This role is all about helping Scripture Union communicate with clarity, creativity and purpose. Bringing our story to life through events and communications that help people connect with what God is doing through SU. Events and Communications Officer

(Salary £21,460 - £22,700 - Part Time 25 Hours a week)

- What you’ll do:

· Coordinate and deliver Scripture Union’s presence at key exhibitions, festivals and conferences across the year.

· Plan logistics, budgets, materials and timelines –and recruit, support and encourage staff and volunteers involved in events.

· Gather, shape and share people-focused stories of mission and impact across website, email, social media, audio and print.

· Support the planning and delivery of the Mission Sparks podcast, helping audiences connect with what God is doing through Scripture Union.

· Monitor, evaluate and report on event effectiveness, using insight to improve future activity and engagement.

Events and Communications Officer

· Experience planning, coordinating and delivering events or exhibitions with clear objectives and measurable outcomes.

· Strong writing skills and experience creating content across web, social media and email (and ideally audio/print too).

· Highly organised, proactive and relational — able to balance long-term planning with responsive storytelling.

· A committed Christian in sympathy with Scripture Union’s aims and ethos, actively involved in the mission of a local church.

Main purpose of the job: Providing targeted, specialised support to parents with at least one child under 5, but with a whole family approach. The post carries a high level of responsibility in ensuring that a quality service is offered to families through a team of trained volunteers.

About the role

Due to an expansion in our work to provide training and e-learning to raise awareness of unpaid carers and of the issues and challenges they face with a range of professionals, we are excited to recruit a Training and Learning Officer to lead our work in this area. The post holder will develop, maintain and deliver a suite of e-learning, and in person and online training.

About you

You’ll have knowledge and experience of designing, developing and delivering training. You’ll be experienced in conducting research and analysing data with an understanding of the issues impacting carers, and the systems in which they operate. You’ll be a strong communicator and be able to balance a diverse range of projects.

Reporting to the Bursar and working closely with the Executive Team, you will act as the senior finance professional across the group, providing both strategic leadership and operational oversight.

You will lead financial planning, reporting and governance across all three schools, supporting key strategic decisions including investment, estates development and long-term financial sustainability. The person

We are looking for a qualified accountant with strong technical grounding and proven experience operating in a senior finance role.

• Experience of leading finance within a complex, multi-entity or multi-site environment
• A track record of improving systems, processes and controls
• The ability to lead through change and bring teams with you
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the credibility to influence at senior level
• A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to balance strategy and delivery

Experience within education or the independent school sector would be beneficial, but is not essential.

We are now recruiting internally for a Finance & Business Planning Analyst, an essential role that ensures rigorous, accessible financial & business insight powers our organisational effectiveness work. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives on turning complex financial & operational information into clear, meaningful intelligence that strengthens organisational sustainability and impact. About the role

The Finance & Business Planning Analyst sits at the centre of the Effective Organisation function, providing the financial & operational intelligence that helps us understand how the organisation operates today and where improvements can make the greatest difference.
You’ll analyse performance data, cost drivers and resource use to help the team identify opportunities to simplify processes, strengthen consistency and support sustainable, evidence-based change. Your insight will help leaders understand options, trade-offs and long-term implications, and ensure recommendations are always financially grounded, responsible and aligned to the Society’s wider priorities.

Working closely with colleagues in Finance, business management, the OE taskforce and People, you’ll help us build a clear, coherent understanding of how we work, so we can design structures, processes and systems that are efficient, effective and future-ready.

What you’ll do

- Provide expert financial & business analysis to underpin organisational effectiveness work, including performance review, business planning and process evaluation.
- Work with the Organisational Effectiveness team to interpret operational data, understand cost drivers and assess organisational capacity and efficiency.
- Develop clear, accessible reporting that translates complex financial information into meaningful insights for leaders and colleagues.
- Build strong relationships across the Society to understand priorities, challenges and opportunities, using this knowledge to develop financial models and scenario analyses.
- Use financial data to identify efficiencies, inform decision-making and highlight opportunities for value for money.
- Produce high-quality, governed financial analysis that is accurate, timely and aligned to organisational priorities.
- Analyse workflows, resource use and financial impact to support efficiency reviews and future ways-of-working proposals.
- Provide modelling and analytical support for Effective Organisation and wider change initiatives.

About you

You’ll bring financial expertise, an analytical mindset and the confidence to translate complex information into clear, compelling insight that strengthens decision-making.
You’ll have:

- CCAB qualification or part-qualification (ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA) or equivalent experience.
- Experience analysing complex financial data and developing financial models and forecasts.
- Excellent communication skills, able to present financial insight for diverse audiences.
- Strong knowledge of budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Ability to work across teams and hierarchies.
- Understanding of the external financial environment, ideally within the third sector.
- Proactive problem-solving, critical thinking and comfort working in changing environments.
- Commitment to inclusion, collaboration, continuous improvement and personal development.
- Business degree or MBA, or equivalent qualification / experience in business administration would be desirable.
