Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs) are at the heart of the cadet experience. As a CFAV, you will guide and support young people, lead or assist in training sessions, and help create a safe, supportive and rewarding environment. You can volunteer as a uniformed or non-uniformed instructor - no military experience is required, all training will be provided.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Support, mentor and encourage cadets, helping them build confidence and life skills
• Assist with planning and delivering training sessions, including subjects such as; first aid, map reading and navigation, fieldcraft, drill and turnout, expedition and adventure training, leadership tasks and teamwork
• Participate in community events, remembrance parades, competitions and weekend activities and residential camps.
• Help with cadet development, assessments and progression as set out in the Army Cadet Syllabus.
• Promote safeguarding, inclusion and wellbeing.
• Work collaboratively with other volunteers and staff to deliver a varied and engaging programme

Skills & Experience (Not Essential):

• Experience of working with young people (youth work, teaching, coaching or similar)
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Leadership, organisation or teamwork abilities
• Enthusiasm, patience and willingness to learn

Our Shop Volunteers raise money for the people we support with a Learning Disability. Do you have a few hours a week to spare and share your time with us?

Our retail roles are varied and fun. You could be sorting donations from the public, dressing our window or serving customers on the till. There are many people from different walks of life and it's a great way to get practical experience and to meet new people.

This role will take place on a weekly basis for a few hours We will try our best to be flexible around the best time for you, but also need to consider the store opening times and volunteer rota. It could be a weekday or weekend, morning or afternoon, our stores are usually open 7 days a week. We’d appreciate any time that you can spare.

Whilst in the store, you will help with activities based on the needs of the Store Manager. 

**Tasks you could get up to whilst volunteering could include:**

- Serving customers on the till
- Taking stock donations from the public
- Tagging and steaming stock for the shop floor
- Dressing the window displays
- Asking people to join us as a volunteer

The Vegan Society aims to make veganism more accessible. We help people to adopt a vegan lifestyle by supporting individuals, policy- and decision-makers, caterers, manufacturers, healthcare professionals and the media. 

Why do we need you? 

We are seeking a volunteer to support the curation and coordination of The Vegan Campout 2026 Family Area line-up. The role will focus on identifying, researching and contacting vegan entertainers and activity providers who work with children with the aim of securing at least 10 volunteer-led sessions across the weekend. 

What does the role involve? 

The volunteer will research online and across social media platforms to identify suitable individuals or organisations, including children’s entertainers, artists, musicians, performers, storytellers, sports instructors, craft facilitators and creative practitioners. Activities should cater for both extroverted and introverted children and may include sessions such as Zumba, mask making, painting, creative writing, music workshops, movement sessions or storytelling. The theme of the activity does not need to be explicitly vegan, but all facilitators must be vegan and all materials used must be vegan. 
 
The volunteer will make initial contact with potential contributors, clearly explaining that this is an unpaid opportunity in exchange for free weekend tickets to Vegan Campout 2026. Each facilitator would deliver one hour of engaging activity for children during the festival. 
 
The volunteer will collect essential information from confirmed facilitators, including business details for promotion, confirmation of DBS status, safeguarding information and a short description of their proposed session. Our Education Officer, Laura Diamond will provide the volunteer with the information capture form to send to confirmed facilitators, ensuring all required personal and safeguarding details are collected consistently. 
 
The target outcome is a minimum of five confirmed acts for Saturday and five for Sunday, totalling at least 10 contributors secured by the end of April 2026. As a thank you for their contribution, the volunteer undertaking this role will also receive a free weekend ticket to Vegan Campout 2026. 

What training and support is available? 

Laura will provide tasks, offer guidance, review proposed facilitators and give feedback. We will plan a check-in meeting once a fortnight to review progress, discuss leads and agree next steps. Additional communication via email can take place as needed. 

What skills would be useful in doing this role?

What does my availability need to be? 

Volunteer hours can be flexible across the week depending on the volunteer’s availability. The role is task-focused rather than time-bound, though consistent weekly engagement will be needed to secure the required number of acts within the timeframe. The role does not need to take place strictly during working hours. Some flexibility at the beginning would be helpful to allow occasional meetings within standard working hours. Once the volunteer is confident and working independently, most tasks can be completed outside of standard working hours.

CHARITY SHOP VOLUNTEER – CUSTOMER SERVICE - LEWES

PURPOSE

To assist the Shop Manger in the running of an Age UK East Sussex Charity Shop with a focus on serving customers, driving sales and store presentation.

We are currently looking for volunteers on weekdays and weekends.

· Greet and thank customers in a polite and friendly manner

We are looking to recruit people for our Youth Programme, for a minimum commitment of 10 weeks. The Youth Programme works with young refugees and asylum seekers in the Epirus region of Northern Greece, providing them with a sense of community and experiences that they wouldn’t otherwise receive!

There are some specific applicant requirements, however the most important is to have a strong desire to work with young refugees and have the commitment to improve the situation for them here in Greece. Second Tree works in a transparent way in a challenging and changeable situation on the field; therefore, an ability to learn quickly and be open to feedback is vital.

Your role would include:

We are looking to recruit people that are open to filling one (or more) of the following roles within our Youth Programme. Whilst these should guide applications, the roles often overlap and are interchangeable. The roles range across:

• Children’s English Teacher: responsible for the planning and delivery of the programme’s English classes. Classes focus on low level English learning and must be fun and engaging. TEFL/equivalent experience is preferable, but not essential.

• Excursion Lead: responsible for the planning and leading of weekend excursions, a highlight of the programme for participants! Excursions require an organised, methodical planner who is engaging and confident leading groups of children.

• Workshop Lead: responsible for facilitating workshops that can be either thematic, reinforcing the vocabulary learned in English class to make it more practical and interactive, or focused on social and emotional learning, helping students develop their self-awareness through creative and mindful activities, or touch upon any scientific/mathematical knowledge the teacher might bring. 

No matter the role(s) filled, team members are expected to help plan, prepare and participate in various community engagement activities such as: picnics, community excursions, sporting events, etc.

About us: GT Scholars is a social enterprise that tackles educational inequality by giving ambitious young people the support, skills and strategies they need to achieve their aspirations. 

We believe that all young people are gifted and talented, regardless of their background. We run a wide range of programmes that help young people achieve their academic and career aspirations, particularly those from less-privileged backgrounds.

Responsibilities: Facilitators are responsible for designing creative and interactive workshops for our young people, and delivering these workshops with our young people. We run some of our workshops online and other workshops are held in London. All workshops are held during the school holidays, in the evening and on weekends.

The workshop facilitator role is flexible and as part of your role, you may be involved in:

• Delivering and leading short workshops or courses, on behalf of GT Scholars (Online or offline)

• Designing engaging, interactive and educational workshops and short courses for young people and ensuring that the content is targeted to suit different abilities and capabilities

• Running your own bespoke workshops, eg. workshops in coding and technology

• Managing short activities and Q&A sessions during our workshops

• Working collaboratively with other event coordinators, volunteers, ambassadors, workshop facilitators and speakers at our events

• Following the agreed timings and content for workshops and courses

Person specification: 

As workshop facilitator, you will need to:

• Have passion, knowledge and experience in coding, computing and technology

• Have strong presentation skills

• Have strong communication skills

• Be personable and able to confidently communicate with people from a range of backgrounds and professions.

Availability: Workshops will run during the day on school holiday dates, on Saturdays or in the evening (5pm-8pm).

We need people who have a passion for helping others, care about their communities and want to make a difference. Through volunteering as an Emergency Responder, you’ll get a huge sense of satisfaction and pride delivering essential first aid and lifesaving clinical care at community and major events in your areas, including at sporting events, concerts, community festivals.

We will make sure you will have access to a proper induction to volunteering with SJA and the training you need for the role you take on. Our management committee has succession needs. We seek a trustee to chair it and build on our strong heritage and renew for the next generation, a people-person who can attract and develop a team of custodians with diverse skills to give management oversight and strategic direction.

What will you be doing?

We are looking for someone who will enjoy being part of our community and who has the drive to help renew and guide the work at our Dorset retreat centre.

Our Dorset centre has recently undergone very successful updating of some of the facilities. We have a loyal visitor base who respond generously to appeals for donations.  We are looking to recruit a Trustee who can join a team of people with varied expertise to make steady and sustained progress to ensure that this much loved centre, with 100 years of history is a treasured resource for the next generation.

Our vision is to be a place for both environmental awareness and inclusive Christian theology, experienced by the way we live, the programme of events that we hold and how we run and renew the buildings and land; practical hope in action.

The charity is well governed with Trustees taking responsibility for the finances, health & safety and safeguarding. We have good accountancy support and our financial reserves are adequate.

As Chair of the Centre Management Committee you have responsibility for the Burton Bradstock  centre but also as a Trustee of the whole charity with providing strategic direction of the whole charity.

The Centre Management Committee meets 2x in person at the centre each year and overnight accommodation is available.  The whole board of Trustees meet online quarterly (a weekday evening 1.5 hours) and have two residential weekend meetings per year, one at each centre (Bradwell-on-Sea, Essex and Burton Bradstock, Dorset). The charity covers all out-of-pocket expenses.

What are we looking for?

Most importantly the energy, time and enthusiasm to support the flourishing of the Retreat Centre; after that then one or more of the following would be helpful:

• Line management experience
• Working within Charity Commission guidelines
• Operational or facilities management experience
• Previous Trustee experience or similar (nice but not a requirement)

As part of the role, successful volunteers would need to attend a six-day training course (over three weekends), and maintain CPD by completing a minimum of 100 operational hours (as an Emergency Responder at events). Volunteers would also be expected to attend network meetings on a regular basis.

We will be running a number of information events locally and these will be shared after selection of your application.

Interviews will be held in Mid-April at our Liverpool HQ. The selection centre will include an informal conversation with some of our volunteers, double checking of details and the opportunity to have a go at some lifesaving skills.

If you are successful you will need to undertake induction & training for role at these dates:

• Welcome Event (Induction) -01st September 2026, details of times, venue to follow. Induction will be partly done during network meetings supported by a wider SJA introduction day, once screening for role is completed.
• Training for role -  There will be a number of training courses available across the country, and these will likely be in the autumn. Details of course including dates, time & venue TBC.
