes, champion responsible employers and grow our movement. 

• Help the team keep up to date with social media trends and opportunities.

• Create, manage and schedule posts for our social media channels including, LinkedIn, Instagram, Bluesky, Facebook and YouTube, tailoring the content to different channels and audiences. 

• Monitor our social media channels, replying to enquiries from the public and our networks of supporters and employers and flagging any potential issues to the wider team 

Content creation 

• Working with the communication team, design and implement engaging digital engagement campaigns for Living Wage Employers and supporters, and to support Living Wage Foundation campaigns.

• Design communications collateral to increase engagement on social media, including creation and editing of short-form videos for our online channels and creation of social media graphics. 

• Improve our digital offering for our network of accredited Living Wage, Living Hours and Living Pension Employers, by creating resources and improving our communications support. 

• Liaise with the Living Wage and Citizens UK team to keep up-to-date with news to share with key stakeholders 

• Collate and summarise content to schedule newsletters and updates for our varied audiences. 

• Support in adoption of updated brand across our communications content and materials, supporting others to use brand and tone of voice guidelines. 

• Sourcing and creating original content for both the Living Wage Foundation and external websites, including creating blog posts, news, guidance and general pages. 

• Auditing and reviewing existing website content to ensure it is effective and up-to-date. Support on improvements and developments where necessary. 

Network communications 

• Drafting email communications to support the experience of our network of accredited employers, including regular newsletters as well as automated email content for new accreditations.

• Work closely with the Operations and Insight team to put in place the communications infrastructure to help our network of employers engage with us online, e.g. utilising our online dashboard for accredited members and creating new resources.

General 

• Administrate and facilitate communications team meetings. 

• Communications support for key events and campaign moments including the annual Champion Awards and Living Wage Week 

• Monitor communications outputs, analyse performance data and evaluate impact to support learning and improvement across our communications work

Children and Young People's Lead

Location: Hybrid

We are looking for a committed Children and Young People’s Lead to deliver our UK wide programme of support and positive activities for young people aged 11 – 25 who have been impacted by meningitis, including the current Believe and Achieve programme, and to support new developments within our work.

Events and Communications:

• Plan and deliver a range of face to face and online events that help young people feel part of a supportive community.
• Identify opportunities for young people to participate in lived experience panels, peer mentoring, volunteering and storytelling.
