Shannon Trust are delighted to be working with His Majesty’s Prison & Probation Service (HMPPS) to provide peer-led learning programmes at HMP Rochester/HMP Cookham Wood and HMP Elmley. Working closely with the prison and their staff, people in prison, Shannon Trust volunteers and mentors, this post will lead the delivery and development of our prison-based reading and numeracy programme, maximising opportunities for people in prison to learn to read.  

Ideally you will have some experience of prison settings underpinned by the ability to build relationships and personal qualities that include resilience, determination and a problem-solving approach. 

This role is a fixed term role until 31st March 2027 with the opportunity to be made permanent subject to contract renewal.

The role will be prison-based. The Role of Director of Property

Effective management of clergy housing and glebe assets is critical to supporting mission and ministry across the Diocese which covers Coventry, Warwickshire and part of Solihull.

As Head of Partnerships & Income Development you will own the development and delivery of the SMF’s income generation strategy so that we can raise the funds and build the partnerships we need to meet our ambitions.

Pathways is a specialised welfare advice service that provides information, advice, advocacy and representation for Disabled adults (over the age of 18) living in the Richmond Borough. In this role, you would be providing information, guidance and advice to Disabled people and their families, enabling them to have more choice and control over their lives.

We are also part of a larger network of Disabled-led advice services. Working together, we have developed pathways for Disabled trainee case workers, collated data on Housing and Benefits issues and have fed into important consultations and campaigns.

In order to support the increasing level of demand for this work, over the next five years, the fundraising team will embark on an ambitious growth strategy as they look to grow income from £9 million this year to £20 million by 2029, increasing the breadth, depth and number of communities that the charity serves. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading the development and delivery of the fundraising strategy to ensure that children and young people have the best start in life. They will be responsible for a broad range of income streams with a particular focus on growth across high net worth individuals, individual giving, corporate and digital, whilst continuing to effectively maintain and build upon strong funder base in trusts, foundations, philanthropy and statutory support. They will also directly oversee the wider fundraising team, which currently includes the fundraising manager and fundraising officer roles.

About You

You will be educated to degree level or equivalent, demonstrated through relevant professional experience or an accredited qualification.

You will have experience of:

• Fundraising, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Meeting and exceeding fundraising targets in a senior fundraising role.
• Leading the development and implementation of a successful fundraising strategy, generating significant organisational income.
• Working across different forms of fundraising including trusts & foundations, high net worth individuals, individual giving, corporate and statutory/public sector.
• Leading, managing and inspiring high performing fundraising teams. research, strategic planning, budgeting and monitoring.
• Fostering successful relationships and partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders.
• Bringing together influential funders and policy makers to increase awareness and support of key issues.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to facilitate senior stakeholder meetings, speak engagingly to a wide range of audiences and to represent RtS externally.
• Understanding of the issues facing the children, young people and communities that we serve.
• Working with Senior Executive teams and trustee boards.

Job Purpose:

To process sales and purchase ledger transactions, ensure that the organisations financial transactions are properly recorded and that there is strong financial control. 

Job Description:

Assistant Accountant Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Process financial transactions, including:

• Raise Venue Hire sales invoices

• Post purchase invoices into SAGE

• Analyse, follow up and post credit card payments

• Maintain journal log book

• Raise and process intercompany invoices Help maintain good financial controls, including:

• Bank reconciliations

• Credit control

• Manage petty cash facilities & check operation of imprest system

• Assist in the production of quarterly VAT returns for review by line manager in accordance with company procedures

Assist with the financial reporting of the organisation, including:

• Assist in the month end process:

o Process monthly journals

o Calculate and process accruals and prepayments

• Provide financial information to budget holders

• Produce ad hoc and regular financial reports, as required

• Assist with the production of the annual statutory accounts

Assist with administration and the general functioning of the Finance Department:

• Attend staff and team meetings

• Manage systems administration by keeping the information on the company’s systems, including SAGE and supporting the Financial Controller as required

• Deal with queries from team and stakeholders

Support the annual audit process, including:

• Compilation of necessary information

• Production of supporting working papers

Provide cover for the Finance Officer role and reasonable cover for the Financial Controller

Perform any other tasks as reasonably required

Key Knowledge and Skills:

Strong accounting capability to be able to create accounting journals, accruals and prepayments.

Hands on accounts experience and proficiency with accounting systems (preferably Sage 200)

Very good Excel spreadsheet skills.

At least part qualification with CIMA/ACCA

Good analytical skills to understand financial reports

Good communication skills.

Personal Qualities:

Able to work in a busy office environment which demands high levels of concentration while inputting, checking and making calculations whilst also responding to staff/ customer enquiries.

Be diligent and take ownership of activity outcome.

This four-year role, funded by The National Lottery Community Fund, sits at the heart of the Small and Mighty (SaM) infrastructure support programme, delivered by a partnership of Community First Oxfordshire, OCVA, Oxford Community Action, Charity Mentors and Volunteer Link-Up, working directly with grassroots voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise groups.
