The Research and Projects Assistant will help to deliver projects and research that aim to improve how environmental funding is coordinated and distributed.
Location: Working from home (in the UK) with occasional travel to London and other parts of the UK for team days and events.
Salary: £30,000 pro rata
Contract: Fixed Term Contract for one year, subject to a six-month probationary period.
Hours: 0.5 FTE/2.5 days a week (17.5 hours) to include Tuesday and ideally the remaining hours to be across Monday-Thursday. For any extended hours worked through event or travel time, time off in lieu (TOIL) will be provided.

About the role
The Research and Projects Assistant is a new role supporting EFN’s strategic projects and research, and would suit someone looking to build their experience in these areas. The post-holder will play a key role in helping to deliver projects and research that aim to improve how environmental funding is coordinated and distributed.
The role will involve supporting a range of projects across research, grantmaking practices, and digital tools/platforms. The exact mix of work will evolve over time, but is likely to include contributing to major research outputs (including EFN’s Where the Green Grants Went series), supporting the development of sector tools, and assisting with collaborative funding initiatives.
About you
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working with data and information, thinking creatively, and ensuring that high-quality projects are delivered efficiently. We’re looking for individuals who are highly organised, detail-oriented and proactive, with experience in research and a strong interest in environmental issues and/or philanthropy. This role involves supporting a range of projects, so being able to keep track of tasks and information will be important.

JOB PURPOSE
The role of the Policy and Public Affairs Manager is a high-impact role, central to designing and delivering Magic Breakfast’s national policy and public affairs strategy in England. The role holder will lead the development of evidence-based policy positions and work collaboratively to drive forward strategic, integrated and impactful advocacy campaigns to successfully influence decision-makers, policy change, and funding frameworks aligned with our key objectives. Specifically, you will also lead the design and implementation of our new workstream to expand school breakfast provision to secondary schools and early years settings, alongside our work to ensure the effective implementation of the Free Breakfast Club Programme.
More broadly, you will keep abreast of political developments relevant to Magic Breakfast - proactively identifying opportunities to respond, influence and shape the debate across the school food system and provide strategic, analytical and timely advice to the Senior Leadership Team.
Using your excellent communication skills, you will be able to translate complex policy into tailored and effective communications, policy briefings, positions and submissions, and will play a lead role in confidently engaging external stakeholders including UK Government Ministers, Parliamentarians, special advisers, officials and sector partners.

The Housing Independent Gender Violence Advocate (IGVA) will be embedded within borough housing teams to facilitate the dual working that will ensure that survivors’ safety and housing needs are met. This includes:

· Provision of specialist knowledge relating to DA for Housing Officers and Homelessness Teams to draw on
· Specialist support for survivors at the moment of crisis
· Provision of advocacy; supporting survivors to access safe accommodation
· Ongoing support from the IGVA from wider DA service, including access to group clinical supervision, casework management meetings, reflective practice sessions, one-to-one supervision from service manager
The Housing IGVA will work closely with victims of gender-based violence from the point of crisis, to provide high quality independent advocacy and support to survivors of gender-based violence at the highest risk and their children. The role will be part of increasing the ability of partner agencies to recognise, reject and respond appropriately and safely to all forms of gender-based violence (including domestic violence, sexual, financial and emotional abuse, female genital mutilation, forced marriage and honour-based violence).
The job involves working within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership protocols and procedures that prioritise the safety of survivors. The job involves informing survivors of the full range of civil, criminal, housing and practical options that might increase their safety. The post holder will empower survivors by providing them with emotional, practical and personal welfare support especially around complex housing needs.
The job involves ensuring that women are provided with a safe, supportive and welcoming environment, enabling them to access their rights, make decisions and increase their life options.
