About the role

Since Crick’s inception in 2015, its external funding portfolio has steadily grown and diversified with funding now received from a broad range of national and international funding bodies, each with their own regulations, policies and conditions.

As Senior Manager – Post-Award Grant Compliance, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the Crick’s continued adherence to funder terms and conditions. You’ll lead the development and implementation of robust post-award grant processes, working across internal teams to provide expert guidance on compliance and regulatory requirements. Acting as the primary point of contact for external funding bodies, you’ll maintain a deep understanding of funder policies and ensure that grants and contracts are managed accordingly.  As an experienced post-award professional, you will have familiarity with business-as-usual research finance practices including project reconciliation using general ledger reports, funder invoicing, journal posting, budgeting, income recognition and other month-end processes.

As a senior member of the Finance and Grants team, you’ll also provide leadership support by deputising for the Post-Award Team Lead when required, a responsibility that could lead to future opportunities for line management. Drawing on your experience within a higher education or research-intensive environment, you will have extensive experience of post award management along with clear evidence of adding value and improving processes in previous roles.  This is a high-impact role that offers the opportunity to influence best practice across the organisation so you will need to be a strong leader who is confidence in the training and development of others striving for best practice.  Previous experience in the development and implementation of systems would be highly desirable.

What you will be doing

As a Senior Manager – Post-Award Grant Compliance at the Crick, you will:

• Provide specialist expertise in matters pertaining to grant compliance and ensure that grant funded research at the Crick is compliant.

• Develop and refine robust business processes and IT system controls

• Be responsible for the development and improvement of post-award procedures, SOPs and systems to enable efficient and effective grant support.

• Be responsible for the effective communication to and training of post-award grants team members in all areas of grants management best practice.

• Proactively identify compliance risks throughout the current portfolio and advise scientific and operational colleagues on necessary actions.

About the Role:

What will you be doing?

1.  Grants and Finance Support:

· Support with invoice entry and payment reconciliation on the grants system.

· Manage the organisation’s petty cash and reconciliation

2. HR Support:

· Support the HR Manager with recruitment and onboarding processes, and other key HR activities, including:

·  Assist the teams with recruitment administrative tasks including posting job adverts on relevant job boards; arranging interviews; responding to job applicants; issuing reference requests; filing of recruitment records.

· Provide support with induction process and induction schedules for new joiners.

·  Perform data entry and update records and databases for personnel in the HR Information system.

· Update organisation charts and other key documents and handle confidential information professionally.

3. Reception and Enquiries:

· Welcome visitors at Buttle UK and be the first point of contact for phone calls and visitors, signposting callers and enquiries when Buttle UK cannot assist

·  Take responsibility for the out-of-hours voicemail facility and respond to all messages on a timely basis.

· Manage company correspondence including phone calls, emails, letters and packages in accordance with Buttle UK procedures, and distribute to relevant staff.

4. General Administration for the Buttle Office

Role description:

We are excited to be seeking a talented and motivated individual to join Southampton Hospitals Charity as our Grants Manager.

This role will provide the right candidate with a rare opportunity to implement, embed and oversee the delivery of the Charity’s £2.5 million dedicated grant programmes from pre to post award.

Covering four programmes (Patient Care, Research & Development, Clinical Innovation and Staff Education & Improvement), the post holder will be responsible for managing circa £2.5M of expenditure each year, ensuring they deliver impact for patients, staff and donors.

This is a unique opportunity to work within the hospital environment where the projects we fund are delivered, supporting clinical staff to access funding to directly improve patient care. You will be vital in cultivating these in-hospital relationships.

Main responsibilities

Grant Management & Compliance

• Oversee the delivery of the charity’s dedicated grant programmes from pre to post award: Patient Care, Research & Development, Clinical Innovation and Staff Education & Improvement. The post holder will be responsible for circa £2.5M expenditure per annum ensuring they deliver impact for patients, staff and donors (grant values typically range from £2K to <£0.5M).
• Oversee the management of the charity's current grant portfolio; ensuring grants are delivered on time and in accordance with internal processes.
• Ensure compliance with financial obligations (inc. payments, reconciliations and audits) and regulatory obligations (inc. data management, grant award contracts, procurement).

Relationship & Stakeholder Management

• Build relationships with key stakeholders within University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust (UHS), including senior health professionals, executive team members, partners and beneficiaries.
• Work to embed the grants programmes within the hospital environment and work with UHS staff to support them in access funding through working within the hospital and regular visits to clinical areas.
• Act as primary liaison for the Charity’s grant making responsibilities, ensuring alignment with charitable objectives and 2024-2027 strategic mission 
• Provide support to Director of Operations and Resources and the Senior Leadership Team, fostering a collaborative approach to grant programme delivery in tandem with fundraising, communication and art programme goals.

• Develop strategies for allocating resources effectively and the ongoing review of grant programmes (aiming for continual improvement).
• Develop strategies for working in partnership with UHS for joint decision making, the effective management of capital awards and high value grant requests.
• Identify new grant opportunities and potential partnerships to diversify funding streams.
• Maximise grant impact by contributing to the business planning process.

Evaluation, Reporting & Impact

• Oversee processes for effective grant monitoring, reporting and analysis of grants portfolio.
• Develop and implement an evaluation framework for the charity’s grants programme, ensuring this is embedded and linked to organisation wide reporting mechanisms and measurable outcomes are achieved.
• Use data and insights to inform the continuous improvement of grant-making practices and programme development.
• Utilise information captured to promote grant programmes and support Fundraising and Communications Directorate.
• Support the Grants and Impact Officer.

General

• Support the line management and continuing professional development of the grants team.
• Ensure content and material is in line with Directorate of Fundraising and Communications for marketing, publications, website and social media responsibilities.

About this role

The Programmes Quality and Delivery department is a key unit within SPANA’s Global Programmes Directorate (GPD). The team ensures effective oversight of the design and delivery of working animal health and welfare interventions in collaboration with a range of national NGO partners across more than 20 countries in Africa, the Middle East, Asia and Central and South America. SPANA is strengthening the GPD to support partners to develop and deliver transformational and sustainable improvements in working animal welfare. 

Reporting to a Senior Programmes Manager, the Programmes Officer provides essential grant administration and project management support to a portfolio of partners, ensuring effective oversight across the lifecycle of grants. This involves developing effective working partnerships remotely and identifying risks and issues that need to be escalated. The Programmes Officer works closely with technical colleagues responsible for Monitoring Evaluation Accountability and Learning (MEAL), animal health and welfare, education and behaviour change and the wider organisation (e.g., communications, fundraising, advocacy and policy). 

Contract, location and salary

This role is a full-time (34.5 hours per week), permanent role. This is a UK based position, with 1-2 days per month (or more if preferred) worked from SPANA's office in London.

Prospectus is excited to be collaborating with our client to recruit for a Grants and Enquiries Officer to join their team. This role is offered on a 3-year contract with the possibility to be made permanent. The role is largely to be undertaken remotely, ideally with some face to face working a couple of times per month at their London office.

The organisation is an independent charity providing crucial support to music professionals across the UK whose lives have been impacted by physical or mental ill health. The Grants and Enquiries Officer is a new role at the organisation. Working with the Director of Grant Giving and Grants Manager, the postholder will play a key role in the efficient running of the Grants Department. We're now hiring a Grants Manager, who will play a key role in the delivery and development of MQ’s research funding programmes. Working under the direction of the Programme lead, you will take day-to-day ownership of capacity building initiatives and funding programmes, managing activity across the full grants lifecycle from funding call design through to award completion, learning, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Partnership Management – Support new research initiatives, working with consortium partners to ensure high-quality execution and learning.

• Impact Management & Reporting – Support impact tracking, monitoring, and reporting across funded programmes, including coordinating and reviewing Research.

Also, prepare engagement letters and supporting materials for lived experience experts, ensuring expectations and commitments are clearly communicated.

Person Specification

We're looking for someone with:

• Experience in grants management, programme coordination, research funding, or a related role.
• Experience managing projects or programmes with multiple stakeholders and deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presenting to diverse audiences.
• Understanding of academic research processes and experience engaging with universities, research institutions, or research charities.
• Good organisational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Financial awareness, with experience supporting budgets, invoices, or grant spend.
