Job description

Are you great at connecting with people?  Are you looking for a great opportunity to showcase and develop your comms and engagement skills?

We are looking to recruit a  Communications and Engagement Officer role to play a key part in driving forward our Grange Big Local project.

At Grange Big Local it is our mission to promote a thriving and caring community in our patch of East Finchley, where our residents can flourish, our environment can blossom, and our economy can grow.

We want to empower and give a voice to all residents in the GBL area, nurturing an inclusive social ecosystem where we can look out for and support each other. We want to celebrate our local environment and make proper use of the nature that we have, whilst mapping out opportunities for increasing green space. But, most of all, we want to play our part in levelling up our community and supporting those who are struggling the most.

Grange Big Local is delivered by Inclusion Barnet, a thriving Deaf and Disabled People's Organisation (DDPO) that believes in the social model of disability, and where 80% of our staff have lived experience of disability.

This role has a strong communications bias, and we are looking for someone who can really help communicate using a range of different mediums with local people in the Grange Big Local area

You’ll have an engaging writing and verbal communication style that you can adapt to suit different audiences, including writing accessibly when required.

You’ll have a good instinct for what’s on message for the organisation, and how to capture the attention of our key audiences.  At the same time, you’ll be confident using a range of social media, creating engaging content, using ICT and comfortable with updating our website content.

In return, the successful candidate will become part of a friendly and supportive team, working within a focused but flexible culture, where diversity is valued, and you can bring your whole self to work.

Lived experience of disability, long-term health or mental health condition, will be needed to successfully deliver the role. We also welcome applications from Black, Asian and other minoritised candidates, who are currently underrepresented in our organisation.

To apply, please submit your CV with a brief covering letter clearly stating how you meet the person specification
