About The Role

As a key part of our new organisational strategy there is a new structure in the Fundraising Directorate, designed to support significant income growth. An important part of the new leadership team would be   an exceptional Head of Acquisition and Development to take on one of the most wide-reaching and influential leadership roles at Royal British Legion. This is a big, complex role with real visibility, offering the chance to shape how we attract, engage and build long-term relationships with supporters at a time of significant change.

This role sits at the heart of how we grow and sustain our supporter base. You’ll be accountable for the strategic direction of supporter acquisition and development, owning the full journey from first engagement through to long-term value. With significant scope and autonomy, you’ll set clear direction, make confident decisions and ensure our approach is coherent, ambitious and built for scale.

Change and transformation are central to this role. You’ll lead the embedding of new processes, ways of working and decision-making frameworks across teams, bringing structure, pace and clarity in a complex environment. Working at senior level, you’ll influence across the organisation, lead our approach to creative, manage competing priorities and ensure delivery remains strong while our fundraising approach evolves.

We’re looking for a senior fundraising or marketing leader who can strategically think and engage with the challenges we face, to create the right solutions and sell them in across the organisation. Successful candidates will have  deep, hands-on experience of leading large-scale acquisition and development in a complex organisation. You’ll be comfortable operating at leadership level, accountable for performance, and confident leading teams through change. You will be contracted to our Haig House London hub with a minimum expectation of two days per week working in person at the hub and flexibility for working remotely/at home when not on site.

Neighbourhood Housing Project Lead (Sheffield and Scunthorpe)

Fixed term (18-months), full-time post, 40 hours per week (1 FTE), inclusive of breaks 

Salary: £42,752 (National)

Regular travel to Sheffield and Scunthorpe will be required. Occasional travel to London will be required.

 

Building Tomorrow – Neighbourhood Housing Project Lead

Oasis exists to build stronger communities where there is no one left out. Building Tomorrow is an innovative new neighbourhood housing programme that Oasis is developing in Sheffield and Scunthorpe.

We are pioneering a new community-led solution to housing challenges in two communities where Oasis already works, running five schools and two community Hubs. We are working to develop quality housing that offers opportunity for families to find a stable and supportive place of belonging in community.

The programme will combine quality housing, excellent education (provided through Oasis academies), and community wrap-around support (delivered through our existing youth and community teams). This programme is designed to offer a preventative approach to housing challenges, acting as a proof of concept that can be replicated in other communities around the country. 

This role will act as the central point of coordination which will ensure Building Tomorrow moves successfully from initiation to full activation over the initial 18-month period. In the activation period, we will purchase and refurbish the 20 properties, and this role will work in close coordination with our property consultants. As properties are purchased, we will begin to move into the delivery phase, where we start to house families.

This role requires a person who:

· Is a fantastic communicator – someone who can talk to a contractor, a community leader, and a new resident with  equal ease and effectiveness.

What will you do?

The key areas of responsibility for the role are as follows:

· To act as the main link between all stakeholders: the Oasis teams including academies; contractors; and any community partners. To make sure everyone is communicating effectively and working toward the same goal.

· To work in close collaboration with Oasis Community Leaders in Sheffield and Scunthorpe. To support the Community Leaders and wider community teams to welcome families by acting as a key part of the community support offer through the 18-month activation phase.

· To own the 18-month master plan. This will involve tracking progress, analysing potential delays, and proactively solving problems so the activation stays on time and on budget.

· To focus on transitioning the housing element from a period of acquisition and refurbishment into functioning homes. This includes everything from smooth resident move-ins to ensuring the community support is fully accessible.

· To work alongside colleagues in the Operations Group to design operational processes including the community support offer, housing management systems, and tenancy arrangements. 

· To help the team set clear, achievable goals for the activation period and then track whether those goals are being met, providing regular, honest updates to all stakeholders.

· To support the Group CEO in liaising with our social investor.

About the Role

STOP THE TRAFFIK prevents vulnerable communities from being recruited, trafficked, and exploited. Our targeted prevention efforts disrupt the criminal business of human trafficking, making it too high-risk and low-profit to be viable.

As a core member of the Executive Team, the Director of Development will lead on organisational income generation and operational development. Working closely with the CEO, Presidents, this role will oversee all fundraising, partnerships, communications, and internal operations, ensuring STT is financially strong, strategically aligned, and operationally effective.

Leadership & Team Management

As a key member of the Fundraising Leadership Team, you will play an influential role in shaping decision-making, strengthening collaboration and embedding a high-performance culture across the directorate. You will lead the evolution of how we understand, forecast and communicate the value of legacies, ensuring our approach is modern, insight-led and fully aligned with the ambitions of our redesigned Fundraising Directorate.

We’re looking for a senior fundraising leader who can strategically think and engage with the challenges we face, to create the right solutions and sell them in across the organisation. Successful candidates will be confident, inspiring and forward-thinking , whether you’re already operating at this level or ready to step up from a smaller organisation into a broader, more complex remit. You’ll bring strategic thinking, sound judgement and the ability to navigate complexity, alongside a collaborative leadership style and a strong sense of purpose. This role will involve communicating directly to trustees, and so the ability to build good relationships with, and bring excellent communication skills to a senior audience, is essential. Borders Forest Trust (BFT) is a charity established to restore native woodland habitats to Southern Scotland, an area with the lowest percentage of native woodlands in mainland Scotland. Since 1996, they have been working towards planting trees, restoring peatlands and other natural habitats, enriching the biological diversity of around 31 sq km in the Southern Uplands. They demonstrate large scale ecological restoration in action, and inspire landowners, statutory bodies, local communities and policy makers to embrace this alternative model for land use and conservation.

Fundraising to date at BFT has seen success, but it has been responsive and ad-hoc as opposed to planned according to strategic need. To achieve their mission, and provide sustainable long-term income, in May 2025 they invested in their first dedicated Development Manager. The post holder has recently secured the Chief Executive post at BFT and as such, we are looking to back fill the role of Development Manager.

The Development Manager will join BFT at an exciting stage, they are about to embark on a new period of strategic development, and from the work undertaken by the previous post holder since May 2025, the organisation understands the importance of fundraising to their future.

They are looking for a fundraiser who will thrive on the challenge of designing and implementing their own fundraising strategy aligned with the organisations new strategic plan, and who can provide the expertise needed to build income across all areas. Trusts, membership, corporate partnerships and philanthropy are untapped areas of potential, so experience across at least one of the key areas will be essential for the successful candidate to evidence.

Key priorities will include:

Project management: leading a project team to produce high-quality, competitive, and financially viable bids.

Bid writing: contributing to the writing of technical responses, implementation plans, and service models.
