This role at the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) is a key role within the finance team and will help to guide the Senior Team through the provision and ownership of insightful management information.
Job Purpose
Preparing monthly management accounts and quarterly VAT returns for RCVS (the professional membership organisation or ‘College’) in accordance with relevant RCVS policies and UK legislation including UK GAAP and the Charities SORP.
Key Responsibilities
- To prepare accurate monthly cost centre and college wide management accounts for RCVS to an agreed timetable for varying audiences, including variance analysis, with appropriate relevant commentary.
- To review and discuss the cost centre management accounts with the Heads of Department throughout the year and to enhance reporting and understanding
- To prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and review them working with the Transactional Finance Lead.
- To work with the Head of Finance (HoF) preparing budgets, forecasts, financial monitoring and commentary
- To manage departmental cost allocations
- To maintain the chart of accounts and data integrity of the accounting system including deleting and archiving historic financial data as appropriate
- Provide support to the wider finance team
- Liaise with the Transactional Finance Lead in the monitoring of the monthly finance timetable and progression of tasks whilst raising any concerns with the HoF
- Complete and submit quarterly VAT returns (following HoF review) for RCVS in accordance with relevant RCVS policies and UK legislation.
- To support the preparation of the annual financial accounts and supporting workings, analysis and statements and to liaise as appropriate, with the auditors.
- To act as the Finance Risk Champion and to maintain the finance risk register
- To maintain the finance contract register
- To support an approach of continuous improvement to finance systems and processes.
- Monitor the application of the financial controls and to flag any compliance issues or risks
- To provide ad hoc support to the payroll function in the event of team member absence, to ensure continuity of critical payroll operations
Qualifications
- Educated to Degree level
- Finalist or fully qualified with a recognised accountancy qualification (ACA, CIMA, ACCA)
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Strong background in management accounts
- Previous experience of preparing VAT returns and an understanding of partial-VAT claims.
- Previous experience of preparing financial statements under the Charities SORP
- Knowledge of SAGE200 Professional accountancy software (desired)
- Previous experience of working within the Not-for-Profit Sector
- Previous experience of working within a Regulator, Royal College or Professional Membership body (desirable)
- To demonstrate confidence and clarity when engaging with colleagues across the organisation
- Intermediate excel skills

We are looking for a self-motivated and results driven Head of Finance and Administration to join World Horse Welfare in a newly created role reporting to the Director of Finance, IT & Administration, line managing three members of the Finance and Administration team.
In this vital role, you will ensure strong financial controls across all areas of the charity, manage income and expenditure, and lead on statutory accounts preparation, payroll, VAT, pensions, and tax compliance. As a key business partner, you will work closely with budget holders of all levels, providing data and analysis on the performance of charity operations, including the four Visitor Centres, to ensure excellent financial foresight and planning, as well as enabling the senior leadership team to make timely strategic decisions. You’ll also oversee governance responsibilities such as annual statutory filings, insurance, fleet management and reporting on the annual carbon footprint.
We are looking for a qualified accountant who has experience of charity finance at a similar level, an in depth understanding of charity VAT and experience running in-house payroll processes. You will have the ability to explain financial information and produce financial reports for a wide variety of audiences. High level of IT skills particularly around data manipulation and Microsoft Excel is essential. As a line manager to three members of staff, you’ll have previous experience in managing a team in a supportive and effective manner. Experience of a retail environment, familiarity with fundraising methods and regulations, and experience of finance system implementation is highly desirable.
The role is based in Norfolk and is currently a hybrid split of 2 days in our head office in Snetterton and 3 days at home. You may be required to attend events around the UK so the ability to travel occasionally is necessary.

We're looking for a Senior Campaigns and Policy Manager who will be responsible for engaging with political leaders, the media, our supporters and the wider public. In this role you'll lead the development and delivery of our policy and campaigning work, raising awareness of key issues, building strategic relationships, and advocating for systems change that improves animal welfare and supports the bond between pets and their people.
You will build and lead a small but far-reaching team to amplify Woodgreen's voice and lead evidence-based advocacy campaigns to drive systemic change in areas such as responsible pet ownership, animal welfare legislation, and improving pet welfare. You'll represent Woodgreen externally, with the media, in government consultations, parliamentary groups, sector forums, and external networks to raise our profile and policy positions.
To be successful in this role you will need;
- Extensive experience building and maintaining strategic relationships.
- A proven track record in campaigning, policy development, advocacy or public affairs, ideally within the charity, animal welfare, or social policy sectors.
- Substantial experience and confidence with public speaking for a variety of audiences.
- Experience managing a team or leading cross-organisational advocacy or campaigns activities and working collaboratively with external partners.
- The ability to lead, motivate and support diverse projects with a range of different participants.
- An interest in animal welfare and empathy for the complex challenges facing pet owners.
This is a full-time, permanent opportunity, working 37.5 hours per week on a hybrid basis with the expectation that the successful applicant will work from our Godmanchester site for approximately 2 days per week dependent on business need (although the frequency of this is negotiable).
The starting salary for this position is £45,511 to £50,568 per annum, depending on experience. This will be complemented by;

Membership is one of the key strategic priorities to achieve unrestricted income over the next five years, and in this role, you’ll be overseeing recruitment, retention and managing attrition of members, understanding our members and creating relevant offers and experiences. The time spent on each area be approximately, membership 60%, IG 30% and legacies 10%.

Reporting to the Head of Individual Giving, you’ll lead a small, dedicated team to deliver compelling campaigns and stewardship communications across multiple channels – including direct mail, email and phone.
You’ll be responsible for managing a wide range of donor development activities. These include planning and delivering cash and raffle appeals, and driving cross-sell initiatives such as converting one-off cash donors into regular givers. Your team will also be key to delivering projects such as Gift Aid stewardship, regular giving upgrades, and reactivation efforts.
A central part of the role will be managing the production and distribution of our supporter communications. You’ll collaborate closely with colleagues across the organisation and external agencies to ensure we provide a consistently excellent experience for our supporters, while maximising income and long-term engagement.
You’ll bring strategic thinking, creativity and a strong results focus to shape and grow our donor retention and development efforts, ultimately helping us raise more funds to support the pets and people who rely on our services.
Key Responsibilities

Work with the Head of Individual Giving to develop and deliver a strategic business plan and budget for Donor Development, including milestones, KPIs and income targets.

Lead a wide portfolio of multichannel campaigns with a focus on cash and raffle appeals, and wider supporter communications (including RG upgrades/conversions and Gift Aid).

Manage stewardship activities, including ‘thank you’ and update communications.

Collaborate with your Direct Marketing Manager colleagues in the Individual Giving team to improve supporter engagement and retention, including enhancing regular giving products and materials.

Ensure all activity aligns with Blue Cross brand guidelines and values.

Build strong internal and external relationships to deliver effective, insight-driven campaigns.

Champion continuous improvement by applying best practice to campaign planning, delivery and analysis.

Line-manage the Donor Development Officer and Assistant, supporting their performance, goals and development.

Monitor and control income and expenditure, providing regular budget forecasts.

We’re looking to recruit a Supporter Engagement Manager on a fixed term basis to join our Individual Marketing and Legacies team and help shape a positive and sustainable future for our planet. · Demonstrable fundraising or marketing experience.

· Knowledge of fundraising regulation including, telephone regulation, PCIDSS, UK Charity Law, Gambling Commission and Data Protection legislation and policy.
· Print and production knowledge.

· The ability to work with and manage external service providers in a direct marketing context.
