We are recruiting a Member Network Account Manager to join our Member Networks team at the British Psychological Society for a fixed period of 6 months starting in October 2026.

The team supports over 60 psychology‑focused member networks, each with its own specialist interests and passions. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves working with people and wants to make an impact. You will be right at the centre of supporting our Member Networks, helping passionate volunteers bring ideas to life - no two days will be the same.

About the Role

As Member Network Account Manager, you will be the main contact for several Member Networks. You’ll support and guide volunteers across multiple committees, helping them deliver activity for their members confidently and effectively. This includes advising on governance, finance, volunteer recruitment, events and wider activity planning. You will also build strong relationships, coordinate events, and work collaboratively with teams across the organisation to ensure Member Networks are supported effectively and can achieve their objectives.

A day in the life may include:

• Advising and guiding volunteers on governance, finance, awards, planning and compliance matters
• Supporting Networks to deliver their activity plans by monitoring progress, managing timelines and helping ensure activities remain within agreed budgets and objectives
• Coordinating events and projects that drive member engagement, including budget creation, venue liaison and travel bookings
• Managing shared inboxes and responding to enquiries with clear advice and signposting
• Attending meetings, recording actions and following up to ensure progress
• Sharing best practice and encouraging collaboration to support continuous improvement
• Maintaining accurate records on our CRM and documents in Google Workspace, including budgets, reports and committee lists.
• Delivering volunteer training on new processes, systems or ways of working.
• Coordinating awards and grants, updating web content and communicating with applicants
• Managing committee recruitment, posting roles and handling applications
• Working with internal teams such as Membership and Marketing to provide seamless support.

Who we are

IPSEA (Independent Provider of Special Education Advice) is a national charity working to ensure that children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) receive the educational support they are legally entitled to. Since we were formed in 1983, we have helped to improve the education experience of thousands of children and young people across England. We do this by providing free and independent legal advice and casework support for families, undertaking policy work and delivering training on the SEND legal framework.

What you’ll do

Location: Home-based or Hybrid (with frequent travel for events and meeting with parliamentarians and other stakeholders) 

We are seeking a Policy Manager to lead IPSEA's policy and influencing work to achieve positive change for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and their families. Working closely with the Chief Executive, Head of Legal and Training, trustees and colleagues across the organisation, you will set strategic policy priorities and develop evidence-based influencing plans that support IPSEA's mission and long-term objectives.

Drawing on insights from our advice and tribunal services, legal expertise and the experiences of families, you will identify systemic issues within the SEND system and develop policy solutions that improve children and young people's access to the support and education to which they are entitled. You will ensure that IPSEA's policy positions are credible, legally robust and informed by the lived experiences of those we support.

You will lead IPSEA's engagement with government, Parliament and other key decision-makers, identifying opportunities to influence legislation, policy and practice at both national and local level. This includes overseeing responses to consultations, parliamentary inquiries and calls for evidence, as well as preparing briefings and strategic advice to support senior-level engagement and advocacy.

Working collaboratively with colleagues across legal, communications, fundraising and training teams, you will ensure IPSEA's policy, campaigning and public affairs activities are aligned and maximise the organisation's impact. You will also monitor developments across the political, legal and policy landscape, helping IPSEA respond proactively to emerging opportunities and challenges affecting the rights of children and young people with SEND.

Who are we looking for?

You will have significant experience in a senior policy and campaigning/public affairs role and have good knowledge of local and national government structure including the legislative process.

You the ability to build and maintain relationships with a range of stakeholders including MPs, civil servants, campaigners and parents. You exhibit tact and diplomacy and can be impactful with people of varying levels and experience.

Your research and critical thinking skills enable you to analyse policy and data to produce relevant reports and position papers. You have experience of drafting organisation responses to government consultations and parliamentary calls for evidence.

IPSEA should also reflect the communities we support. We are excited to be recruiting into our Wellbeing Coaches team for a young person’s Mental Health Coach. Our Mental Health coaches work 1:1 with young people to build resilience and develop coping strategies for improving mental health and wellbeing, offering a trauma-informed combination of practical and emotional support.

We believe each young person is unique, and benefits from a tailored approach to support - so you might spend a session exploring emotion language with one young person and then accompany another one to a GP appointment. You’ll also have opportunities to share your expertise with our colleagues by delivering training and coaching sessions for those working in our housing and support services. 

This is a permanent role. We are seeking either qualified* mental health workers and/or applicants with significant and relevant experience of supporting people with mental health needs. At 1625 our work is rooted in Psychologically Informed Environments (PIE) and Trauma-Informed Practice (TIP). Our Psychologically Informed Framework shapes how we build relationships, use our spaces, and support young people. This means we prioritise safety, trust, collaboration, and understanding the impact of trauma in every interaction. You don’t need prior experience in PIE or TIP to apply - we’ll support you to learn and develop these approaches in the role. 
What you will be doing:

• Co-creating tailored 1:1 support for a caseload of young people experiencing mental health challenges.
• Upskilling colleagues to respond effectively to young people’s mental health needs.
• Collecting data on needs, to inform service design and future funding opportunities.
• Designing group and drop-in sessions for our high support accommodation services to raise awareness of positive mental health.

You will be in the Transitions & Resilience Team, and your line manager will be our Transitions & Resilience Service Manager.

Contract details 

• Hours per week: 18.75 (this represents 0.5 FTE)
• Contract type: Fixed-term until 11 June 2027
• Pay: £33,143 - £35,412 (qualified) or £30,024 - £31,537 (unqualified) (pro rata based on 0.5FTE) NOTE: This is the current salary and does not include the NJC pay award that is currently pending. Presently, the Government / National Employers have made a pay offer of a 3.3% pay increase. Once an agreement is reached, the relevant % uplift will be backdated to the employment start date.
• The location: Central Bristol, with daily travel across Bristol and South Gloucestershire
