Job summary:
As our Philanthropy Manager, you'll lead our trusts and foundations fundraising while building meaningful relationships with major donors who share our vision. Working closely with the Director of Fundraising & Communications, CEO and Trustees, you'll help build and grow our philanthropy programme, securing significant gifts and developing long-term partnerships that enable more people living with MS to access trusted information, evidence-based lifestyle guidance and a supportive community.
This is a rare opportunity for an ambitious fundraiser who enjoys building something new. You'll have the freedom to shape a growing philanthropy programme, develop new opportunities and play a central role in delivering our fundraising strategy.
About you
You're an experienced relationship fundraiser with a successful track record in trusts and foundations and/or major donor fundraising.
You'll bring:
- A proven track record of securing significant five-figure gifts and grants, with experience developing or securing six-figure funding opportunities.
- Excellent proposal and bid writing skills.
- Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management experience.
- Confidence working with philanthropists, senior decision-makers and trustees.

Key responsibilities and duties:
The role comprises of the following key areas of responsibility:
Trusts and Foundations
- Lead and develop our trusts and foundations fundraising programme.
- Build and manage a strong pipeline of prospective charitable trusts and foundations.
- Research and identify new funding opportunities aligned to Overcoming MS' strategic priorities.
- Develop compelling funding applications, reports and proposals.
- Deliver excellent stewardship and timely reporting to existing funders.
Major Donors
- Develop and manage relationships with existing and prospective major donors.
- Work with the Director of Fundraising & Communications, CEO and Trustees to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward prospective philanthropists.
- Develop tailored cultivation and stewardship plans aligned to supporters' interests and motivations.
- Prepare personalised proposals, presentations and impact reports.
- Secure significant five-figure gifts while developing and progressing opportunities capable of generating transformational six-figure support.
Philanthropy development
- Research and identify opportunities to grow both restricted and unrestricted income.
- Develop compelling cases for support that communicate the impact and ambition of Overcoming MS.
- Collaborate with colleagues across fundraising, communications and services to translate our evidence, insight and organisational priorities into inspiring funding propositions.
- Contribute to philanthropy strategy, pipeline development, income forecasting and long-term fundraising growth.
- Maintain accurate fundraising records, prospect pipelines and reporting through our CRM system.
- Support donor cultivation events and opportunities to deepen supporter engagement.
Compliance and representation
- Act as an ambassador for Overcoming MS, building relationships that increase awareness and support for our work.
- Ensure fundraising activity complies with the Fundraising Regulator's Code of Fundraising Practice, GDPR and organisational policies.
- Keep up to date with fundraising best practice and sector developments.

You will need to understand social enterprise finances, be able to read accounts, budgets, cashflows and have a good knowledge of social enterprise income streams.

Brief role description
The Nova Support Team (NST) Client Advisor plays a key role in the NOVA Support Team, acting as the first point of contact for veterans who have served in the UK armed forces and are at risk of, or are involved in, the criminal justice system. They provide timely initial advice, guidance and support, assess individual needs and connect veterans to appropriate services.
The role includes receiving and triaging referrals, making prompt first contact, completing initial registrations and maintaining accurate and detailed records on the case management system to support effective casework.
Who we're looking for
We are seeking a compassionate and people-focused individual who can build trust and communicate clearly while supporting veterans with a range of complex needs.
You will have experience and guiding and supporting individuals with strong interpersonal skills and the confidence to provide accurate advice and direction. You will also be highly organised, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple cases effectively while handling sensitive information with professionalism and care.
You will be proactive, IT confident and able to work both independently and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate will also bring an understanding of the justice system, experience using Salesforce, or a similar CRM system, and a resilient, adaptable approach.
This is a fixed term position for about 2 years. The contract end date will be confirmed at the offer stage.

Job Title:
Victim Support Casework Team Lead
Salary:
Actual salary is £27,200 per year (FTE £34,000).
Contract/Hours:
Permanent. 4 days per week / 0.8 FTE. The normal working week is 30 hours.
Annual Leave:

About NUM:
National Ugly Mugs (NUM) is a UK-wide charity which delivers a holistic safety, wellbeing and economic support model for sex workers, combining digital harm prevention, specialist casework, mental health support and pathways to economic stability. Activities are delivered UK-wide via a digital platform, remote services, and in-person hubs. We run a wellbeing drop-in service in Glasgow and other in-person services and events in Manchester and London. We have developed Vocational Support Services for those exploring careers both in and outside of sex industries and we run a Racial Justice project and Youth Justice project that makes visible the lived experiences of harm among racialised and young (18-25) sex workers towards systems change.
NUM values those with lived experience in sex industries and work with them to shape services and responses, conduct research, develop education packages, and participate in policy advocacy to change the conditions that lead to survival sex work, gain rights and recognition, and improve the safety of UK-based sex workers.
Background and Responsibilities:
The casework team is at the heart of NUM. We provide vital support from assistance through the criminal justice journey to essential emergency financial support. We are looking for a Casework Team Lead to lead our casework team. This role will specifically focus on the day-to-day running of the casework team alongside carrying your own caseload. The work involves utilising and monitoring our digital platform and CMS maintaining and monitoring the documentation of cases and coordinating responses to ensure sex workers received the high standard of support they deserve, to prevent and recover from violence as well as seek justice and recourse. The Victim Support Casework Team Lead is responsible for maintaining high standards for all digital, individualised and in-person support provided by the casework team. All responsibilities can be grouped under five umbrella categories. The successful candidate will evidence suitability for the role based on the strength areas below:
1) Management: Manage the operations and administration associated with victim and vocational support casework.
2) Leadership: Lead and motivate the team of national case workers towards service excellence. The best leaders can also be led. The successful candidate will value the lived and learned experiences on the casework team and ensure that everyone works to their strengths and strives for the best outcomes for sex workers.
3) High Standards: Support good performance and quality outcomes for sex workers.
4) Creative and Innovative: Ability to strategise and problem-solve. Sex workers experience forms of violence before and after accessing support. At NUM, our principle of 'Sex Workers First' means that we work with them to achieve the outcomes that they desire. Sex workers are in control of their healing and recovery, and it will be the successful candidate's job to ensure that lives are improved as a result of contact with NUM.
5) Well-being Focused: Provide care for the health, safety and welfare of the case work team and the sex workers we serve.
Day-to-day tasks include but are not limited to the following.

Managing your own caseload, providing individualised support to sex workers alongside your leadership role ensuring that sex workers are put at the forefront of all services offered. Maintaining our high standard of support.

Continued monitoring and development of the NUM platform backend functions to find efficiencies and boost productivity. Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) based on new policies and service priorities, new platforms/ procedures, and new innovations or services.

Problem-solving to ensure the smooth and efficient operations of the casework team eg, managing resource and rota’s including leave and absences, delegation of task where appropriate to the casework team.

Audit overview and quarterly reporting to Operations Manager with responsibility for data management and the production of case studies.

External communications with practitioners to ensure best practice of utilising NUM service, promoting NUM membership where possible and attending external meetings as a NUM representative where required.

Host or contribute to the ongoing meetings of the National ISVA/SWISVA forum and continue to foster useful and productive spaces for SWISVAs (specialist sex work ISVA’s) throughout the UK to share experiences, insights towards delivering quality support services to sex workers with maintaining high service standards and prioritising self-care.

Deliver weekly operations meetings, keep them short and concise to discuss operational updates NUM wide/internal. Analyse statistics and case work trends and discuss any issues or take aways with the Operations Manager to inform Casework Team strategy.

Communicate and collaborate with other work streams and projects at NUM. Contribute to organisational priorities and support initiatives that strengthen National Ugly Mugs’ overall impact.

Lead 1-2-1 check-ins and appraisals with staff, acknowledging individual and team success in appropriate ways, motivating the team and resolving conflict and managing team dynamics (with support where needed).

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential Skills and Experience

Demonstrable casework skills, with experience in delivering advice, information, emotional and practical support and advocacy in partnership with health, wellbeing and criminal justice outcomes for individuals who may have experienced traumatic events.

Job Description
This is an exciting leadership opportunity for an experienced people manager who is passionate about developing high-performing teams and delivering sustainable income growth. Working alongside the Head of Fundraising, who provides regional strategic leadership, you'll take the lead on the day-to-day management, coaching and development of a team of Community Fundraisers, creating an environment where people can thrive, perform at their best and deliver exceptional supporter experiences.
You'll play a key role in translating strategy into action, empowering your team to grow income, deepen supporter engagement and maximise opportunities across communities throughout Scotland. Combining strong people leadership with commercial awareness and relationship-building skills, you'll help drive performance while ensuring supporters, volunteers and partners receive an outstanding experience.
In this role, you'll:
- Lead, coach and develop a team of five Community Fundraisers, providing clear direction, support and motivation to help them achieve their goals.
- Embed a high-performance, collaborative and supporter-focused culture across the team.
- Support the Head of Fundraising in delivering regional fundraising plans and priorities across Scotland.
- Monitor team performance against targets, using data and insight to identify opportunities and address challenges.
- Drive income growth by supporting your team to maximise fundraising opportunities and build strong supporter pipelines.
- Manage budgets, resources and workloads effectively to ensure activity delivers strong return on investment.
- Support the delivery of fundraising campaigns, events and community fundraising activity.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, volunteers, community groups, schools, faith organisations, corporate partners and internal stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across Philanthropy, Partnerships, Legacy and In Memory to maximise fundraising opportunities and supporter engagement.

- Experience of driving income growth, sales performance or commercial results through a team.
- Strong performance management skills, with confidence using data, KPIs and insight to inform decisions.

- Experience managing budgets, resources and competing priorities.
- Strong communication and influencing skills.
- A supporter, customer or donor-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering excellent experiences.
