About the Role

We’re looking for a strategic, creative and proactive public affairs professional to lead our influencing work on ageism and inequalities, including our campaign for a Commissioner for Older People and Ageing; the development of an ageing society strategy; and work to address inequalities in experiences of ageing and support those groups who need it most .

In this role, you’ll shape and deliver an ambitious communications and influencing strategy that raises the profile of our policy issues in parliament and the media and builds support for our policy solutions among national and local government and wider sector leaders.

Working closely with colleagues in the ageism, inequalities and comms teams, you’ll design and deliver impactful communications activity across the channels most likely to increase our influence – from direct engagement and events to media, marketing and social content.

Central to the role will be supporting policy analysis and developing our national policy asks, drafting briefings and consultation submissions, and identifying opportunities to influence through monitoring the external landscape.

You’ll also lead the development of an effective stakeholder engagement plan, driving engagement across government departments, parliament, and other influential stakeholders.

You’ll bring strong experience of working with government and parliament, and a track record of delivering effective policy, campaigning or public affairs activity. A confident communicator, you’re able to translate complex research and policy issues into compelling, accessible messages and present them persuasively to a range of audiences.

Highly organised and comfortable managing multiple priorities, you’ll combine strategic thinking with creativity and a proactive approach to spotting opportunities. You’ll have excellent relationship‑building skills, acting with diplomacy and credibility when engaging with senior stakeholders.

You’ll enjoy working both independently and as part of a small, supportive team, and you’ll be willing to work flexibly when needed to support key events or urgent issues.

The Volunteer and Events Manager will develop and implement a volunteer strategy and annual RLSS UK plan of events, for all Directorates, which evolves to include opportunities as they arise. KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead a professional volunteer and events function ensuring supply and demand needs are met across RLSS UK and supporting all teams to embed a consistent and coordinated approach
• To develop, implement and oversee the delivery of the volunteer strategy
• To develop and implement effective strategies, polices and processes to engage and retain volunteers and ensure a high-quality volunteer experience at all stages of the volunteer cycle
• To develop and implement effective event management strategies, policies and processes incorporating all health and safety requirements
• To lead and continuously improve our support to volunteers across the UK and Ireland
• Develop, implement and review an innovative volunteer recognition and reward offer
• To integrate an increasing number of volunteers into RLSS UK’s initiatives and activities, enhancing their experience and maximising their impact regardless of geography and circumstance

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential Relevant Experience, Skills and/or Aptitudes

• Approximately 7+ years’ experience in a volunteer management role
• Approximately 5+ years' experience in a events management role
• Experience of working at a manager level ideally in a membership organisation
• Demonstrable experience of strong project management
• Demonstrable experience in the development and implementation of impactful volunteer engagement strategies
• Demonstrable expertise in defining and driving strategies to achieve step changes in engagement

The Operations Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient and compliant delivery of the College’s operational services, including estates and facilities, transport, health and safety, sustainability and contracted services. 

Role Responsibilities: 

Estates and Facilities management  

• Manage and monitor contracts for building and grounds maintenance, cleaning, hygiene, waste management and energy supply, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and agreed service levels. 

• Lead procurement processes for operational contracts, including tendering, evaluation, renewal and performance monitoring, ensuring value for money and strong contractor relationships. 

• Develop and maintain a rolling programme of planned and reactive maintenance, site inspections and condition surveys to ensure the estate is safe, accessible and fit for purpose. 

• Ensure full compliance with all relevant legal, regulatory and statutory requirements relating to property and facilities. 

Transport 

• Manage the College’s transport fleet in line with Community Transport Association requirements. 

• Ensure all vehicles are legally compliant, well maintained and efficiently utilised. 

• Ensure drivers are appropriately authorised, trained and compliant with statutory and College requirements. 

Health and Safety 

• Act as the operational lead for health and safety across the College. 

• Maintain and regularly review health and safety policies, procedures, risk assessments and compliance documentation. 

• Work collaboratively with the Health and Safety Coordinator to deliver training, guidance and support to staff. 

• Ensure statutory inspections and testing (including fire safety, water quality and electrical safety) are completed and recorded. 

Sustainability 

• Monitor energy consumption and implement initiatives to reduce usage and improve environmental sustainability. 

• Ensure waste management and disposal processes meet environmental legislation and promote recycling and responsible resource use. 

Leadership 

• Line manage the operations team, including estates, transport and health and safety staff.

• Manage operational budgets and contribute to financial planning and cost control. 

• Contribute to College-wide planning and improvement initiatives through collaborative working with senior leaders and managers.

For over a century we’ve been helping former service personnel deal with issues like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety and depression. The Advisory Panel is a meeting of the four Council’s committees (Companies, Education, Registration, and Standards) in plenary session. They are established by statute for the purpose of giving advice and assistance to Council (whether or not in response to a request from them) on:

• matters relating to business registrants other than matters required by the Opticians Act to be referred to the Investigation Committee, the Registration Appeals, Committee or the Fitness to Practise Committee;
• matters relating to optical training, education, and assessment;
• matters relating to registration, other than matters required by the Opticians Act to be considered by the Registration Appeals Committee; and
• matters relating to the standards of conduct and performance expected of registrants or those seeking admission to the register.

Time Commitment and Remuneration

This role is part time with a commitment of approximately 2-3 days per year, including time spent preparing for meetings.  Meetings will usually take place via MS Teams but may on occasion be held at the GOC Offices in London or other suitable venues.

Members are paid up to £185 per meeting. This is taxable and subject to National Insurance (NI) contributions. This is in line with our member fees policy and member fee schedule.

The Royal Foundation is seeking an exceptional Delivery Manager (Policy) to play a key project management role in coordinating all of United for Wildlife’s influencing and engagement priorities with policymakers.

The Delivery Manager (Policy) is a vital role that will work closely with colleagues across the programme as we deliver ambitious nature conservation initiatives. The Delivery Manager (Policy) is line-managed by the Associate Director (Policy) with accountability to the Programme Manager for adherence to organisational delivery standards, reporting, and risk management.
They will be based within the core United for Wildlife team but will work closely with other Foundation teams, Kensington Palace, and external delivery partners.

The role will be varied and wide-ranging, working with other project team members to determine project needs and key deliverables.

Core responsibilities: 

· Managing preparation of policy meetings, papers, agendas, follow-up.

· Coordinating engagement with governments and international organisations, focusing on signatories to the 2014 London Declaration and subsequent policy statements, including communications, updates, planning meetings.

· Supporting policymakers and the TRF team to develop strategic policy initiatives that are clear and implementable.

· Managing delivery of strategic policy initiatives.

General responsibilities will include:

· Establishing and overseeing the project management processes required to ensure effective delivery of projects within specific strategic areas for our policy engagement work.

· Build and maintain relationships with appropriate internal and external stakeholders, and support the day-to-day management of the stakeholder ecosystem.

About the role

This is a key Executive Leadership Team role, reporting to the Chief Executive. You will lead our Services Directorate and work closely with trustees and fellow directors to shape strategy, strengthen performance and ensure we can clearly evidence the difference we make.

Our services support people across the full life cycle of cardiomyopathy, from diagnosis through long term management and, where needed, palliative and end of life care. Your role will be to ensure that support is joined up, high quality, clinically safe and responsive to changing emotional, practical and clinical needs.

You will lead three managers across community engagement, wellbeing and nurse services. Your focus will be on building a confident, accountable and high performing leadership team with clear standards around quality, safeguarding and measurable outcomes.

The Policy and Campaigns Manager leads ADUK in championing reforms that pave the way for better access for all disabled people partnered with a highly trained assistance dog. Through dynamic campaigns and impactful initiatives, this role is pivotal to how ADUK amplifies the voices of those whose lives are transformed by these life changing dogs, ensuring that their rights are protected for years to come.

Key Responsibilities

• In partnership with the Executive Director (ED), continue to develop a compelling case for taking a standards-based approach to the training and welfare of assistance dogs.
• Gather, analyse and apply robust evidence to strengthen ADUK’s credibility, influence and voice on key policy and campaigning issues.
• Work with the ED to identify and progress opportunities for ADUK and its members to engage with policymakers, regulators and other decision-makers, and to support positive policy change.
• Develop and deliver written and in-person reports and briefings for different audiences, including politicians, policy officials, and other decision-makers.
• Collaborate with the ED and Head of Education and Allyship to develop relationships with key stakeholders.
• Lead, manage and convene the ADUK Advisory Panel, ensuring it operates effectively and informs ADUK’s policy and campaigning work.
•  Monitor legislation and policy developments relevant to assistance dogs and dog welfare and communicate these as appropriate to members.
• Support the ED with the delivery of ADUK’s policy function, including the preparation of policy statements, briefing papers, media responses, and submissions to consultations and inquiries.
• Provide informed policy advice to the ED on priority issues affecting ADUK and its members.
• Represent ADUK externally, articulating its policy positions at meetings, events and forums, where appropriate.

About Adolescent Health Study

The Adolescent Health Study (AHS) is an ambitious new UKRI-funded initiative to establish a prospective, longitudinal population study that will generate a globally leading open science data platform and research resource. AHS aims to recruit at least 100,000 young people from across the UK and to follow their mental and physical health and wellbeing over at least 10 years. It plans to collect data through questions and measures; to obtain bio-samples for a wide range of genomic and other high-throughput assays; and to capture linked data relevant to health and wellbeing from participants’ health, education and other administrative records. There will be a strong emphasis on engaging with and involving young people, schools, parents and other relevant stakeholders in the design and delivery of the study, as well as on including young people that represent as wide as possible a range of backgrounds, experiences and characteristics. AHS will focus on enabling a wide range of research, including studies of the critical biological and social developments that occur during the transition from childhood to adulthood and the determinants of both mental and physical health and wellbeing in adolescents and young adults.

Purpose of the post

The Study Delivery and Governance Lead will play a central role in ensuring AHS meets the highest ethical, governance and regulatory standards. The post holder will lead the development, submission and oversight of the AHS Research Tissue Bank application, coordinate ethical approvals and ongoing amendments, and provide governance leadership to support study development and delivery.

They will also oversee elements of study set up and delivery, supporting the development of piloting tools and protocols, and addressing operational and logistical considerations necessary for successful delivery. They will line‑manage Research Officers and Senior Research Officers, contributing to a cohesive, high‑functioning team.

Main responsibilities

Research Governance

• Lead the full process of developing, drafting, and submitting the AHS Research Tissue Bank (RTB) application.
• Manage ongoing approvals, amendments, renewals and reporting obligations to Research Ethics Committees, the Health Research Authority, the Confidentiality Advisory Group and other regulatory bodies.
• Develop, implement and maintain governance frameworks, SOPs and quality assurance processes required for RTB operation, keeping abreast of developments in the regulatory landscape.
• Maintain accurate documentation, version control and quality‑assurance procedures relating to ethics and regulatory submissions.
• Act as key point of contact for research governance‑related queries from internal and external stakeholders.

Study Development & Planning

• Work closely with the Senior Programme Manager to contribute to the design and refinement of study protocols, piloting phases and operational plans.
• Lead the planning and delivery of specific study workstreams, as required, defining milestones, tracking progress, and identifying interdependencies as the study develops.
• Coordinate cross‑team activity involving research, data, operations and engagement teams to ensure study components are integrated and delivered effectively.

Project Management & Coordination

• Develop and maintain detailed project plans for governance and study‑delivery workstreams as required, ensuring roadmaps are accurate, realistic and kept up to date.
• Identify, track and mitigate risks related to both governance and delivery, escalating as appropriate and working collaboratively to resolve issues.
• Prepare reports and briefings for AHS governance structures (e.g., AHS Executive, Board of Trustees, Scientific Advisory Board).

Team Leadership & Line Management

• Provide mentoring and day‑to‑day guidance on governance‑related queries, ethics submissions and documentation development.
• Line manage selected staff within the study team, supporting workload planning, professional development and quality assurance.
• Foster effective team working across research, operational and scientific colleagues.

Stakeholder Management

• Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams including scientific leads, operational delivery, data management and engagement teams.
• Represent AHS with external partners related to governance, regulatory support, tissue banking and operational delivery.
• Work with the engagement team to ensure young people are involved in all elements of the study development and delivery.

Knowledge, skills and experience

Essential criteria

• Extensive experience in research governance, NHS research ethics management, clinical research management or equivalent.
• Demonstrable experience drafting protocols, participant documents and regulatory submissions.
• Strong understanding of ethical and regulatory frameworks including the Human Tissue Act, UK GDPR, and NHS research ethics processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into clear and actionable guidance for colleagues.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with experience managing competing priorities.
• Experience in risk identification and mitigation within research programmes.
• Educated to degree level (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field.
• Experience line managing or supervising staff.

Desirable criteria

• Experience with biobanking, Research Tissue Bank applications or biosample governance.
• Experience with longitudinal population studies or large multi‑site research programmes.
• Understanding of data‑linkage governance and consent processes.
