Job description

Overview

Race Against Dementia is a global charity founded by three-time Formula 1 World Champion Sir Jackie Stewart OBE to find preventions, treatments and cures for dementia – faster. 

We fund and support pioneering early-career scientists around the world, giving them the tools, mentoring and Formula 1-inspired mindset to accelerate breakthroughs. From the UK to the USA, Australia to South Africa, our researchers are rethinking how dementia research is done – applying data science, AI and engineering to neuroscience in bold, collaborative ways. 

Purpose of the role

The Supporter Engagement Officer plays a key role in making sure everyone who supports Race Against Dementia has a positive and rewarding experience. They will manage day-to-day supporter communications, maintain our supporter database, and build strong relationships with donors, fundraisers and volunteers around the world. By helping people feel valued and connected to our mission, they will help inspire long -term support and generate more funding for dementia research.

Duties and Responsibilities

Supporter care and fundraising

  • Act as the first point of contact for supporters and fundraisers, delivering timely, professional and friendly stewardship via phone, email and post .
  • Manage supporter journeys from sign-up to thank you, using tailored communications and automated journeys to maximise engagement and fundraising success.
  • Record and track fundraising activity, ensuring accurate records and effective supporter communications.
  • Prepare and send thank you letters, receipts and other supporter communications.
  • Plan and deliver small-scale supporter engagement events, maximising both experience and fundraising potential.
  • Recruit, coordinate and steward fundraising volunteers across the year. 

CRM and donor management

  • Maintain accurate supporter and donation records within the CRM (Salesforce), acting as the organisational lead for CRM best practice.
  • Develop dashboards and reports to monitor supporter activity, fundraising performance and trends.
  • Maintain CRM integrations, ensuring data flows accurately and reliably between connected systems.
  • Produce regular insights and reporting to inform fundraising strategy and decision making.
  • Manage fundraising platforms (e.g. JustGiving, MuchLoved and GivenGain), ensuring data accuracy and compliance.
  • Work with the Finance Manager to process monthly direct debits and reconcile income.
  • Coordinate legacy and in -memory giving administration, providing sensitive and thoughtful supporter stewardship. 

Operations and administration

  • Manage stocks of fundraising materials and merchandise, ensuring timely reordering.
  • Oversee the fulfilment house relationship to ensure the efficient delivery of supporter packs and merchandise.
  • Manage auction and raffle prize inventories, tracking usage and income.
  • Support the planning and delivery of Race Against Dementia fundraising events, providing logistical and operational support.
  • Maintain team calendars, campaign plans and shared resources to support effective team operations.

Other Duties

Carry out any other duties as required by your manager, Director, CEO and Board of Trustees including:

  • To attend, where appropriate, local, regional and national meetings /events.
  • To maintain a good knowledge of national and local initiatives which are of benefit to Race Against Dementia .
  • To administer your own workload, including meeting targets and deadlines in line with the Race Against Dementia appraisal system.
  • To a ttend relevant CPD training events as required.
  • To undertake responsibility, as part of the team, for all Hea lth and Safety work related matters.
  • To w ork within the guidelines of Race Against Dementia’s policies and procedures.
