The charity manages seven depots across London, Suffolk, Merseyside and Hampshire and works with 16 network partners who operate a further 26 regional depots across the UK.
Over the next year our ambition is to rescue enough food nationally to provide nearly 200 million meals, turning an environmental problem into social good with measurable impact for people, planet, and the economy.
Job Purpose
Provide Executive Assistant support to senior executive leadership including Deputy CEO and Executive Director of Income Generation, and wider admin support to the Executive Leadership Team.
We require highly organised, self-reliant and a proactive Executive Assistant who works with high levels of autonomy and enjoys learning and develop.
Duties and Accountabilities
1. Support for the two executives includes:
- Executive Assistant to the Deputy CEO - ~50% of role
- Executive Assistant to Executive Director of Income Generation - ~40% of role
- Wider admin support to the Executive Leadership Team - ~10% of role
2. Support for the two executives includes:
- Strategic diary and time management – actively manages and sequences both executives’ calendars to protect focus time, align activity with strategic priorities, and minimise clashes.
- Scheduling and coordination – organise complex meetings and appointments, liaising confidently with internal stakeholders, external partners, donors, and senior contacts.
- End‑to‑end meeting support – plans and schedules meetings and events, prepares high‑quality agendas and materials, circulates pre‑reads, captures actions, and ensures timely follow‑up.
- Inbox oversight and triage – provides inbox management cover (e.g., during leave), prioritising messages, drafting responses, filtering requests, and ensuring executives receive only what requires their attention.
- Operational administration – maintains clear digital filing systems, documentation structures and record‑keeping practices to support continuity and ease of access.
- Stakeholder relationship management – builds strong, professional relationships with colleagues, clients, suppliers, and the broader support team, ensuring seamless coordination across teams.
- Project and research support – undertakes ad‑hoc research, prepares summaries, gathers information, and provides hands‑on support for projects led by the executives.
- Representation and support in meetings – attend meetings on behalf of the executives when required, ensuring effective notetaking, action capture and follow‑through.
- Cross‑team collaboration – supports the senior management team as required, including providing cover for other administrative or support colleagues during periods of absence.
3. Support to wider Executive Leadership team includes:
- Travel and logistics management - arranges travel, accommodation and itineraries, ensuring efficient, cost‑effective and well‑coordinated plans.
- Meeting and event preparation - prepares venues and resources for in‑person and virtual meetings, ensuring technology, materials and setups are ready in advance.
- Finance and administrative processing - manages purchase orders, invoices, expense claims and other routine administrative workflows accurately and promptly.
- Organisation-wide support - provides flexible, ad‑hoc support across the organisation as directed by the Head of the CEO Office or Governance Manager.
- Cover for the CEO’s EA - provides planned cover for the CEO’s Executive Assistant during their leave or regular non‑working day (every Friday), ensuring continuity of support.
We deliver this surplus food to charities and schools so they can provide healthy meals and help the most vulnerable in our society.

- Staff management of three direct reports and a wider team of finance and non-finance professionals
About You
- You will be CCAB qualified or equivalent
- Have operated at Director level in previous organisations leading financial operations and strategy
- Exposure to or understanding of working in an SME organisation with the ability to be ‘hands on’ where needed
- Previous experience in the charities, not-for-profit or similar sector is highly desirable.

Step Forward is seeking an experienced Therapeutic Service Lead to join our multi-disciplinary team supporting young people aged 11–25 with their mental health and emotional wellbeing.
Working closely with the CEO and Operations Manager, the postholder will help shape the strategic direction of the therapeutic service in line with organisational priorities. You will contribute to the smooth, safe, and effective delivery of the therapeutic service, ensuring it remains accessible, responsive, and relevant to local young people.
Key Responsibilities
· Be part of the Senior Management team alongside the CEO and Operations Manager and have a key role in the strategic direction of the Therapeutic service
· Co-ordinate the development and day-to-day management of the Therapeutic Service
· Support and line manage a small team including the Senior Counsellor and additional Counsellors & Wellbeing Workers
· Act as joint Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
· Work with the Senior Counsellor to help support honorary counsellors
· Manage a small caseload of clients, including assessments for newly referred young people
· Manage allocations of clients to staff and volunteers
· Ensure monitoring and evaluation systems capture the impact of our therapeutic interventions
About You
· A recognised qualification in Counselling or Psychotherapy
· Professional accreditation, or working towards it
· Minimum 5 years’ experience working with young people aged 11-25 years, including at least 3 years of providing post qualification 1:1 counselling support to young people in an organisational setting
· Experience as a team leader or as part of a management team
· Strong understanding of safeguarding principles and experience in managing safeguarding concerns
· A demonstrated commitment to supporting young people
· Confidence delivering evidence-based therapies across short-, medium-, and long-term interventions

Responsibilities include conducting needs and risk assessments, creating and reviewing SMART support plans, reducing unplanned hospital admissions, and encouraging engagement with networks and informal support systems.

As a Regional SEND Leader, you will lead the strategic delivery of the DfE’s Universal SEND Services programme across your region, enabling schools and colleges to embed inclusive practice and improve outcomes for learners with SEND. Working closely with national and regional partners, you will shape regional priorities, oversee professional networks, guide system level SEND development and champion the use of evidence based practice.

This role is offered on a secondment basis. This means the successful applicant will remain employed by their current organisation, and Whole School SEND (through nasen) will reimburse the employer for the time the individual spends undertaking Regional SEND Leader duties. The secondment fee of £550 per day is paid directly to the employing organisation, ensuring there is no financial loss to the school, trust or local authority releasing the colleague for this work.
The Regional SEND Leader will continue in their substantive role while contributing the equivalent of one day a week (40 days across the year) to Whole School SEND. This model enables leaders to bring current, real world expertise into the national programme while maintaining their ongoing responsibilities within their home organisation.

About Adolescent Health Study
The Adolescent Health Study (AHS) (Registered Charity Number 1213337) is an ambitious new UKRI-funded initiative to establish a prospective, longitudinal population study that will generate a globally leading open science data platform and research resource. AHS aims to recruit at least 100,000 young people aged eight to 18 years from across the UK and to follow their mental and physical health and wellbeing over at least 10 years. It plans to collect data through questions and measures; to obtain bio-samples for a wide range of genomic and other high-throughput assays; and to capture linked data relevant to health and wellbeing from participants’ health, education and other administrative records.
There will be a strong emphasis on engaging with and involving young people, schools, parents and other relevant stakeholders in the design and delivery of the study, as well as on including young people that represent as wide as possible a range of backgrounds, experiences and characteristics. AHS will focus on enabling a wide range of research, including studies of the critical biological and social developments that occur during the transition from childhood to adulthood and the determinants of both mental and physical health and wellbeing in adolescents and young adults.
Purpose of the post
The Engagement and Involvement Officer will play a central role in supporting meaningful engagement and involvement of young people, families, schools and other interest-holders in the process of designing, delivering and ensuring the best outputs from the Adolescent Health Study.
Primarily, the postholder will be responsible for the stewardship and coordination of the AHS Young People’s Advisory Group (YPAG). The post-holder will provide ongoing support to YPAG members to ensure their active participation in opportunities to inform and shape the work of AHS. This will include working closely with the adults in the YPAG members’ lives, including parents/carers, teachers and other relevant adults or professionals. The postholder will also be required to build positive working relationships with other organisations and institutions that work directly with young people. They will support the Engagement and Involvement Lead to develop mechanisms to reach wider and more diverse groups of young people to take part in engagement and involvement activities at AHS.
This is a role that requires confidence, autonomy, enthusiasm and skill. The post-holder will be a strong advocate for children’s rights, have a sound working knowledge and understanding of safeguarding practices, and demonstrate experience of co-ordinating youth advisory groups, youth councils or similar.
Main responsibilities
Coordination & facilitation
- Plan, organise, and deliver regular meetings, workshops, and consultation sessions with young people.
- Develop accessible, inclusive and engaging materials to support young people’s participation in activities and discussions.
