Key responsibilities
- Build and manage a strong pipeline of global funding and partnership opportunities
- Develop compelling proposals and innovative partnership models

- Shape and deliver a growth strategy for the sustainability programme
- Represent the organisation at international events and forums
- Create opportunities for global members to engage, collaborate and influence
About you
- Proven experience in partnerships, fundraising or business development
- Track record of securing income from foundations, corporates or multilateral organisations
- Experience working across international and cross-sector environments
- A strategic and proactive mindset, with the ability to spot opportunities and run with them
- Strong communication, influencing and relationship-building skills
- A genuine interest in sustainability and systems change

About the Role
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, you will play a key leadership role within the organisation. You’ll be responsible for developing and delivering income generation strategies, building strong partnerships, and ensuring long-term financial sustainability.
This is a hands on and varied role where you will:
- Lead and grow diverse income streams including grants, corporate partnerships, and community fundraising
- Develop compelling funding proposals and manage a strong pipeline of opportunities
- Build and maintain relationships with funders, donors, and stakeholders
- Oversee flagship fundraising events and support third-party fundraisers
- Line manage charity shop managers and nurture a network of volunteers
- Contribute to strategic planning and organisational development
- Represent the charity externally with confidence and professionalism
About You
We are looking for a proactive, organised and motivated individual who can think strategically while delivering practical results.
You will bring:
- Proven experience in fundraising, business development, or a similar role
- Strong track record in securing funding (grants, trusts, corporate, or individual giving)
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Experience managing events, campaigns, and stakeholder relationships
- Confidence in presenting, networking, and representing an organisation
- Strong organisational and analytical skills
- Experience managing staff or volunteers
- A collaborative, resilient, and adaptable approach
Experience within the charity sector and knowledge of fundraising regulations is desirable.

Are you a highly organised, hands‑on events professional with a passion for delivering exceptional experiences? We’re looking for an Events Lead to join our team and play a key role in delivering high‑quality commercial events that enhance student experience and drive income.
Working alongside fellow Events Leads, you will take ownership of the planning, coordination and delivery of Union‑run and externally booked events. From initial confirmation through to live delivery, you’ll ensure every event is professionally managed, safely delivered and runs seamlessly.
You’ll act as the main point of contact for external clients, working closely with promoters, Business Development, Marketing, AV and Commercial Operations teams to bring events to life. Whether leading large student‑facing events or managing external bookings, you’ll combine strong organisation with real‑time problem solving to ensure outstanding results.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading end‑to‑end operational delivery of commercial events
- Developing event plans, including logistics, staffing and risk assessments
- Coordinating internal teams, suppliers and student staff
- Overseeing live event delivery and troubleshooting in real time
- Ensuring high standards of hospitality and customer experience
- Supporting commercial growth and protecting The Union’s reputation
What we’re looking for:
- Experience in event planning and live delivery
- Strong organisational and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to lead teams and manage multiple priorities
- A proactive, solutions‑focused approach under pressure
