Job Summary - Senior Research Officer

We are seeking a confident and organised Senior Research Officer to join our small but ambitious Research Team. This is a hands-on role with real scope to contribute to how we fund and manage research, and to make a genuine difference to a programme that's helping to save lives.
 

The Senior Research Officer will lead the delivery of our grant funding processes from end to end - managing application rounds, overseeing the active portfolio, coordinating our scientific committees, supporting our research events and leading our approach to patient and public involvement in research. Working in a small, specialist team means you'll also have real scope to contribute ideas, help improve how we do things, and play a meaningful part in the development of the research programme beyond the day-to-day.

Main Purpose and Scope of the Job:

The focus of this role is on reduction of risk and minimising impact of domestic abuse by providing support, advice and assistance to adults and any children living within Stop Domestic Abuse’s dispersed accommodation who have experienced or are at risk of domestic abuse.

Dispersed accommodation is safe, self-contained accommodation with a similar level of specialist domestic abuse support as provided within our refuges but which may be more suitable for victims-survivors who are unable to stay in a refuge with communal spaces, and/or where peer support from other residents may not be appropriate. This may include: women with male children over 16, male victims-survivors, including men with children, LGBTQ+ victims-survivors, older adults, victims-survivors with disabilities, victims-survivors facing multiple disadvantages and victims-survivors with pets

To provide safety planning, support, advice, and assistance all adults, children those living within dispersed accommodation.  

The post-holder will work to empower and support all victims and survivors of domestic abuse to make positive choices.

To participate in the delivery of the on-call out of hours on a rota basis.

Job Sumnmary for Director of Charitable Impact

As the Executive Director of Charitable Impact at Bowel Cancer UK, you will play a pivotal role in driving forward our mission: ensuring that everyone with bowel cancer is diagnosed at the earliest stages, receives the best possible care and that more people survive the disease and thrive beyond their diagnosis.

You will lead the charity’s research programmes, policy and influencing, patient services, healthcare professional education, and health information functions. You will ensure these programmes deliver measurable impact on early diagnosis, equity of access, and better outcomes for people with bowel cancer, particularly focusing on reducing health inequalities and addressing the growing incidence of bowel cancer in people under 50.

Working closely with the Strategy & Insight unit, you will embed robust evaluation and evidence into all our work and lead the development of new patient-facing services and digital innovations – including the use of AI – to expand our reach and improve outcomes.

The Finance Lead has a crucial role in assisting the Head of Finance with ensuring the effective running of the Finance department, taking responsibility for the management and oversight of the day to day operations of the Finance function of the Charity and its trading subsidiary.

Key responsibilities include:
• Managing the bank relationships including bank accounts and cash positions to ensure accuracy within the CRM and finance system.

• Maintaining the charity’s investment positions and accurately reflecting the current market values in the accounts.
• Assisting with the preparation of the quarterly management accounts as well as the preparation of the annual accounts for inclusion within the annual report ensuring they are compliant with the FRS 102 and the Charity SORP.
• Being a key representative during the annual financial audit process including the production of auditable working papers to ensure audit completion.
• Managing the day-to-day finance function of the charity’s trading arm, Red Balloon Trading, including assisting with the quarterly VAT return and the preparation of the annual accounts.
• Maintaining the integrity of the charity ledger, ensuring all transactions reflect a true and accurate position of the charity as well as maintaining the records for creation of new funds, customers and suppliers.
• Delivering line management of two Senior Finance Officers. Providing guidance with all day-to-day activities, being a role model and mentor to aid their personal and professional development.
• Liaising regularly with external bodies as well as maintaining strong relationships with all departments within the charity.

About the Role

The Strategic Director is responsible for overseeing Reprieve’s casework, litigation, and advocacy in service of our mission to end the death penalty and abuses carried out in the name of “counterterrorism” or “national security”. This is a senior management position that combines strategic vision with operational delivery. Reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, the Strategic Director manages the Deputy Directors and Heads of teams. They are responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of Reprieve’s regional casework and thematic projects by providing the necessary resources, oversight, and strategic direction to senior staff.

The Strategic Director leads the development and implementation of the organisation’s strategy, manages the annual operational planning cycle, and oversees robust monitoring and evaluation processes. Working collaboratively across the senior management team, they help build Reprieve’s case portfolio and support an international network of partners and fellows, ensuring the interests of clients, families, and communities remain at the heart of all activity.

Key responsibilities include identifying cross-team strategic opportunities and challenges, maintaining high-level oversight of budgets, and ensuring all teams are sufficiently resourced and operate with rigorous processes for project and personnel management.

As a member of the Senior Management Team, the post-holder will coordinate closely with Reprieve’s Fundraising, Finance, and Operations teams to ensure casework is ethical, sustainable, well-resourced, and effectively communicated to funders and stakeholders.

Terms

The role is a full-time (five days per week) permanent position. The annual salary is £71,378 per annum less any required deductions for income tax and national insurance.

This role is based in Reprieve’s London office. Reprieve operates a hybrid working model and we require staff to work 2 days per week from the London office and the rest of the week from home. Applicants must have the current right to work in the UK, which will be checked prior to interview.

Job Title: Floating Support Worker

This is an opportunity to join Refuge as a Floating Support Worker to provide high quality practical and emotional support to survivors of domestic abuse and their children living in our dispersed refuge accommodation in Warwickshire. This service will provide emergency accommodation across Warwickshire with high-quality domestic abuse support, ‘by-and-for’ services for survivors of domestic abuse and their children. 

The post holder will provide high quality support and safety planning to survivors and their children who are fleeing domestic abuse. This includes enabling survivors to access housing, welfare, benefits and legal advice.  A key requirement is to provide personal welfare support and to ensure that survivors are provided with a safe, supportive and welcoming environment in accordance with Refuge’s philosophical principles.

The Floating Support Worker (FSW) will carry a caseload of survivors of domestic abuse to enable them to provide a more holistic and intensive support package. They will work closely with survivors from the point of crisis through to move on from the emergency accommodation. FSWs will work in partnership with both statutory and voluntary sector partners to ensure that the whole range of survivors’ needs are met.

As part of this role, you will be required to participate in an out-of-hours on call rota.

Job Title: Campaigner

Salary: £32,000 per annum pro-rata (£25,600 per annum for 4 days per week)

Hours: 4 days (30 hours) or 5 days (37.5 hours) per week, with flexibility over working hours (core hours are 10.00-16.00).

About the Role

The Campaigner will support the development and delivery of campaigns that drive positive change within food systems. This role is ideal for someone early in their campaigning career who is passionate about influencing decision‑makers, mobilising public support, and helping deliver strategic impact across a variety of issues within food systems from dismantling industrial farming to delegitimising large corporations like large supermarket chains. This role will work collaboratively with colleagues across campaigns, so would suit an adaptive candidate with strong communication skills, keen to learn and grow within Foodrise.

Job Description

Campaign Delivery

• Support the planning, coordination, and implementation across a range of campaign activities, ensuring anti-oppressive practice is embedded throughout campaigns.
• Assist in monitoring political, social, and media developments relevant to campaign objectives.
• Support the conception and delivery of tactics such as petitions, public actions, stunts, digital engagement, supporter mobilisation and community organisation.
• Help track campaign progress and gather evidence of impact.
• Support the evaluation of campaigns, and reporting to funders.

Relationship Building

• Liaise with existing partners and stakeholders and help build support for Foodrise’s campaigns with other organisations and movements.
• Represent Foodrise and campaigns in external networks as required.
• Participate in European and global coalitions, networks and conversations, as required.
• Support the organisation of meetings, workshops, or events with external stakeholders.
• Assist with outreach to new stakeholders including decision‑makers or community groups.

Communication

• Draft compelling campaign materials including blogs, emails, social media posts, and supporter updates.
• Support the production of persuasive content for public audiences across digital channels and print.
