• Assess and support people for 12 months who have been through homelessness, placing them in stable jobs and safe homes.
• Build partnerships with businesses willing to work with Standing Tall to employ people who have been through homelessness.
• Recruit, train, and support Standing Tall’s Amici Hosts to provide safe homes for people who have been through homelessness.
• Having responsibility for Standing Tall’s operations and activities in Birmingham.

As Near You Coordinator Powys for our Community Services Team, you will focus and lead on co-ordinating our volunteer delivered RNID Near You service in Powys. This service operates across the county of Powys, in partnership with Powys Teaching Health Board to ensure that deaf people and those with hearing loss or tinnitus receive the support and information needed to lead quality lives.

You will focus and lead on developing and delivering the community service across your designated area through drop-in sessions offering: 

· Practical hearing aid support 

· Information on hearing loss and tinnitus 

· Hearing checks 

You will be responsible for 

· Co-ordinating up to 15 drop-in sessions and be able to recruit, train and manage a team of up to 30 volunteers to deliver the service. You will have responsibility for the set up and running of these sessions and have good local knowledge of the chosen area to seek new opportunities for delivery of the RNID Near-You services. 

· Co-ordinating the promotion of the service and raise awareness of the service e.g., through giving presentations to groups and organisations. 

· Developing the service to utilise RNID online resources and digital tools and support volunteers to use these tools. 

· Liaising with other local service providers to respond to the needs of deaf people and those with hearing loss or tinnitus; and develop links with other organisations and agencies working with them.  

You will be a motivated person with a keen interest in supporting people with their hearing loss. While you will be home based, there will be regular travel to all venues where we will provide drop-in sessions in community settings. 

You want to make a difference in people’s lives and love to interact with various audiences, including volunteers, health & care professionals and service users. You have experience managing events, your own workload and are able to work evenings/ weekends if required. 

You are able to physically assist clients with hearing aids sensitively, giving clear guidance and taking into account individual wishes and health needs. You are ready to work for a home-working organisation and have good IT skills, particularly with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, Word.

Our Maintenance team works across multiple properties to give our residents a good quality, safe home, working closely with project staff to identify repairs required, make repairs, undertake ad hoc cleaning and decoration, ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, and to make empty homes ready for re-occupation.

We have sites across East Sussex, centred around our Foyers in Eastbourne and Hastings. These services provide 24-hour supported housing for young people aged 16–25, offering low to medium levels of housing-related support. There are homes throughout East Sussex for young people we continue to support into independence via our Transitional Housing teams, these are typically larger shared houses of four to eight residents sharing some communal facilities such as bathrooms and kitchens. In total there are approximately 180 residents in East Sussex that the maintenance team oversee.

A key part of the role involves redecorating empty homes to prepare them for new residents. This work must be completed promptly, to an agreed and consistent standard, and with clear communication to site and maintenance teams to ensure properties can be relet within void target times.

You will also carry out planned redecoration within communal areas of our accommodation, as well as offices and workspaces used by our staff and volunteers.

Experience and Knowledge

We are looking for someone who brings:

• NVQ 2 or equivalent in painting and decorating, or equivalent work experience

• A proven track record of delivering high‑quality work, with at least two years’ experience undertaking duties similar to those required in this role.
• A strong commitment to safety, quality, and resident wellbeing, ensuring all work is completed to a consistent and professional standard.
• Good knowledge of health and safety requirements relevant to painting, decorating, and maintenance work, including safe working practices and compliance procedures.
• An understanding of professional boundaries, alongside awareness of the challenges faced by vulnerable young people and how these may influence behaviour.
• A proactive and organised approach to managing workload, with the ability to prioritise effectively.
• Strong team‑working skills, with the confidence to both support and appropriately challenge colleagues where needed.

What will you be doing?

You will guide the charity's strategy and drive a period of transformation, ensuring our operations are effective, fully compliant, and set up for long-term sustainability. Your leadership is about ensuring that our strategy, finances, and operations all serve to give our animals the best possible chance of recovery and a loving, forever home. 

To achieve this, the role is structured around three key areas of focus:

Strategy, Governance and Compliance

• Work with the Board of Trustees to develop and deliver a strategic vision with animal welfare at its heart.

• Provide the Board of Trustees with accurate, timely, and insightful reports on risk management and performance. These updates will ensure the Board has the clear visibility they need for effective oversight and strategic planning.

• Champion a culture of transparency, accountability, and excellence in governance. Build strong, positive relationships with our regulators and key partners, including contributing to our statutory and regulatory filings to ensure we maintain full compliance with all external obligations.

• Lead the development of our internal policies and processes, ensuring every policy and process is fit-for-purpose, compliant with regulatory expectations and the highest standards of animal welfare, and are regularly reviewed to help the team work safely and effectively.

• Ensure strict adherence to all animal welfare legislation, Charity Commission standards, and sector best practices, maintaining the reliable framework our team needs to focus on the animals in our care.

• Proactively monitor and adapt to evolving Welsh animal rescue licensing regulations, ensuring our practices always reflect the highest welfare standards in Wales.

• Oversee the integrity of our operational and governance records, maintaining full transparency and auditability across the charity.

Financial Strategy and Sustainability

• Work with the Board of Trustees to develop and implement a financial strategy that puts the controls and oversight in place to secure our future and direct resources to where our animals need them most.

• Lead a long-term income generation strategy, focusing on sustainable, diverse streams including legacy giving, grant-making trusts, and community fundraising, to support our rising operational costs.

• Implement and monitor strict internal financial controls to ensure all charity resources are used exclusively for approved charitable purposes.

• Oversee data governance and digital integrity, ensuring robust data protection compliance.

Operational Delivery and Team Development 

• Take responsibility for the charity’s safeguarding culture, ensuring that all policies are embedded, staff and volunteers are trained, and that all incidents are investigated and reported with transparency, to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our people.

• Foster an inclusive and supportive culture while providing strategic oversight of the modernisation of our HR practices, digital systems, and infrastructure. Ensure we are positioned to support our team’s wellbeing, growth, and development - including our volunteers and fosterers - through structured engagement and retention strategies.

• Act as the charity’s lead ambassador, building relationships with the press, local authorities, other neighbouring and notable charities, and animal welfare professionals to enhance our external reputation. 

• Oversee our operational planning, including the day-to-day management of staffing rotas and fleet resources. Provide direct line management to the senior leadership team, making sure everyone has the support they need to work effectively.

• Monitor the rescue, and report to the Board of Trustees on core operational performance, including intake-to-rehoming metrics, fostering network capacity, and clinical standards to provide clear visibility on the welfare outcomes we achieve.

• Lead the implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across operational activity, ensuring consistent service levels and adherence to regulatory and best practice standards, to ensure our animals receive the highest standards of care.

• Direct all physical site operations, planned maintenance, and infrastructure improvements, ensuring all premises are safe, efficient, and fit for purpose.

• Manage charity risk, including contributing to the risk register, site-wide health and safety audits, staff and volunteer training, and carrying out robust assessment and management of operational risks.

• A comprehensive working knowledge of animal welfare legislation, specifically the Animal Welfare (Wales) Act 2006 and the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (Wales) Regulations 2021.

• Exceptional communication and diplomatic skills, with the ability to build trust among diverse stakeholders, including staff, volunteers, local authorities, and the public.

• A full, clean UK driving licence and the ability to travel as required.

Desirable

• Experience in clinical or animal welfare operations, including familiarity with Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) standards.

• A formal management or leadership qualification.

• Experience of managing a diverse and geographically disparate team

Time Commitment

• Hours: This is a full-time role. It requires flexibility to meet the needs of the charity, including occasional evening and weekend work.

• Location: This is primarily an on-site role, based at the rescue centre in Carmarthenshire, Wales to provide visible leadership. There is some ability to work from home for some tasks, and permanent on-site accommodation may be available if required.

• Nature of the Role: As the lead for both strategic direction and operational stability, the role requires availability to respond to urgent operational matters.

Job Description

We are seeking a driven and enthusiastic practitioner to join Catch22 Surrey Young People’s Substance Use Service (SYPSUS). This role will be seconded from Catch22 to Surrey Youth Justice Service (SYJS), based within the centralised YJS.

Ideally, we require practitioners to have relevant experience in delivering specialist substance misuse interventions to children and young people, as well as the wider experience of associated risk factors. However, we would encourage applications from qualified youth and community workers who have experience of working with vulnerable young people with complex needs. 

You must be able to demonstrate:

· The skills to deliver therapeutic interventions, such as brief solution focused interventions, and motivational interviewing.

· Contributing to systemic practice.

· Abilities to assess and identify early indicators of risk.

You will need:

· You should have a relevant qualification such as youth work, counselling, or relevant experience of therapeutic delivery, and alternative suitable qualifications.

· At least three years’ experience of treatment delivery with young people and families within the relevant fields.

· Good communication, organisational and ICT skills.

Responsibilities:

· To work alongside Surrey Youth Justice Service, as part of the virtual health team contributing to the health pre-assessment pathway and health action plan for young people up to the age of 18 years, either through direct contact with children and young people, or with professionals, parents, and carers.

· To offer accurate information on assessment and therapeutic interventions available through Catch22 SYPSMS and contribute to assessment and care planning related to targeted and specialist interventions for children and young people with substance misuse issues.

· To provide sustained support to a pre-defined caseload of young people who are referred by means of effective assessment and care planning.

· To act as a link worker between SYJS and Catch22 SYPSMS, ensuring delivery of an integrated provision for children and young people.

· To work alongside SYJS providing consultation and guidance. 

· To assess levels of presenting risk associated with substance misuse, and provide support in managing this risk.

· In partnership with SYPSMS colleagues, to deliver training and workshops to support and upskill staff. 

· To identify and develop resources to support professionals working with children and young people with substance misuse issues.

Qualifications

· Relevant qualification in either youth work studies, counselling, health and social care or equivalent.

· Skills, knowledge and experience relevant for the job.

Through the VRU My Ends Consortium, SGT will work in partnership with consortium partners lead by Active Communities Network, to support vulnerable Southwark Young people to address concerns around group offending and related violence.

About this key role 
Holding a caseload of up to 12 clients at any one time, our successful candidate will provide a client-led holistic support service that responds to individual’s needs, including supporting with housing, finances, benefits work and debt advice, parenting, health, ETE and criminal justice, and appearing in court.

We will rely on you to complete initial needs assessments with clients and to support them to develop individual support and risk management plans and regularly review them to assess progress.You will be expected to promote inter-agency collaboration in the assessment and planning process, and to develop and maintain strong relationships with partner agencies, while ensuring you close cases efficiently and positively, identifying a referral route for young people that will identify agencies that can be used for ongoing support is also a key aspect of the role.
