The Head of People & Culture plays a pivotal role in shaping and delivering Turn2us’s people strategy. Working closely with the Director of People, Culture and Governance, the postholder leads a compassionate, forward-thinking team that champions inclusion, wellbeing and belonging across the organisation. About you

The Head of People & Culture must demonstrate strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire collaboration, compassion and accountability across multiple projects and teams. Excellent communication and influencing skills are vital, along with the capacity to balance strategic priorities with hands-on delivery in a fast-paced, evolving environment. The successful candidate will bring proven experience in managing employee relations, driving cultural and organisational change, and embedding equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging across all people practices. They should be skilled in using HR systems and data to inform decisions and deliver measurable outcomes. Experience of leading complex, cross-organisational initiatives and a commitment to Turn2us’s mission of financial security for all are essential We offer flexible working patterns, both in terms of hours and remote working. The Culture and Operations Director (COD) ensures Frontline is a high-performing, well-governed charity with a strong culture of freedom and responsibility - a place people can do their best work to achieve Frontline’s mission.

They have strategic responsibility for charity-wide planning to ensure Frontline’s operational functions, effectively support teams to navigate challenges whilst maximising new opportunities. The successful candidate will join Frontline at a pivotal moment and play a key role in driving the next exciting step of our growth.

The COD will ensure high-quality operational support is available to all teams. Working closely with Frontline’s Leadership Group (Heads and Directors), to make sure that the appropriate and timely information, tools and guidance (e.g. HR, IT and finance) are available to managers and teams as needed. This includes working alongside other members of SLT, to:

• Confidently support Frontline through a period of growth and structural change
• Embody the culture of freedom and responsibility, leading by example, and implementing strategies which improve efficiency and quality
• Maintain Executive oversight of Frontline’s finances, working  with Head of Finance and Finance Audit and Risk Committee (FARC) Chair to ensure budgeting and financial decision-making is robust and strategic, to support the ongoing stability of the charity
• Maintain clear communication across teams, ensuring a connected and informed workforce who collaborate effectively. Oversee the success of key events such as annual all-staff away days, monthly gatherings and leadership stocktakes
• Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders including Frontline trustees, partner organisations and the Department for Education (DfE)
• Effectively lead teams to maintain Frontline's strong track-record of meeting legal/regulatory requirements, to minimise risk to the charity

Key Responsibilities

The COD will lead teams delivering on operational priorities in line with freedom and responsibility, to ensure we remain high performing:

Change management:

• Lead the coordination and project-management of an organisation-wide restructure, ensuing the charity is well-positioned to deliver on contractual obligations whilst diversifying to further amplify our impact and that teams are kept well-informed and feed into structural changes
• Support Frontline teams to work  collaboratively and deliver plans to broaden the scope of Frontline's work, extending activity beyond current areas of focus whilst maintaining a strong, shard commitment to Freedom and Responsibility.
• Develop and adhere to tracking and monitoring systems ensuring annual priorities remain on track to achieve Frontline's mission and long-term strategy.

People and Culture:

• Manage the Head of People to identify new and creative ways to further strengthen and embed our culture and grow personal accountability
• Support the Head of People to ensure excellent HR administration, support and use of data (e.g. staff turnover, sickness levels and performance reporting) to inform future planning and decision-making
• Ensure the team design and deliver high-quality staff induction and training which support staff to thrive (e.g. personal leadership, managing effectively and radical candour)
• Maintain awareness of trends and developing technologies to support efficiencies, e.g approaches to recruitment and support to managers.

Finance and Governance:

• Manage Head of Finance and Compliance to ensure sound budget management (£25m annually), financial controls and clear reporting mechanisms are in place
• Work with the Finance team to ensure FARC and the board have the necessary information and confidence in the financial leadership of Frontline.

Charity Quality and Efficiency:

• Manage and support IT and System leads across Frontline, ensuring they have the resources and compliance mechanisms to ensure robust systems are in place.
• Support Contract Governance teams to negotiate and implement significant government contracts, ensuring outcomes are achievable and effective governance and commercially sound contracts are in place.

Independent Age is the national charity working towards ending financial hardship in later life. 

Our Helpline and expert advisers offer free information and advice to older people without enough money to live on, while our external training equips professionals with the information they need to support older people on low incomes. You will be comfortable using data, insight and evidence to drive decision-making and have a track record of stakeholder engagement and identifying opportunities for innovation and growth. 

You will also bring experience of impact measurement, evaluation, quality assurance or performance frameworks, with the ability to use evidence to demonstrate value and improve services. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, alongside the confidence to influence senior stakeholders and work across organisational boundaries. An understanding of the needs of older people, the wider ageing sector and the role that data, learning and collaboration play in delivering social impact would be advantageous.

You will have led significant culture or organisational transformation and understand how to move beyond strategies and frameworks to create sustainable change in behaviours, leadership and everyday experience.

You may come from social care, another large charity or a different values-led and people-intensive environment. What matters is that you understand the realities of leading culture change across a complex, geographically dispersed workforce and can adapt your approach to very different people, communities and professional groups.

You will bring strong strategic People expertise and a sound understanding of contemporary people practice and employment law, but your experience and interests will extend considerably beyond operational HR.

You will be an engaging and credible Executive leader, able to influence and constructively challenge colleagues, Trustees and senior leaders while also being comfortable spending time with frontline colleagues and the people we support.

We are seeking a Head of Growth to lead the delivery of United Learning’s continued growth as an organisation, transforming education in more communities and benefiting more children and young people across England.

You will be responsible and accountable for all aspects of growth strategy delivery and for ensuring positive outcomes for new joining schools (pupils, staff, parents and wider communities) and for the organisation as a whole. You will work with a team of specialist colleagues across United Learning’s central teams – school improvement, finance, HR, technology – to ensure that robust plans are in place throughout the process, ensuring that each school has the support it needs to thrive as part of the Group.

You will ensure that schools have a positive experience at all stages, from the point of their first contact with United Learning through to joining the organisation and beyond. You will often be the first point of contact, explaining to school leaders and governors the benefits of being part of United Learning and what to expect throughout the process.

You will also oversee implementation of United Learning’s strategy for growing local ‘clusters’ of schools, enabling schools to benefit from meaningful local educational collaboration and from high quality and efficient support services that represent excellent value for money.

We are seeking a talented Director of Programme Delivery and Operations (maternity cover), fully committed to our widening participation cause, to join the Senior Leadership Team in a pivotal role for a growing and ambitious charity. 

You will have responsibility for ensuring we are providing high quality programme delivery to young people across our centre network, that are centres are functioning effectively, and that targets are monitored and met. Location

The role would be based at one of our IntoUniversity centres in Birmingham, Bristol, Coventry, Leeds, London, Manchester or Nottingham, with regular travel across the network and to our Head Office in London. 

Salary

£62,500 (Plus additional London contribution of £2,800 for London-based candidates). Pro rata for part-time candidate.

The Head of Operations will provide strategic leadership and oversight of HEY Smile Foundation’s governance arrangements, organisational systems and infrastructure, human resources and culture, and buildings and facilities. The role will ensure Smile has the people, processes, controls and resources to deliver its purpose reliably and respond confidently to future opportunities. Working closely with the CEO and senior leadership team, the postholder will translate organisational strategy into a clear operational plan, strengthen accountability and lead improvements across the charity. They will provide the CEO and trustees with timely information, assurance and practical recommendations on operational performance, capacity and risk.

This is a senior leadership role combining strategic oversight with the ability to secure delivery through colleagues, managers and specialist providers. The postholder will establish clear responsibilities, standards and reporting, intervening directly where necessary and building capacity so that routine delivery does not depend on the CEO.

A little bit about the role

Contract: Full Time, Fixed Term (6 months) 

Salary: £29,151.91 (£32,727.26 if based in London/receiving London Office Allowance) plus competitive pension 
 

Location: Flexible, hybrid. If you are based in London or receiving London Office Allowance you are required to attend the London office twice a week. Key Responsibilities

Recruitment

• Coordinate recruitment activity across the organisation, ensuring vacancies are advertised effectively on relevant platforms and within agreed timescales.
• Manage recruitment administration, including scheduling interviews, coordinating assessment activities and maintaining accurate recruitment records and trackers.
• Act as a key point of contact for candidates and hiring managers throughout the recruitment process, delivering a positive and inclusive experience.

Onboarding

• Support the People Officer in coordinating onboarding activities for new starters, ensuring a smooth and welcoming transition into the organisation.

• Coordinate induction schedules, meetings and introductory sessions with managers and key stakeholders.

Administration

• Provide high-quality administrative support across the employee lifecycle, maintaining accurate employee records and HR systems.
• Act as a first point of contact for routine People Team queries, providing timely responses and escalating where appropriate.
• Provide administrative support to People Team projects and initiatives as required.

Dan has previously worked as an economist in the Treasury, at the Resolution Foundation and at the Joseph Rowntree foundation, focusing on improving living standards for all, particularly low- and middle-income families who faced stagnating economic conditions in recent decades.
