Asylum Welcome is an extraordinary local charity, offering a range of support to asylum seekers, refugees and vulnerable migrants seeking refuge in and around Oxford. We provide everything from advice, visits, legal support, education, assistance finding employment and even helping secure free bus passes.

We currently have a strong and capable Board with a wide-ranging skill set and we are seeking a Chairperson who can provide strong leadership and a collaborative approach.

As Chair you will play a key role in enabling us to continue supporting refugees and asylum seekers, primarily in the Oxfordshire area, empowering them to rebuild their lives here in safety.  This role offers a valuable opportunity to use your professional skills and experience to make a meaningful difference to individuals who have been forced to flee their homes and livelihoods.

We welcome expressions of interest from people of all ages and backgrounds, and a job share arrangement would be considered. The role is currently shared by two Trustees as Co-Chairs who are retiring as Trustees after many years of service.

The Chair position is not paid but travel expenses may be claimed for attending meetings.

The Board meets (via Teams and in-person) 6 - 8 times a year, currently early evening on a Thursday. Dates are agreed a year in advance.

What can I expect to be doing? 

As a flexible role, you have the choice to be involved in the following: 

• Face-to-face fundraising – organising or helping with our fundraising events, attending supermarket collections or local markets. 

• Distributing collection tins – popping collection tins into local shops and pubs and collecting them when they’re full. 

• Bringing new ideas! - We always love to come up with new ideas to raise funds for cats and we’d love to help bring yours to life.

How much time is expected of me? 

Our Fundraising Volunteer roles are very flexible, often certain times of the year are busier than others. You can choose your level of involvement to suit your schedule!

Support, guidance and keeping you safe

At Tell My Truth and Shame the Devil C.I.C., social media is not a marketing channel. It is often the first place someone tells the truth. The first place a survivor speaks. The first place a young person asks for help, direction, or hope. The Social Media Engagement Officer is the human presence behind our platforms — responding, guiding, holding boundaries, and directing people safely into the right parts of our ecosystem. This is not a growth-hacking role. This is a trust, discernment, and care role.

The Social Media Engagement Officer ensures that every interaction on our digital platforms is:

You are the bridge between content and community — between attention and action.

Experience Qualification and Requirements

Essential experience

• Experience in community engagement, online community management, moderation, or customer support where tone, safety, and trust matter.
• Experience communicating in sensitive contexts (e.g., advocacy, youth work, frontline/community roles, safeguarding-adjacent environments).
• Experience handling challenging messages, conflict, harassment, or emotionally charged content with professionalism and calm judgement.

Essential skills & qualities

• Strong written communication skills, including the ability to respond clearly, respectfully, and consistently in public and private channels.
• Emotional regulation and resilience when exposed to distressing content, survivor stories, or hostile interactions.
• Reliability, discretion, and strong boundaries, including comfort following protocols and escalating without delay.
• Ability to apply trauma-informed language and maintain C.I.C tone-of-voice without offering counselling or personal advice.
• Ability to triage and route people appropriately (donations, volunteering, VFAP, podcast submissions, resources) using approved pathways.
• Attention to detail for logging patterns, risks, and recurring needs, and sharing structured feedback with the team.

Desirable 

• Experience engaging across multiple platforms (TikTok, Instagram, X, YouTube, LinkedIn) and adapting tone to platform norms.
• Familiarity with safeguarding principles, escalation workflows, and online safety practices.

Training & support provided

• Safeguarding protocols and escalation pathways.
• Platform-specific engagement standards and tone-of-voice guidance.
• Escalation and reporting systems, including how to log risks and recurring themes.

Main Responsibilities/ Key Duties

• Monitor comments, replies, and DMs across C.I.C platforms to maintain a safe, respectful, and survivor-centred community environment.
• Respond consistently in alignment with C.I.C values and tone, using trauma-informed language and maintaining clear safeguarding boundaries at all times.
• Direct individuals to the correct pathways and resources, including donation routes, volunteer onboarding, VFAP (Violence-Free Action Pathway), podcast submissions, and approved support information.
• Identify and flag safeguarding concerns immediately to the appropriate role, ensuring that potential risk is not held in engagement channels.
• Escalate high-risk messages using agreed protocols, prioritising urgent or concerning disclosures, threats, harassment, or boundary breaches.
• Help maintain comment spaces that are respectful and free from harassment, minimisation, victim-blaming, grooming behaviour, or abusive language, taking action in line with moderation guidance.
• Support healthy engagement by encouraging constructive dialogue, de-escalating where appropriate, and reinforcing community standards without argument or defensiveness.
• Log patterns, risks, and recurring community needs (e.g., common questions, frequent triggers, misinformation themes, safeguarding hotspots) and feed insights back to the team.
• Work closely with Community Moderation & Safety, Safeguarding, and Campaign/Content teams to ensure joined-up responses and consistent public-facing messaging.
• Maintain confidentiality, discretion, and professional boundaries; you do not counsel, diagnose, or provide emotional support — you route safely and responsibly.

This role is not suitable if you:

• Want to debate or argue online
• Struggle with emotional boundaries
• Seek influencer-style engagement
• Want creative control over content
• Are unable to follow safeguarding procedures strictly

This is not about visibility — it is about responsibility.

Following the success of the 2025 Council Climate Action Scorecards last year, Climate Emergency UK is looking to create the third edition of the Action Scorecards. Analysing council climate action only becomes valuable if you track the progress that has been made. We need your help to create the 2027 Action Scorecards and score councils on their actual climate action.

Why are we doing this?

We’re in a climate crisis, and local councils have the power and influence over around 30% of emissions in their local area. Councils are uniquely placed to make a real impact on emissions within their area. We know that councils are listening to the Scorecards results and taking more effective action. The average score in the 2025 Action Scorecards increased by 7 percent points. The Scorecards are a campaigning tool that residents can use to hold their council to account on their climate action, and lobby for specific, targeted change. We have also found that over 34% of UK councils are using the Scorecards to improve (using the Scorecards in council meetings or on their website and in climate action plans). Finally, this UK wide assessment will demonstrate where the UK and devolved governments need to provide more support to local authorities in order for them to take even further action.

How can you help?

We need at least 200 volunteers to pull this project off! You can help by volunteering to score councils on each of the 7 sections of our Action Scorecards. This year volunteers will be marking specific sections for councils (e.g. marking only all the Transport questions for the councils you are marking). You will score councils in your particular section by researching publicly available information on councils’ websites and relevant strategies. Training and guides will be made available to you to help in the process.

Scoring one council on one section will take approx. 2 hrs (though the more you do, the quicker you will become). It’s best if you are able to work from a laptop or a computer with good internet, as you will need to be able to access council websites and our online scoring system.

We’d like you to mark at least 10 councils on one of the seven sections over a period of 4 weeks. This equates to a total of 20 hours of volunteering over 4 weeks, roughly 5 hours a week, but this can be done at your own pace.

What experience do I need?

We will provide training so you don’t need any experience. If you have previous experience of working in or campaigning at a local council level that is a bonus, but not necessary.

What will I gain?

This is a great opportunity to understand how local councils work, as well as understanding local government policy on Climate Action. This is a good chance to improve your research and analytical skills too. By helping with this project you will be making a real contribution to the fight against the climate crisis.

What we need from you:

You will need to attend a total of 2 sessions:

• Scorecards Volunteer Inductions:
  You will need to attend one induction session on either Tuesday 7th April 2026 or Thursday 9th April 2026 from 5:30 to 6:30pm.
• Scorecards Scoring Training:
  You will only need to attend only one of the training sessions but please keep both of the evenings free until you are allocated a Scorecards policy section, which will determine which session you need to attend: either Tuesday 14th April 2026 or Thursday 16th April 2026 from 5:30 to 7pm.
• The overall time commitment is 20 hours of volunteering over a 4-week period spanning from 7th April until 12th May 2026.

Note: We will not accept current Councillors or Officers (Parish/Town councillors or staff are free to apply).

How it works

• You will receive training on how the scoring system works.
• You will be assigned 10 or more councils to score depending on your availability.
• You will be supported through online communication with CEUK staff and other volunteers across the country. At any point you will be able to ask questions using Slack.
• You will score those councils via our online scoring system. What you mark will be audited to ensure the system is fair and accurate.

We’re inviting community-minded individuals to join our Fundraising Working Group. This is a hands-on, action-focused volunteer team (not a trustee role!) that supports the financial stability of Mary’s by helping to shape and deliver fundraising initiatives throughout the year. 

You’ll be working alongside our Business Operations Manager, with support from the CEO, trustees, and the wider fundraising volunteer group, to bring energy and fresh ideas to everything from annual events and community campaigns to grant applications and local partnerships. 

What You’ll Be Doing 

• Supporting the planning and delivery of fundraising events and campaigns 

• Contributing to grant research and application processes 

• Generating creative fundraising ideas with the team 

• Helping build community partnerships and local business links 

• Attending bi-monthly evening meetings and following up on agreed action

How much time is expected of me? 

Our Fundraising Volunteer roles are very flexible, often certain times of the year are busier than others. You can choose your level of involvement to suit your schedule!

Support, guidance and keeping you safe 

At Cats Protection we believe our volunteers should be happy and confident in their roles. We provide support and guidance from our National Cat Centre and through our regional and local volunteer groups and teams. We offer engaging online and face-to-face training, expenses and have policies and processes to help volunteers get the most out of their time with us.

CONTEXT

The Women & Families Resource Centre (WFRC) is a registered charity based in

Wolverhampton which supports, empowers and advocates for women and children.

We aim to actively encourage women to be self-reliant, through empowering them to

identify their own needs, make their own choices and create their own solutions. We

offer a baby bank, a charity shop & various community support services to help

women facing crises or challenging situations.

Wolverhampton Baby Bank is a flagship project run by The Women & Families

Resource Centre, a registered charity supporting families with children aged 0-3.

Through donated essentials and community engagement, we provide much-needed

items such as:

• Essential supplies for babies and toddlers, including nappies, wipes, clothing, toys,

and bedding.

• Support services for new parents, including drop-in groups and befriending for

pregnant women and new mothers.

• Referrals and resources to connect families with additional community services.

Scope and Span

The Baby Bank Manager leads the operational delivery and structured rebuild of WFRC’s flagship Baby Bank service. This role is critical as WFRC stabilises and restructures following recent operational disruptions. The postholder will oversee volunteer coordination, stock and inventory systems, client service delivery, corporate volunteer engagement, and compliance reporting.

This position requires a strong balance of operational leadership, administrative oversight, and compassionate service delivery, ensuring that the Baby Bank operates efficiently, sustainably, and in alignment with funding and safeguarding requirements.

WFRC operates as a not-for-profit organisation but must function with business-level accountability and sustainability. The Baby Bank Manager plays a key role in embedding structured systems that ensure continuity beyond individuals.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Operational Leadership: Oversee daily Baby Bank operations, manage referrals and appointments, ensure safe and dignified support for families, and gradually scale services in line with capacity.
• Volunteer & Corporate Coordination: Recruit, induct, supervise, and retain volunteers (including structured reviews and scheduling), prevent burnout, and coordinate corporate volunteer days effectively.
• Stock & Service Delivery Management: Manage inventory intake, sorting, storage, safety standards, stock monitoring, and ensure smooth distribution of baby items.
• Administration, Systems & Reporting: Maintain accurate digital records, update databases, support workflow systems, ensure data protection compliance, and track service data for funding and impact reporting.
• Leadership, Compliance & Governance: Attend meetings, communicate with leadership, escalate issues, uphold safeguarding and policy standards, and support overall organisational administration.

Qualifications

• Must be a female candidate living in Wolverhampton (due to the sensitive nature of the role and need for local community knowledge).
• Experience in service coordination, community services, or charity operations preferred
• Experience managing volunteers or small teams but not required
• Strong administrative and record-keeping background
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital systems
• Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality principles

Pay Rate: £12.00 - £14.00 per hou

We are currently seeking a volunteer Personal Assistant/Office Manager. This role is ideal for an individual with experience as a P.A./Manager looking to work within the charity sector. 

Responsibilities typically include: 

• Acting as a first point of contact for enquiries: (email/calendar management and phone calls, managing diaries 

• Typing, compiling, and preparing reports, presentations, and correspondence. 

• Miscellaneous tasks to support the CEO which will vary according to projects and tasks but could include fundraising, event planning, social media, community outreach, press & PR. 

• Managing databases and filing systems. 

• Implementing and maintaining procedures/policies & administrative systems 

• Forming a relationship with our clients as they are part of the community. 

Essential skills for this role are: 

• Organisation skills: The ability to prioritise tasks, manage time, and keep track of deadlines is crucial.  

• Communication skills: should be able to communicate effectively in writing. 

• Attention to detail: the ability to pick up on small details can prevent costly mistakes from occurring. 

• Problem-solving skills: the ability to identify and resolve problems quickly and efficiently.
