About The Skill Mill
The Skill Mill is a multi-award-winning social enterprise providing employment opportunities for young people aged 16–18 involved in the criminal justice system. We deliver environmental and community improvement projects that build skills, improve life chances, and reduce reoffending.
Young people aged 16-18 will be employed by The Skill Mill for 6-months, working in small cohorts of four, under the direct supervision of a dedicated Supervisor. During this period, the programme integrates practical skills training, offering short courses and on-the-job instruction in areas like environmental management, construction, and recycling, using tools such as trimmers and lawnmowers. The goal is for participants to achieve recognized qualifications like the CSCS card and an AQA Level 2 qualification, all while receiving comprehensive support, in collaboration with youth offending services.
Following the six-month employment phase, young people receive three months of dedicated support designed to facilitate their transition into new employment, training, or educational opportunities. This support includes individualised assistance with career development and job progression, practical aid such as creating action plans, crafting CVs, and practicing interview skills. After the 6-month employment phase, key support will transition from the Supervisor to the Pathway Advisor role, with 3-months of person-led support offered to prepare for, enter, and sustain further employment, training, or educational opportunities. Role Overview:
This role is responsible for co-ordinating and developing Enable’s Mental Health programmes, including but not limited to Active Wellbeing; both group and personalised one-to-one exercise support for people with a diagnosis of severe mental illness.
The Health and Wellbeing Team are a passionate group of health professionals who empower people to make lasting changes to their health and wellbeing and improve their quality of life. We put the person at the centre of everything we do, building innovative initiatives that tackle barriers to improving health. We are experts at reducing health inequalities, real or perceived, and creating lasting changes.
Main Duties/Responsibilities:
- Responsible for coordinating aspects of Enable’s Mental Health programme
s. This includes planning, delivery, identifying areas for development, promotion, and reporting. - Deliver one to one client and community assessments with adults with SMI.
- Actively participate in staff meetings to share best practice and develop thinking, knowledge and learning.
- Identify and build partnerships and relationships with key stakeholders to support the delivery and growth of the programmes.
- Working with Enable Marketing and Communications department to develop and deliver the marketing and communication plan. This will include press releases, social media activity, creating promotional literature.
- Attend and coordinate community events to network, present and promote Mental Health and other local wellbeing opportunities.
- Monitor and document income and expenditure, working within the programme budget. Complete financial administration tasks such as creating purchase orders and invoices, according to Enable policy and procedure.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of your work. Provide written reports, summaries and presentations as required. Collect feedback and case studies to evaluate the impact of the programmes.
- Assists in managing resources provided to support the departments work including staff, volunteers, materials, and equipment ensuring these are used and maintained effectively.

We’re seeking a Fundraising Officer to support the growth of all our programmes, services, and campaigns. Primarily working on a new area of trusts and foundations fundraising, including researching prospects. - Scalable supporter and beneficiary engagement journeys reaching tens of thousands annually
- Clear recommendations for future team structure, roles, and investment
- Strengthened income pipelines and improved forecasting accuracy
- Enhanced brand visibility and digital engagement within the automotive community
- Smooth transition to a permanent Director with strong foundations, documentation, and operational frameworks in place
Person Specification
Experience
- Significant senior leadership experience in Fundraising and MarComms within the charity sector
- Proven track record delivering fundraising strategies and measurable income and engagement outcomes
- Demonstrable success across individual giving, corporate partnerships, and digital fundraising
- Strong experience in brand, marketing, and digital engagement
- Experience leading teams through organisational change or transition
- Experience building and leading high-performing, multidisciplinary teams
- Ideally, experience engaging large communities, workforce-based audiences, or membership groups.
Knowledge & Understanding
- Strong understanding of supporter engagement, audience insight, and behaviour change
- Knowledge of multi-channel fundraising and modern marketing approaches
- Understanding of charity sector strategy, governance, and income models (desirable)
- Appreciation of the health and wellbeing challenges affecting working people and communities.
