The role of a Therapeutic Community Caseworker at the Baobab Centre is to support unaccompanied asylum seeking and refugee adolescents and young adults to access care, basic rights and entitlements and to support their social development and rehabilitation.This role involves working closely with the clinical key worker of each young person and with our wider multidisciplinary team. What will the role involve?
The Dads’/Partners’ Peer Support Worker will play an important role in helping us reach and support more fathers and partners across Birmingham. The role will be community-based and will involve regular travel across the city, working closely with Family Hubs, community organisations and other local partners.
A key part of the role will be establishing and facilitating dads’ stay-and-play groups across Birmingham’s Family Hub areas. These groups will provide opportunities for dads to spend quality time with their children, meet other fathers, build supportive relationships and access support in a welcoming and informal environment.
The postholder will also provide one-to-one peer support, drawing appropriately on their own lived experience to build trust, offer encouragement and help fathers and partners feel less alone. They will support individuals to access relevant mental health, wellbeing, family and community services where needed.
The role will also help to raise awareness of fathers’ and partners’ perinatal mental health through community events, online resources and social media. Working alongside Family Hubs and other local services, the postholder will help dads and partners develop coping strategies, strengthen their support networks and feel more confident about moving forward.
Travel expenses incurred as part of the role will be reimbursed in line with Acacia’s Expenses Policy.Due to the post requiring regular travel across Birmingham, the applicant should ideally have access to a car for work purposes.

UKCISA is looking for its Head of Finance and Risk as we continue on our exciting journey to long term financial sustainability. As a member of our Senior Leadership Team you will work with a financially astute CEO who together with our team and Trustees is leading the development of our next strategy. That strategy will position us to succeed as a trading entity, earning our revenue from the 400 member organisations from Higher and Further Education, schools and student unions. These organisations value our advocacy to government and our specialist advice, training, conferences and celebrations of international students and their role in supporting them.
As the UK’s national advisory body for international students and the professionals who work with them, our purpose is clear: to ensure that every international student has the best possible experience while studying in the UK. This mission is more important than ever. International students currently studying across the UK make an invaluable contribution to our campuses, communities, and society. At the same time, the environment in which they live, and study has become increasingly complex, shaped by shifting government policy, economic pressures, and evolving student expectations.
As our Head of Finance and Risk key areas of responsibility are:
Playing a leadership and business partner role with colleagues and Trustees
Working closely with the CEO to deliver on our financial strategy
Delivering the operational financial activities for UKCISA and leading a small finance team to achieve successful audit outcomes
Leading on areas of governance including finance, risk, audit, acting as the secretariat for the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee
Managing the organisation’s risk management processes and register
To be successful in this role you need:
A recognised accounting qualification (min Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting AAT or equivalent) or chartered accountant status
3- 5 years finance experience in the charity sector producing year end/statutory accounts in accordance with the Charities SORP
Experience in reporting to and advising Boards and/or committees
Experience in developing finance strategies to drive financial sustainability
To be interested in and developing a commitment to UKCISA’s vision and mission
To be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as a business partner and advisor with team members and trustees
To be able to demonstrate excellent leadership skills to achieve strategic and operational goals
To be able to demonstrate excellent analytical and audit skills to lead on risk and business continuity planning
To be able to demonstrate high levels of personal and professional integrity

Financial Controller
Salary: up to £60,000 depending on experience
Location: Home-based, with occasional attendance in head office
Hours: 35 hours per week; 28 hours will also be considered

About the Role
Reporting to a Senior Finance Lead, you will be responsible for financial controls, reporting, compliance, systems and the day-to-day finance function.
You will provide clear financial insight to senior leaders and trustees, support strategic planning and help ensure the organisation remains financially resilient.
You will also lead and develop a small finance team, build strong relationships across the organisation, and help non-finance colleagues understand and use financial information effectively.
Key Responsibilities
You will:
· Maintain strong financial controls and ensure statutory, regulatory and governance requirements are met.
· Deliver accurate and insightful management accounts, forecasts, variance analysis and financial commentary.
· Lead the annual audit and year-end process, working closely with external auditors.
· Oversee cashflow, reserves, banking and investment reporting.
· Improve finance systems, processes and reporting, using technology and automation where appropriate.
· Provide financial insight to support strategic planning, organisational development and decision-making.
· Build trusted relationships with senior leaders, trustees, budget holders and colleagues across the organisation.
About You
You will be a qualified accountant or bring equivalent senior-level experience and technical expertise, with a good understanding of UK accounting standards, financial governance, budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management.
You will also bring:
· Strong analytical skills and the ability to turn financial information into practical insight.
· Confidence communicating with finance and non-finance colleagues, senior leaders and trustees.
· Experience improving systems and ways of working.
· A collaborative leadership style and the ability to support and develop others.
Experience within a charity, membership body, not-for-profit or other mission-led organisation would be valuable but is not essential.
