A fantastic opportunity to join the Cure Parkinson’s Research team – a medical research charity supporting research to slow, stop or reverse Parkinson’s. Working with the Director of Research, this role will have management of Cure Parkinson’s clinical portfolio. The charity supports a large treatment selection process that feeds new clinical trials seeking disease modification. This is an exciting time in Parkinson’s research and there is the opportunity to have a really meaningful impact by joining the Cure Parkinson’s team as we expand our funding schemes and initiate new ventures.
As our Clinical Research Manager, you will have a PhD in life sciences (an MD or MBSS would be advantageous) and significant experience in clinical trial development. A healthcare professional engaged in medical research you will be looking to move to the charity sector to influence the strategic direction of the Parkinson’s research field and drive forward the search for a cure. You must have a strong understanding of Parkinson’s, the biology associated with the condition, and the agents currently in development. You will require excellent organisational and communication skills as you will be representing the charity via stakeholder engagement. Working as an effective member of our Research Team you will be able to handle multiple tasks with precision simultaneously and be comfortable building relationships and providing support for researchers.

What the job involves
As our Senior People Services Manager, you’ll lead the day-to-day heartbeat of People Services and make sure every colleague has a smooth, supportive and high-quality experience throughout their time with us.
You’ll be the person who keeps things running brilliantly: setting the pace for operational delivery, supporting managers with confidence, and making sure our processes are simple, clear and compliant – ensuring delivery through an experienced and high-performing People Services Team. You’ll work closely with People & Culture, Finance, IT and leaders across the charity to drive a consistent, joined up service that helps people do their best work.
This is a hands-on leadership role partnering with People & Culture leadership and peers to drive the People Strategy and foster a high-performance, inclusive culture. You’ll shape how we deliver People Services, spotting ways to improve, simplify and modernise what we do. You’ll lead a team covering critical activity relating to all stages of the employee lifecycle, from onboarding, contracts, HR systems and data, payroll oversight, policies and employee relations, and you’ll be the operational authority and escalation point for complex or high-risk issues.
Some of the work you and your team will be getting involved in includes:
- Leading and developing the People Services & Payroll team so they have clarity, support and space to thrive.

What we want from you

The ideal candidate will bring:
- Strong HR operations experience at a senior level, with CIPD Level 5 or equivalent knowledge.

- Experience overseeing payroll operations and HR systems, with a practical understanding of data accuracy, GDPR and people metrics.

The Head of Trusts and Foundations plays a pivotal role in the delivery of this vision, leading on the significant growth of restricted and unrestricted funds through this income stream. You will line manage a Trusts & Foundations Manager and a Trusts & Foundations Officer, collaborating closely with them in order to drive success and deliver against target. You will be personally responsible for securing new high value multi-year relationships (six and seven figures) as well as stewarding a range of existing high value relationships. You will also play an important leadership role across the organisation, working with colleagues in all departments to ensure an efficient and effective approach that delivers for children and young people and youth workers and organisations across the capital.
What you will be doing
- Lead on the development and implementation of a successful trusts and foundations strategy that achieves £2.5m of restricted and unrestricted income by the end of 2026 and delivers growth from 2027.
- Offer inspirational leadership to the Trusts and Foundations Team, line managing a T&F manager and a T&F officer.
- Take overall responsibility for developing and managing a robus pipeline of trusts and foundations and statutory funders that enables London Youth to hit its income targets, coordinating the distribution of responsibilities across the team, including the implementation of a quarterly mailout.
- Work in close collaboration with appropriate teams across London Youth to ensure all applications and proposals produced by the team are compelling, accurate, produced to the highest possible standards, and submitted to deadline.
- Ensure contracts or MOUs are in place with all funders and that all conditions and reporting requirements are clear and met.
- Ensure all information is recorded in an accurate and timely manner on Salesforce, enabling you to track progress against monthly income targets and KPIs, and expertly steward and manage all relationships with funders.
- Lead on the development of the annual Trusts and Foundations budgets and the monthly review of management accounts for your area.
- Produce appropriate reports and presentations for team, directorate, senior team, committee, and board meetings.
- Prepresent the fundraising team in leadership team meetings and senior meetings as appropriate when required.
- Contribute to wider fundraising and communications led activities such as site visits, Lunch and Learn sessions, the London Youth Awards, and external networking opportunities.
- Ensure you and your team understands the external funding environment, spotting trends, identifying opportunities, and making informed strategic recommendations for how London Youth should be operating in such an environment.
What you bring to the role
Knowledge and Experience:
- Proven ability to lead and manage a trusts and foundations team and deliver growth through this income stream.
- Experience of successfully delivering six and seven figure funds.
- Proven ability to lead and collaborate with delivery, finance, policy, data and learning, and senior teams to develop applications and proposals.

We are seeking a dynamic and driven fundraiser to be our Trusts and Foundations Manager. The Sutton Trust is at an exciting point in our organisational journey, with a new Chairperson and ambitions to significantly grow our impact and fundraising as part of our 2030 strategy.
Over the past five years the impact of the Sutton Trust has increased, especially in our programme numbers, securing a relatively stable income of c.£6m over a number of years. In recent years this has grown to c.£7m, and our organisational strategy to 2030 will continue this fundraising trajectory to increase income to £12m. Trusts and foundations income currently accounts for c.37% of our fundraising, and we know there is considerable enthusiasm and opportunity in the grant-making world for building strategic partnerships with us.
Our fundraising approach will continue to focus on driving towards major gifts and strategic multi-year partnerships, leveraging a range of drivers to secure Trust, Foundation and Statutory support.
The Role and Team
As Trusts and Foundations Manager (maternity cover), you will be an experienced, proactive relationship manager and fundraiser. You will be confident in delivering high quality reporting and stewardship to a wide variety of Trusts, Foundations, Statutory and organisational donors, as well as proactively approaching funding prospects and preparing applications to secure funds.
We have strong relationships with a range of trusts and foundations, and over the fixed term contract period we are looking for a confident fundraiser to manage and support a portfolio of funders as cover for a maternity leave within the Development team.
The role will contribute to growing the portfolio of Trusts, Foundations, and organisational donors (predominantly at the five-figure level), while also providing strategic support on grant management of our major six-and-seven-figure Trust and Foundation partners. This will include compiling key reports and supporting the gathering and analysing programmatic data. You will work closely with colleagues across both the Development Department, including the Development Director, and the wider organisation.
Main duties
New Business
-
Undertake prospect research into trusts and foundations, statutory opportunities (contracts or grants), and organisational funders in collaboration with Trusts and Foundations colleagues, and other senior staff and senior volunteers. This includes identification, due diligence, qualification, and creating briefings and outreach plans.

Work with Trusts and Foundations colleagues to cultivate a prospect pool of potential donors, looking at lapsed supporters, the prospect pipeline, stakeholder network mapping through the Board and Trustees, as well as funders with an active interest in education / social mobility.

Submit compelling funding proposals and reports to mid-level trusts, foundations, statutory and organisational donors to secure income (predominately at the five-figure level) for the Trust. Work alongside other Development team and wider organisation members to ensure high-quality submissions.

Alongside team members, manage the shared Development inbox to ensure all enquiries are dealt with in a prompt, consistent, and friendly manner.

Follow all relevant policies and processes to ensure due diligence is completed for prospective donors and that income projections and plans for the portfolio are kept up to date.
Account Management and Development

Manage and grow a small portfolio of trusts, foundations, statutory supporters, and organisational donors, delivering impactful stewardship (e.g. impact reporting) while meeting all donor reporting requirements to maximise financial income and partnership longevity.

Support senior team members on strategic management of our major trust and foundation partners, including leading on compiling key impact reports, coordinating meetings, attending programme visits, event invites, writing targeted donor communications and reporting.

Work with the Head of Fundraising Operations to compile and analyse key programmatic data for use by the Development team in their grant reporting.

Be accountable for achieving agreed trusts and foundations income targets, looking for opportunities to grow funding and diversify income for this stream.

Ensure all record keeping and administration relating to trusts and foundations income is maintained, up-to-date, and processed in accordance with GDPR and Sutton Trust policies and procedures.
Fundraising Finance and Reporting

Act as an ambassador for the Trust with external audiences, delivering presentations and providing expertise as required.

Work with colleagues to deliver impactful events to cultivate prospects and steward partners, with a focus on experience for trust and foundation supporters and prospects.

Work with colleagues across Development and Finance to ensure accurate forecasting, income tracking and reporting for trusts and foundations income, through the Trust’s CRM (Salesforce), account management plans, and all relevant income pipeline documents.

Ensure you appropriately follow policies and procedures on due diligence, Salesforce and data management, account management, stewardship, and reporting.

Stay up to date with grant fundraising best practice, learning from senior members of the team, and keep abreast of developments and opportunities within the wider fundraising space.

Person Specification
We welcome applications from individuals who have:

Experience in successfully securing, managing, and developing Trust, Foundation, Statutory or organisational donor partnerships at four and five figure-level, from initial prospect research to securing income and ongoing grant management.

To develop and implement a communications strategy that supports the organisational expansion strategy as well as growth in the three key areas of school recruitment, volunteer recruitment and fundraising performance.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop audience specific communications strategies and work with departmental managers to deliver targeted campaigns to recruit volunteers, school partners and new funders.
- Produce high-quality written, visual and digital content translating our impactful work to be accessible, engaging and audience/channel specific.
- Develop close and supportive relationships with external ambassadors and other allies, in support of organisational communications work.
- Track engagement across media channels and email marketing, and produce monthly reports for leadership team showing activity
- Continue the development of our new website, including monitoring analytics.
- Support freelancers, interns and internal colleagues to design high quality video, social media, print and digital material
- Drive storytelling initiatives by sourcing and sharing case studies and impact stories that inspire donors and the wider public.
- Proactively identify communication opportunities as well as new relationships with external individuals and organisations.
- Manage an engaging newsletters distribution system to a range of key audiences.
- Continue to develop the quality of all external communications ensuring all materials are aligned with our brand guidelines, key messages, and core organisational strategy.

- Work with the Senior Leader Team to develop and implement our PR & media strategy.

Person Specification
- 3 years’ experience within a digital communication role
- Excellent copywriting skills with an ability to craft clear, engaging content for different audiences to tight deadlines
- Experience with digital advertising and promoted social media posts, analysing trends, reviewing efficacy, and adjusting campaigns in real time
- Good knowledge of the digital and social media landscape and emerging trends.
- The ability to simplify complex concepts into plain, compelling English.
- Proven experience working in an editorial capacity, developing compelling copy for online audiences, with a varied portfolio of written work
- Experience of digital content creation, commissioning and management
- Proficiency newsletter creation, working to tight deadlines, collaborating with other departments, and using mail clients
- Experience of managing suppliers, partners and contributors
- Familiarity with design software for creating digital assets, such as Canva
