As an Adult Carers Fundraiser Admin & Support Volunteer, you will play a key part in helping Carers Trust Solihull secure funding that enables us to continue and expand our vital services for adult carers across the borough.

Working alongside the manager, you will help identify and apply for funding opportunities, assist with administrative and community-based fundraising activities, and represent the charity in local events. Your support will directly contribute to improving the quality of life for carers by enabling new services, resources, and opportunities.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

• Research and help identify funding opportunities relevant to our work with carers.
• Support the manager with administrative tasks linked to grant applications and fundraising.
• Represent Carers Trust Solihull as a friendly and professional ambassador at fundraising events.
• Keep accurate records of fundraising activity, donations, and outcomes.
• Attend and help organise fundraising events that support our mission.
• Present pre-prepared presentations or films to funders and partners to raise awareness of our work.
• Assist or lead in writing small grant applications (and larger ones where confident).
• Collect and log donated items for our service (e.g., gift vouchers, tickets, Easter eggs, and Christmas selection boxes).
• Monitor when key funding streams renew or reopen, ensuring timely applications.
• Work collaboratively with the manager to assess the viability of opportunities within our available resources.
• Carry out any other agreed tasks related to fundraising and community engagement.

This vacancy is for across the West Midlands County, with volunteering opportunities across Birmingham, Solihull, and the Black Country.

Volunteers would be expected to commit 100 hours of volunteering a year in a clinical capacity. They will also be expected to keep in regular contact with their line manager and keep up to date with their training.

This role will require an in-person interview, which will take place provisionally in West Bromwich. Interview dates/times will be emailed to you should your application be successful. Please ensure that you are able to attend an in person interview in West Bromwich before submitting your application.

Once your screening for role has been completed, you will be invited to attend your local St John Ambulance Network for a Welcome and Induction.

Training for this role consists of online learning modules and a 6 day in-person course, normally spread across three weekends. Your local Network will support you through the training process.

The Emergency Responder programme includes: - A knowledge workbook to work through at your own pace before the course, supported by members of your network, -16 hours of self-directed e-learning, done alongside the workbook and, - 48 hours of in-person training sessions spread over 6 days. Those with a Level 3 qualification or higher in First Responder on Scene (FROS) or First Responder Emergency Care (FREC) already will only have to complete 16 hours of in-person training sessions.

The Recruitment Officer is responsible for attracting, onboarding, and supporting new volunteers into the charity. The Network meet regularly, every Wednesday evening, but this is not mandatory to attend; occasionally would be wonderful. Need to attend regular Network Leads meetings (monthly).

Following the successful shortlisting of your application, you will be invited to an in-person interview. This is a relaxed opportunity for us to get to know you, and you to learn more about the role and ensure it is a good fit for your volunteering aspirations. We will then undertake necessary screening for the role, including an Enhanced DBS check, right to volunteer check, professional references and an occupational health assessment. Please note this process usually takes around 6 weeks.

Volunteers would be expected to attend training for the role both online and in person, to attend regularly network weekly meetings to enable them to keep their skills up to date.
