Make a real difference to unpaid carers Are you passionate about supporting others and helping people navigate challenging circumstances? This is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving independent carers support charity that places unpaid carers at the heart of everything they do.

As a Carer's Caseworker, you will provide practical guidance, emotional support and advocacy to adult carers, ensuring they have access to the information, services and resources they need. Working as part of a dedicated and supportive team, you will empower carers to feel recognised, valued and supported throughout their caring journey.

About the role This varied and rewarding position combines frontline casework, advocacy, community engagement and partnership working. You will support unpaid carers through personalised assessments, tailored support plans and practical advice, while helping to raise awareness of carers' needs across the local community.

What you'll be doing:

Direct Support to Carers
  • Deliver carer assessments in line with the Care Act 2014 and develop personalised support plans
  • Support carers with applications for Carers Personal Budgets where eligible
  • Provide information, advice and guidance on carers' rights, welfare benefits, housing and local services
  • Offer emotional support and advocacy to carers facing complex challenges
  • Liaise with local authorities, NHS providers and voluntary sector organisations to coordinate effective support
  • Manage referrals and ensure appropriate follow-up action is taken
Outreach and Community Engagement
  • Proactively identify and engage unpaid carers, including those from underrepresented communities
  • Build positive relationships with healthcare professionals, community organisations and local partners
  • Raise awareness of unpaid carers and available support services
  • Contribute ideas and insight to help shape service development and future initiatives
Administration and Case Management
  • Maintain accurate records and case notes using internal systems and databases
  • Register new carers and ensure records remain up to date
  • Prepare case summaries and contribute to reports for managers, commissioners and funders
  • Ensure confidentiality, GDPR compliance and high standards of data management
Team Contribution
  • Share specialist knowledge and best practice with colleagues
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision and training opportunities
  • Contribute to a positive, supportive and solutions-focused culture
What we're looking for
  • Experience supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds with varying levels of need
  • Experience managing a caseload and maintaining detailed case records
  • Experience providing advice, guidance or support in a frontline, community or care setting
  • Exposure to health, social care or voluntary sector services
  • Experience supporting vulnerable individuals, including within mental health or wellbeing-focused environments
  • Strong communication, relationship-building and advocacy skills
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and database systems
  • Excellent written communication and report-writing ability
  • A proactive and solution-focused approach to supporting others
Knowledge and Understanding
  • Familiarity with the Care Act 2014 and its implications for carers
  • Understanding of welfare benefits, including PIP, Attendance Allowance and Carer's Allowance
  • Awareness of housing issues, safeguarding and equality legislation
  • Insight into the challenges faced by unpaid carers and the importance of support networks
About You You are warm, empathetic and approachable, with a genuine passion for supporting people. You thrive on building trusted relationships, are committed to inclusive practice and are motivated by the opportunity to create positive change in the lives of unpaid carers. Whether working independently or collaboratively, you bring professionalism, compassion and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality support.

A basic DBS check will be required as part of the recruitment process.

If you're ready to make a meaningful difference in the lives of unpaid carers and join a charity that truly values the impact of its people, we'd love to hear from you. Submit your CV today.

We want you to have every opportunity to demonstrate your skills, ability and potential; please contact us if you require any assistance or adjustment so that we can help with making the application process work for you.
