This is an opportunity to join Refuge as a Deputy Service Manager to support survivors who have been impacted by domestic abuse. We are recruiting for a Deputy Service Manager who is passionate about supporting survivors who are impacted by domestic abuse. In this role you will provide line management and support to community-based staff who support survivors of domestic abuse across Derby City.  This will include providing supervision on complex casework, overseeing operational emergencies and ensuring high standards of casework.

The Deputy service manager will join our management team to assist the service manager in the delivery and development of high-quality support to survivors accessing our community-based services in Derby City. In this role you will ensure the smooth running of high-quality service to support survivors of domestic abuse. This will include managing staff teams to ensure effective advocacy is provided to survivors who are at medium/standard risk and their children. 

A key requirement is to provide personal welfare support and to ensure that survivors are provided with a safe, supportive outreach service

Suitable candidates must have proven experience of providing direct emotional and practical support, and of managing case work. In addition, you must have experience of managing and motivating staff, knowledge of domestic abuse issues, experience of providing support to survivors, and experience of working in community-based services

As a member of the management team, you will be required to participate in an out-of-hours on call service, on a rota basis, responding to out of hours emergencies.

- Collating, uploading and sending out minutes, reports and other papers for Board meetings.

- Keeping records of attendance and apologies and any possible conflicts of interest.

- Maintaining all records in good order and managing the online Board portal.

- Supporting the Company Secretary, Chair &CEO by organising Annual/General Meetings & events.

- Supporting the Company Secretary with the recruitment and induction of new trustees.

- Being a point of contact for trustees and shareholding members.

- Supporting the Company Secretary in undertaking their role and duties.

- Any other duties reasonably requested by the Chair, CEO and Company Secretary.

Quality

- PA/Administrative support for the Director of Quality, for their quality remit & operational portfolio.

- Servicing the Quality & Practice Committee by coordinating the submission of reports & information.

-       Administrative support for the Head of Quality, Head of Social Care Governance and Quality Team.

- Collating quality data, compiling reports, minuting meetings and effective follow up.

- Minuting and providing administrative support for confidential, sensitive HR and safeguarding cases.

- Providing PA support and assistance for the Executive Team when required.

- Communicating and liaising with Head Office Teams and operational managers.

- Contributing to planning and implementation of wider corporate campaigns/programmes of work.

- Providing support for co-production initiatives and Experts by Experience.

Applicants for this role must be passionate about Creative Support’s work, values and ethos. You will have significant prior experience gained in a responsible secretarial or administrative role. Experience of working for a charity or a social care or public service organisation is desirable, but not essential. You will be proactive, professional and able to maintain confidentiality. You will be well-organised, able to prioritise work and to achieve deadlines.

You must have good communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively and  coordinate the work of others. You must be helpful and responsive to requests for assistance from the Chair and trustees. You will be willing to work flexibly in accordance with the needs of the organisation and trustees, including attending evening meetings (1-2 evening meetings a month).

A good standard of literacy is required and you must be competent in the use of IT and online applications including MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint. You will be conscientious and diligent in managing data and information and keeping records on behalf of the Company Secretary. You must be able to take direction and be accountable to the Director of Quality and the Company Secretary.

You must be committed to the principles of co-production as you will be expected to support the voice and active involvement of people we support in governance and quality assurance.

The Role

As an Independent Domestic Violence Advocate you will ensure that male survivors’ safety & housing needs are met.  You will provide specialist support at the moment of crisis, providing advocacy & support to access safe accommodation ensuring the safety, security & dignity of service users & their children.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure that male survivors’ safety and housing needs are met by supporting survivors to access safe accommodation
• Provide a pro-active, high quality, frontline service to victims of domestic abuse through on-going risk assessment, individual safety planning, advocacy, emotional and practical support.
• Work within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership responses to domestic abuse to keep safety central to all services for victims of domestic abuse
• Promote the service and raising awareness of issues arising, minimising barriers and improving access to support

About You

Ideally, you will have knowledge about legal remedies for domestic abuse victims and have experience working with drug, alcohol, and mental health issues. An understanding benefits, housing, and homelessness would also be beneficial.

You will need:

• Experience of providing support those affected by domestic abuse 
• An understanding of the principles of risk assessment, safety planning and risk management for victims of domestic abuse and their children
• Knowledge of safeguarding issues, and the legal responsibilities surrounding these issues.
• A good understanding of Housing Law to be able to provide up to date advice and information on housing related needs
• Strong communication, negotiation and advisory skills, both written and verbal when interacting with a range of agencies and individuals.

About the Role

The Speech and Language Therapist at the Education Hub will provide specialist assessment, intervention and support for children and young people affected by the Grenfell Tragedy. The therapist will conduct comprehensive assessments using evidence-based tools, including formal standardised assessments, observational analysis and dynamic assessment approaches to evaluate speech, language and communication needs.

You will:

• Work on a 1:1 and group basis with children and young people and provide a high level of expertise to develop students’ speech, language and communication skills.
• Give advice, information and support to enable parents/carers and schools to promote the development of speech, language and communication skills.
• Work with families to equip them with the knowledge and skills to create supportive home environments that meet their child’s specific needs.
• Work in close liaison with the Occupational Therapist and the rest of the team to ensure efficient and effective management of children identified with speech, language and communication needs.
• Comprehensively assess children and young people to help identify difficulties in expressive and receptive language, social communication, fluency, and speech sound development, ensuring targeted and effective intervention.
• Produce detailed reports with clear actionable recommendations to inform support plans and guide effective therapeutic and educational strategies, ensuring interventions are tailored to each child’s specific speech, language, and communication needs.
• Develop Speech & Language Therapy training packages, policies, and programmes to parents, carers and professionals.

About You

You will have:

• UK qualified status and registered with the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) with a license to practice.
• Registered member of Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists
• Trained in Hanen, Elklan, Let’s Talk or VERVE Child Interaction (or a willingness to attend training)
• Extensive knowledge of principles in effective working with families and schools and application to practice.
• Experience of operational caseload management for children with a speech and language need.
• Extensive knowledge of appropriate assessment and therapeutic interventions relevant to the client group.

About the Organisation

The Grenfell Education Hub opened last year to serve those most affected by the Grenfell Tower tragedy. The hub provides a safe, restorative and relational education support to children and young people, their families and local schools.

A consultation process in 2023 and 2024 about the needs of the community and the bereaved and survivors led to proposals for an educational ‘hub’.  This comprises a wide range of professionals including four specialist teachers, an Educational Psychologist, a Speech and Language Therapist, an Occupational Therapist, a Careers Specialist, and a Family Support Practitioner. Their time will be divided between direct work with children and families in the ‘Hub’, and support for local schools.

The activity of the hub aims to;

Are you passionate about shaping churches to become more welcoming and accessible to newcomers, strengthening local expressions of sanctuary and helping to embed racial justice principles into ministry and practice?

We’re looking for a Sanctuary & Racial Justice Officer to build inclusive communities by helping parishes across Kent become more welcoming, accessible and culturally aware for refugees, asylum seekers and newcomers.

Reporting to the Strategic Lead for Sanctuary & Racial Justice, you’ll coordinate existing Welcome Hubs in Canterbury and help launch new hubs in Folkestone, Ashford and Dover. Working with churches, volunteers, councils and community partners, you’ll strengthen local sanctuary, deliver racial justice training and develop practical tools that embed justice into everyday ministry.

This is an exciting, hands-on, people-centric role with so much variety — part community development, part volunteer leadership, as well as a mixture of training and partnership working.

We’re looking for someone with experience of supporting vulnerable people and working with volunteers, a good understanding of racial justice in practice and strong organisational and communication skills. You’ll be confident working across communities, able to manage multiple priorities and be motivated by seeing people and parishes flourish.

One of SJN’s key initiatives is the Sanctuary & Racial Justice Programme, which works with local authorities, charities and community groups to support and integrate refugee families into their communities. 

The Social Justice Network aims to bring people together. Issues such as low income, debt, lack of skills, poor mental health, forced displacement and isolation are closely interlinked, trapping individuals and communities in cycles of poverty. Our Sanctuary & Racial Justice Programmes help individuals and families rebuild their lives after forced displacement. Services include Welcome Hubs, Arts and Wellbeing activities, ESOL classes, employment support and casework. We focus on fostering long-term, meaningful connections with local church communities to restore stability, dignity and belonging.

About the role 

This role sits at the heart of UK Community Foundations’ ambition to build a strong, confident and connected community foundation field across the UK. You will help grow the field by supporting shared learning, strengthening our collective infrastructure and helping people connect with each other in meaningful ways. 

You will work across communities of practice, learning activity, digital spaces and shared resources. You will also curate the monthly newsletter and events bulletin, helping members stay connected to learning opportunities, insights and activity across the field. You will help gather insight, notice patterns and bring ideas together so that the community foundation movement can continue to learn, adapt and evolve. 

You will also play an important role in supporting a high quality member experience. This includes being a first point of contact for member enquiries, helping ensure members receive clear, timely and welcoming responses, and supporting continuous improvement of our membership offer. 

You do not need to have worked in community foundations before. We are interested in people who bring curiosity, transferable skills and a commitment to learning. 

The Field Building team leads work on leadership development, international learning, sector standards and shared knowledge. This role connects across all of that work and gives you a broad view of how the field operates and where it is heading.

Your portfolio 

You will hold responsibility for three core areas. 

Communities of practice 

You will coordinate communities of practice so that they are welcoming, purposeful and inclusive spaces. This includes planning sessions, preparing content, facilitation, making introductions and helping conversations flow. 

You will listen closely to what participants are learning and feed insights back into the team. You will help track themes across groups and contribute to shaping future learning agendas. You will also support participation and follow up, helping ensure members feel encouraged and able to engage. 

Member Hub 

You will manage and curate the Member Hub (our online learning and networking community) so that it becomes a trusted, accessible and lively space for the network. This includes sourcing and sharing useful content, keeping resources up to date, highlighting emerging practice and making sure the Hub is easy to navigate. 

You will be a first point of contact for member enquiries through the Hub, responding to questions, signposting support, and working with colleagues across UKCF to ensure members receive timely and helpful responses. 

You will work closely with colleagues to ensure content is timely, relevant and accessible to a wide range of users, and you will help track engagement so we can understand what members are using and where further support may be helpful. 

Resource Library 

You will take ownership of the resource library and keep it organised, dynamic and responsive to member needs. You will bring together tools and learning from across the sector, identify gaps and help ensure resources reflect emerging practice. 

You will curate and summarise content so it is easy for members to find and use, and you will support benchmarking surveys and ad hoc requests for network wide data where needed. 

Your wider responsibilities 

Learning and events 

You will support the delivery of learning days, webinars and the national conference. This includes planning, communication, logistics, content coordination and technical support to help events run smoothly and feel welcoming and accessible. 

You will provide administrative and logistical support for in person and online events, including managing bookings, liaising with venues and suppliers, coordinating travel and catering, preparing materials, and communicating clearly with participants. 

You will play a key role in supporting the delivery of UKCF’s biannual conference, leading on administrative and logistical coordination to ensure the event is well organised, well attended and delivered to a high standard. 

You will also curate the monthly newsletter and events bulletin, working with colleagues to gather content, highlight opportunities and share learning in a clear and engaging way. 

From time to time, you may support or contribute to training sessions for UKCF colleagues or network members. 

Insight and field development 

You will help gather intelligence about what is happening across the field. You will notice patterns, spot emerging needs and contribute ideas that support UKCF’s thought leadership. 

You will help surface examples of innovation and learning from across the network and share them through the Member Hub, newsletters and other channels. 

You will also support the team in gathering and responding to member feedback, helping to improve learning, resources and the overall member experience. 

Collaboration across UKCF 

You will work closely with colleagues across UK Community Foundations to ensure field building activity, learning and communications align with wider organisational priorities.

The Role

The service aims to identify and provide key worker support to meet the needs of stroke survivors and carers across the stroke pathway. Providing a range of innovative support solutions, supporting them to meet their desired outcomes.

The Stroke Support Coordinator will:

• Support new stroke survivors and their carers from hospital discharge into the community.
• Provide personalised information, advice and support.
• Support stroke survivors to make informed lifestyle changes which will help them to prevent further strokes.
• Work collaboratively with NHS colleagues and other areas of the community to make a difference in the lives of people affected by stroke.

About You

The post holder will have experience/background in:

• A caring profession ideally with experience of supporting people with disabilities.
• Setting up and running virtual groups.

This role requires extensive travel across Plymouth to visit people at home and in community settings. Candidates must be able to demonstrate how they can meet this requirement of the role.

About this key role

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, our Floating Support Caseworker will be expected to provide essential support, advice and advocacy to young people on accommodation-related needs, including homelessness prevention. You will produce support and risk management plans based on assessments, promoting inter-agency collaboration in the assessment and planning process, and ensure all monitoring information and evidence is being recorded and collated in line with agreed processes and procedures.

We will also count on you to deliver a holistic support service which will involve providing practical help that includes housing support, attending appointments, ETE guidance, benefits, budgeting, utilities and court attendance. Developing and maintaining relationships with partner agencies, including police, probation, children’s services and local authorities, is also a key aspect of this role, as is ensuring you close cases efficiently and positively.
