Lia's Wings are looking to appoint a Fundraising Manager into a brand new role, at an incredibly exciting time for the charity. As the only aeroplane ambulance charity for children in the UK, we are experiencing a period of phenomenal growth, with incredible opportunities and potential for fundraising.
Being responsible for the management and delivery of our challenge events, special events and community fundraising activities, this role will involve working with some of our most committed supporters on a series of engaging (and fun) events that are continuing to grow year on year. The Fundriasing Manager will also be expected to support our corporate partners, and engage with our Family Fundraising efforts, giving them the opportunity to meet, and work with our incredible beneficiaries first-hand.
A hybrid role: this post will be mostly remote but will involve travelling to regular (fortnightly) team meetings in central London (Zone 1), or, our operating base at Biggin Hill Airport, and, to manage events across the UK throughout the year.
The perfect candidate for this role will have experience of managing various types of fundraising events, but first and foremost, we are looking for a consummate fundraiser who is passionate about stewarding fundraisers. We are looking for a fundraiser who can think outside the box, solve problems, and support supporters, donors and fundraisers of all levels, to ensure we maximise every opportunity we receive.
Reporting to the Head of Fundraising, this role will be integral to the growth of Lia's Wings, and is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking for a role at a small charity, where their efforts will make a real difference.
Over the last year we have had more people than ever before hoping to fundraise for Lia’s Wings, which has given rise to some fantastic new events being created (led by the charity), alongside several wonderful community-led partnerships with schools and social clubs around the UK.
Every year we also have a great uptake in classic charity challenges taking place both in the UK, and overseas, including the London Landmarks and Royal Parks Half Marathon, and the Berlin and Chicago Marathons. We have also had great success delivering our own, bespoke charity challenges, which we hope will continue into the future. For 2025, we are due to complete the second instalment of an annual Lia’s Wings Overseas Cycle Challenge, a Shark dive, Skydive and three peaks challenges, amongst many others, which this role would be expected to lead on, and develop for years to come.
Corporate Partnerships are one of our key income streams, with employees from dozens of companies supporting our events efforts. As well as managing these events, there would be a certain level of devolved account management with these partners, with the post holder becoming the primary point of contact for those firms.
We also have a growing network of community groups – including schools and social groups – who want to support Lia’s Wings as a partner charity. It is an area we would love to expand, with this role being crucial to the ongoing development of these areas.
And finally: for the past two years we have we also hosted a seasonal thank you party each Christmas (our “Jingle and Mingle”) which we hope will be another fantastic opportunity that can be developed by the right person in this role, as a real jewel in the crown of our events portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- To manage our Challenge, Community, and Special Event fundraising streams, to achieve set targets.
- To grow income sustainably from our existing portfolio of events, ensuring continued high performance, engagement, and participation.
- To design, develop, and deliver new events that are suitable for our primary supporter audiences, alongside the Head of Fundraising.
- To effectively steward fundraisers to ensure an excellent supporter experience (resulting in positive fundraising performance, and repeat year on year participation), including appropriate thanking and recognition, reporting, and feedback on outcomes of events.
- To assume account management responsibility for smaller corporate and community partnerships (primarily engaged with the charity through events fundraising)
- To ensure a strong (in-person) team and volunteer presence at events.
- To support the Head of Fundraising on the delivery of our Corporate and Community Partnerships.
- To support our Family Support Team with the delivery of our Family Fundraising programme
- To build strong relationships with existing and potential stake holders, including event committees, and Trustees of the charity.
- To proactively manage event income and expenditure budgets, monitoring and reporting to the Head of Fundraising to support forecasting and budgeting processes, including monthly reconciliation.
- To manage all stock, consumables and promotional items related to these areas of fundraising.
- To maintain comprehensive recording-keeping relating to these areas of fundraising with existing tools including our CRM system, Salesforce.
- To attend fortnightly team meetings (in person) in London, and to attend other compulsory training days or events as required
- To support the Head of Engagement in preparing digital assets, including news pieces, photography, videography, and fundraiser case studies for our website and social media
- To ensure all practices meet statutory legislation requirements including the Data Protection Act, and Fundraising Code of Practice.
- To undertake any other duties appropriate to the post that by be required by the Head of Fundraising, including supporting the fundraising team with other in-person events throughout the year as they arise.

Our day centre service is currently open three days per-week offering respite, food and somewhere safe to be for anyone facing street homelessness. It provides advocacy and casework services to those who are vulnerably housed or homeless, supporting them to address their individual crisis and the underlying causes. The merger of Fight for Sight and Vision Foundation on 1st April 2023 has enabled us to address both questions. By combining our strengths and expertise we are now the only significant national funder with the efficiency, capability, and capacity to increase investment in medical research and social improvement. Together we can mitigate both the prevalence and impact of sight loss.
We have a clear ambition, led by our CEO, Keith Valentine, who has valuable lived experience of sight loss. We’ve secured well-respected and highly engaged ambassadors and patrons, from Sir John Major and Marsha De Cordova MP.
We are looking for a driven, committed, and creative individual to join our dynamic team as we devise and launch a new five-year strategy. You’ll be part of something impactful and a key support within the fundraising team.

Role Responsibilities:
Individual Giving
- Support the Individual Giving Manager with day-to-day communications with our donor base, including timely database administration to capture communication preferences and personal details.
- Support the Database Manager with data and financial processes, including recording and batching donations, generating reports, contributing to supporter journeys and reconciling income.
- Undertake research into new projects and areas of fundraising and highlight areas of potential opportunities to raise income and ensure continuous supporter engagement.
- Liaise with design and print suppliers to deliver appeals and other campaigns.
- Support the Individual Giving team in-person in the office, with the processing of direct marketing appeal responses, including banking of donations and sending thank you letters.
- Work with the Individual Giving Managers to implement supporter journeys to encourage further support to the organisation.
Events and Community
- Use a CRM database to effectively administer and manage event and community activities.
- To be an ambassador at all events, supporting the delivery of our vision and ensuring that the charity’s profile and reputation are enhanced.
- Work with the Events and Community team to send out literature and parcels to community groups and event participants in an efficient and timely manner.
- Researching and sourcing event materials and fulfilling event packs when required.
- Support with logistics for virtual and in-person events as required.
Wider fundraising
- Answering inbound calls as part of the head office call team, at least two days per week, and responding to or triaging enquiries to be resolved in a timely manner.
- Working with suppliers to help design, proof and order new and replacement fundraising materials (fundraising packs, t-shirts, collecting boxes etc) as necessary.
- Act as the first point of contact for external enquiries and manage internal post, including sorting incoming post and organising outgoing fundraising post from head office.
- Work with the Communications team to ensure social media posts and other promotion opportunities are carefully planned and well executed.
- Work alongside the high value team Partnerships Assistant on key events and appeal tasks when required.
- Provide general administration support across the fundraising team as required.
- Contribute to the overall fundraising strategy as a member of the Fundraising team. Share learnings and points of interest in team meetings, as well as work-based updates.
- To work in compliance with the Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Practice and data protection legislation.

Job Title: Rural Programme Coordinator – based in Liberia & Sierra Leone
Languages: German Language skills (preferred but not essential)
Salary: £27,000 - £34,000
Reporting to: Head of Programmes – Sierra Leone & Liberia
Contract Type: Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
Principal Location: Makeni, Sierra Leone, with frequent travel across Sierra Leone & Liberia

Our projects focus on a combination of education, child protection, and livelihood support to address the social, economic, and structural issues that underpin today’s education crisis. Since 2008, we have helped over 1,500,000 children go to school and learn.
Role Purpose:
- Oversee Street Child’s rolling school construction programme in Liberia and Sierra Leone.
- Support in-school, community engagement, and economic empowerment activities.
- Work closely with local partners to manage the construction of 50-100 primary and secondary schools annually.
- Frequent travel to rural communities to monitor projects and gather updates for internal and donor reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Reporting & Programme Funding Engagement – 30%
- Review narrative and financial quarterly reports from country teams and provide feedback.
- Lead the consolidation of narrative reports for various donors.
- Ensure regular information flow to communications and fundraising teams.
- Support income-generation efforts, including drafting funding proposals and donor visits.
2. Programme Management – 35%
- Collaborate with national partners, Government, and community stakeholders to identify and assess school construction needs.
- Ensure quality and timely implementation of school construction programming.
- Develop systems to track progress against key milestones and address challenges.
- Train and guide partner staff to ensure the effective use of programme documents and tools.
- Monitor safeguarding policies and support feedback loops with partners and participants.
3. Finance & Procurement – 20%
- Oversee the procurement process, ensuring value for money in selecting contractors.
- Work with finance colleagues to compile financial reporting for programme donors.
- Support teams in compiling requisitions in line with programme forecasts and budgets.
- Coordinate the tracking of donor and match funding requirements.
4. Other – 15%
- Provide surge support across Street Child’s programme portfolio.
- Coordinate staff, stakeholders, and donor visits.
- Represent Street Child appropriately both internally and externally.
- Carry out other reasonable requests within the broad remit of the role.
Person Specification:
Experience and Knowledge:
- Relevant field experience in development programming with local partnership respect.
- Successful delivery of team objectives through collaboration.
- Experience with data collection, cleaning, and analysis.
- Experience working in education, community engagement, and livelihoods programming.
- Strong knowledge of the Liberia and/or Sierra Leone context.
- Experience with donor reporting and budget management.
- German Language skills (preferred but not essential).
Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills.
- Strong coaching and capacity strengthening skills.
- Good time management, able to meet deadlines under pressure.
- Relationship management and communication skills.

Education / Qualifications:
- Degree or higher in International Development or related field.
- Relevant training in MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning).
