As our Legacy Officer you'll be responsible for the day-to-day administration of legacies in accordance with our policies and strategy. You'll manage your own caseload of largely residuary legacies, working up to include complex and contentious cases. You will answer enquiries from solicitors and individuals in connection with bequests and assist in all matters relating to the department’s work. 

Our Legacy team is sector leading. You’ll have the opportunity to build the British Heart Foundation’s (BHF) reputation as a good recipient of legacies and increase the BHF’s income from bequests.

Over half of our income comes from people leaving a gift to us in their Will. Charitable legacies are therefore vital to enable us to continue our life-saving research programme to fight cardiovascular disease.

Working arrangements

This is a blended role, where your work will be dual located between your home and our London office.

Parkinson’s UK – Head of Major Gifts

This role will support and inspire an ambitious and high performing team to build propositions, proposals and pipelines in order to unlock opportunities to engage the charity’s supporters and untap networks across the charity, securing vital funds to underpin their strategic programmes and ambitions for people with Parkinson’s. The post-holder will inspire supporters to give their biggest donation and ensure that the organisation is giving its supporters the best experience possible, delivering an annual income target of £6m+. The role will also play a pivotal part in driving a new multi-year, multi-million pound charity appeal.

Maximising the value and contribution of supporters is fundamental to Parkinson’s UK; building networks, understanding what motivates their supporters, and aligning programmes to their charitable interests is key to the charity’s growth plans for Major Gifts. This role will be critical to leading the philanthropy, trust and statutory, special events and prospect research and insights teams (approximately 18 people) and working with colleagues and leaders across the charity to identify prospects and opportunities to give at a transformational level. The post will also be an active member of the Fundraising Leadership Team.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in major gifts fundraising and a proven track record of securing large gifts. They will also have experience of managing a large annual income target and driving continued growth and ensuring targets are met. They will have the ability to lead, motivate and inspire multiple teams to coordinate projects and exceed fundraising targets. Strong presentation skills and budgetary skills will be combined with the ability to build positive and high-value relationships across a range of sectors, individuals, organisations and committees. Mid-Level Giving Officer

Position Objective:

The Mid-Level Giving Officer will support PETA’s impact and growth through their work with an exciting portfolio of mid-level donors typically giving £250 - £999 size gifts. They will be responsible for managing all aspects of cultivating, stewarding and soliciting from this pool of valued supporters, including Vanguard Society Members, to provide a first-rate donor experience while deepening members’ engagement and financial support. The Mid-Level Giving Officer will also work collaboratively with other departments to enhance the mid-level donor experience, identify and refer major donor prospects to the appropriate team members, and ensure that efficient processes are in place.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain a portfolio of Vanguard Society donors and prospects
• Creating engaging donor journeys and presenting opportunities for deeper engagement
• Develop and implement donor-specific plans of strategic communication touches by phone, email and mail. This will include updates on PETA’s progress and victories, messages of gratitude, invitations to events, and asks to donors to increase their financial support. 
• Manage a portfolio of Vanguard Society and mid-level donors, each giving £250 + or with the capacity to make annual gifts at a higher level (at one time as well as cumulatively), including cultivating and stewarding each donor to increase their engagement and giving.
• Solicit and close gifts from assigned mid-level donors.
• Regularly qualify new prospects and donors in their capacity, inclination, affinity, and readiness to give.
• Track and achieve key activity and revenue metrics, while meeting weekly with the manager to report on progress, challenges, and opportunities.
• Ensure that mid-level donors’ database records are updated in a timely fashion. Document pertinent information (meetings, correspondence, notes, etc.) for the purpose of enhancing and developing PETA's donor database.
• Coordinate and collaborate with other teams and colleagues, including legacy, direct response, data, prospect research and communications, to enhance the donor experience and ensure that efficient processes are in place.
• Stay up-to-date on mid-level fundraising techniques and methods used in the nonprofit sector and attend professional-training opportunities as well as weekly coaching and progress reporting meetings

• Acknowledge, thank and recognise donors appropriate to their level of support, and ensure restricted gifts are appropriately allocated
• Work with key PETA staff to find ways to engage donors in our mission, including by meeting supporters face to face or over the phone
• Monitor donors’ motivations and help to contribute to tailor cultivation events
• Maintain a clear understanding of – and the ability to articulate – PETA's objectives as well as details of specific PETA programmes

Prostate Cancer Research

Prostate Cancer Research is seeking a Head of Individual Giving to oversee their individual donor, legacy and in memory income streams, currently raising approximately £800k per annum.

Prostate Cancer Research aims to develop and deliver breakthrough medicines and treatments to achieve a world where people are free from the impact of prostate cancer. The charity believes that it is only through research that we can build a future in which no family will have to fear losing a loved one to prostate cancer. In the last four years the charity has expanded the amount of research it funds by four times.

This is a newly created role to increase the impact of the fundraising strategy, lead on its implementation and set the foundations for the future growth in an area of fundraising where the charity believes there is huge potential. It’s also an exciting opportunity to take the results of a current strategic review on individual giving and take the insight and tools gathered to build the individual giving programme and develop a strategy for people, products and campaigns to grow income.

The charity is seeking a professional with a great understanding and track record of success in individual giving and who is keen to explore new audiences and innovative approaches. You will have experience in executing acquisition, retention and growth strategies and of achieving significant income growth through individual donations, in memory and legacy income streams. THE ROLE
The Contracts Manager will join our Operations team to represent the Woodland Trust locally, supporting a diverse portfolio of sites within North England, in line with the Trust’s standards and ensuring the safety of our colleagues, visitors, contractors and volunteers. It shall be the Contracts Manager’s responsibility to support Site Managers’ in the preparation and delivery of grant applications, operational contracts and projects including silvicultural operations. 

The Contracts Manager will initiate, develop and project manage new innovative projects within and across the woodlands, working with external partner and a cross-departmental team of foresters, people engagement specialists, communications specialists and funders.

They will identify opportunities to streamline services, develop our contractor base and maximise the income and grant aid potential of work programmes. They are responsible for ensuring that all necessary agreements, mitigations and consents are in place in preparation for the delivery of contracts and in accordance with all Woodland Trust Health and Safety policies and procedures.

This is a 2-year fixed term contract until end of April 2026. A company car will be provided with this role.

THE CANDIDATE
With previous experience in land-based management in the forestry, woodland management, or nature conservation sector, you’ll have experience in writing and reviewing site management plans, budget and contract management, and Health and Safety management.

You’ll have experience in the writing and delivery grant schemes across woodland creation and for specifying, instructing, and supervising woodland management operations. You’ll be experienced in planning, monitoring, and delivering multi-disciplinary projects to time and to budget and in engaging with contractors and suppliers on pricing, implementation, and delivery.

You must have a proactive ‘can-do’ attitude, excellent communication skills, be commercially aware and able to build effective partnerships internally and externally.  You’ll have experience engaging with external stakeholders, communities and volunteers with a collaborative approach. A working knowledge of the operational, ie Forest Works Management of woodlands would be desirable.

A full driving licence is a must have, along with the ability to undertake travel across a wide area, sometimes to remote locations. Occasional overnight stays will be required and you will be expected to live in the region and within easy reach of key sites in North England.

INTRODUCTION TO THE ROLE

Girls Not Brides is seeking an experienced digital communications professional to manage the Girls Not Brides website in English, French and Spanish, including website development, maintenance, continuous improvement planning, infrastructure, architecture, and user journey. You will be responsible for implementing a website improvement project and a new members area. This role will also be responsible for developing and producing performance data, evaluation, and reporting across our digital channels. We are looking for someone who has a passion for managing websites, using data to improve performance and engagement, and using digital platforms to drive movements. The successful applicant will support across our digital channels. This role sits in the Communications Team and reports to the Communications Manager. You will work closely with external website developers to deliver a website that showcases Girls Not Brides and our role as the global movement to end child marriage.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Girls Not Brides website (70%)

• Lead the development and implementation of the website improvement strategy and project plan, with support from the Communications Manager.
• Recommend and manage changes to the website architecture, front-end design, features, integrations, and user-journey improvements.
• Manage the day-to-day of activity of Girls Not Brides website, including uploading content in 3 languages (English, French and Spanish), optimising content for web, updating static pages when needed, and recommending updates and upgrades to the CMS.
• Responsible for managing website projects, including the upgrade, update and support and maintenance pipeline, as well as larger-scale changes to website functionality and architecture, managing external contractors to produce the work required on time and within budget.
• Research and implementing best-practices for search engine optimisation (SEO) across website copy and architecture.

Essential experience

• Significant professional experience in a similar level role, ideally in the not-for-profit sector, an international/intergovernmental organisation, a social movement, research centre, or social enterprise.
• Significant professional experience in developing and implementing website improvement strategies and coordinating large website development project plans.
• Significant professional experience in website management, including planning, implementing, monitoring, and upgrading content, architecture, and features.

About the roles:

These roles offer flexibility for home and office working with travel to appointments to meet clients across London is required. Office locations are Islington & Earl's Court.

As a Triage Caseworker you will cover shifts on a rota basis Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm and Saturday 9am to 5pm. You will make initial contact with clients explaining Victim Supports services & completing initial needs & risks assessment, and were required making ongoing referrals. You will need experience of delivering a telephone work and processing service with clients in a similar setting along with knowledge around safeguarding issues and legislation.

You will need to be able to manage a demanding workload and to meet a range of conflicting deadlines.
