Overview:

West Sussex Mind and Mind in Brighton & Hove are embarking on an exciting programme of growth and expansion into Surrey.

Hosted by West Sussex Mind on behalf of the Mind in Surrey Partnership, the Head of Development and Partnerships, Surrey will lead the establishment, development and growth of the partnership's work across Surrey, identifying and creating opportunities to improve mental health support, tackle stigma and increase access to services for local communities.

The role will involve:

• Developing relationships with Surrey and Sussex ICB, local authorities, VCSE organisations and other key stakeholders.

• Identifying and securing opportunities through grants, commissioning, tenders and partnership development.

• Involving people with lived experience in the development and design of proposals to ensure they meet the needs of local people with mental health challenges.

• Growing our mental health training offer across Surrey, including both paid-for training and community-based awareness initiatives.

• Establishing and supporting a Surrey Steering Group and maintaining excellent partnership working with Mind in Brighton & Hove.

• Leading the development and launch of the programme's profile, relationships and future opportunities.

• Reports on progress and impact to the Steering Group.

We are looking for someone who is motivated, self-sufficient and able to work independently while building strong and lasting relationships across a wide range of organisations and communities.

The successful candidate will have:

• Experience of developing partnerships across health, social care, public sector or voluntary organisations.

• OurCommunity Links Service provides outreach information, specialist brain injury recoveryadvice for people with an acquired brain injury and their families and supports them as they come toterms with the changed circumstances brought about by brain injury. The service includes benefits advice and collaborative working with other organisations such as Adult Social Services, Housing Providers and other VCSE organisations
   
• Our Enablement Service is centre based and open every weekday offering activities that focus on the five elements of rehabilitation: emotional functioning; cognitive functioning; learning; social interaction and behaviour. This takes the form of a structured timetable so that those with an acquired brain injury can select the activities thathelp them work towards their goals.We work one to one and also employ a group format to harness theunique recovery benefits of peer contact and support. 
   
• OurCarer Support Groups provide a relaxed environment withinthe community where people with an acquired brain injury and their families can meet new people, share experiences and support each other.We provide training events, social events and facilitate familysupport groups. 
   
• Our Peer Support Groups provide an opportunity once a month in different locations for people with an acquired brain injury to discuss topics of interest and to share challenges, tips and provide positive support.
   
• Our Community Hubs are delivered in locations around the county in community venues and are tailored to the needs of the group for up to 3 hours. They include physical exercise sessions, focussed discussion groups, advice and support related to acquired brain injury and the opportunity to develop a local support network

CEO Role

You will lead and motivate a small team of staff and volunteers and work with them to provide a person centred, enabling and outcome focused support service to people over 18 with an acquired brain injury.  You will seek opportunities for planned development and growth and build on the success of our existing services to increase our offer.

You will act as principal spokesperson and advocate for the charity, demonstrating integrity and commitment to key stakeholders, partners and donors to ensure the best outcomes for people affected by brain injury in the Gloucestershire area.

You will be joining at an exciting time as we work together with health and social care partners to monitor and understand the needs of people with brain injury in Gloucestershire and influence the pathway for rehabilitation and longer-term support.

You will be able to demonstrate significant experience leading public campaigns, advocacy programmes, external affairs or influencing work, with a solid understanding of the political environment surrounding land use. You’ll have experience working with stakeholders, decision-makers and influencers at senior levels, developing strong relationships, with a track record of building partnerships and coalitions that achieve meaningful outcomes. You will bring significant experience of leading campaigns, policy communications, external affairs or influencing work, alongside a strong understanding of the planning and infrastructure landscape. You do not need to be a qualified planner, but you will have the credibility to engage confidently with policymakers, sector experts, partners and MPs, and the ability to turn that understanding into effective campaign strategies. You'll be an exceptional relationship builder, with experience bringing together coalitions, networks and stakeholders around shared goals. Most importantly, you'll understand how to connect policy issues to public concerns, creating campaigns that inspire people to get involved while delivering tangible policy impact.

We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates with experience across planning, housing, infrastructure, transport, development, public affairs, environmental advocacy or related campaigning fields, who are passionate about building the partnerships and public support needed to create lasting change.

You’ll take ownership of the full tenancy journey, from allocation and sign-up through to tenancy sustainment and move-on.  But this role is about much more than managing agreements and processes.

You’ll be an experienced housing professional who understands that good housing management starts with the person.

You’ll bring strong tenancy management experience and a sound understanding of housing law, regulation and compliance.  You’ll be confident managing the practical realities of a housing portfolio, including tenancy agreements, rent accounts, arrears, voids, repairs, inspections, tenancy breaches and disputes.

Alongside that technical knowledge, you’ll know how to build trust.

Your Day to Day

You’ll:

• Take ownership of a defined portfolio of supported living properties and manage the full tenancy lifecycle
• Conduct regular visits with tenants to review their tenancy, identify emerging issues and support tenancy sustainment
• Carry out property inspections during scheduled visits, identifying repairs, property condition and health and safety concerns
• Ensure tenancy agreements, records and documentation remain accurate, up to date and fit for purpose
• Deliver accessible tenancy sign-ups using approaches appropriate to individual communication needs, including easy-read information and visual aids
• Help tenants understand their rights, responsibilities and security of tenure
• Monitor rent accounts and manage arrears proactively
• Support tenants with Housing Benefit applications and other relevant benefits, including liaison or signposting to specialist agencies where appropriate
• Manage tenancy breaches, anti-social behaviour and disputes proportionately and with a trauma-informed approach
• Oversee allocations, voids and move-on arrangements
• Work with Property Services to make sure repairs and maintenance are addressed promptly
• Help ensure homes are safe, compliant, well maintained and appropriate for neurodiverse needs, including sensory considerations
• Build strong relationships with tenants, families and advocates
• Facilitate tenant engagement and ensure the tenant voice influences how services develop
