Full-time
Contract (Fixed term contract ending 30th September 2028)
Job description

Power to Prosper is a national community wealth building programme, delivered by the New Economics Foundation (NEF) in partnership with a network of community hubs across the UK. The programme works to build community-owned economic power and challenge racial and economic inequality.

Power to Prosper is in the process of becoming an independent organisation and is currently being incubated within the New Economics Foundation group. During this incubation period, contracts of employment will be offered on a fixed-term basis through NEF Consulting.

As lead organiser, you will lead the P2P Community Organising workstream, providing strategic direction and coordination across local hubs alongside the NEF Head of Organising. You will line manage two Senior Community Organisers, supporting their development and overseeing the wider P2P organising team. Working closely with colleagues across research, communications, programmes and operations, you will ensure community insight shapes the programme’s strategy and that the organising workstream is delivered effectively through strong coordination, resourcing and support.

Role: Lead organiser
Hours of work: 35hrs per week Monday – Friday
Salary: Starting from £53,000
Location: Hybrid — Flexible within the UK, however please consider that this role requires regular travel to the London Office and Hub locations
Contract type: Fixed term contract ending 30th September 2028

How to apply
Deadline for applications: 12pm Thursday 3rd September
Interviews: First stage interviews offered online on 15th September with second stage in-person interviews on 23rd September please ensure availability on both dates.

Start date: ASAP

To apply: Please send your CV and Covering letter (no longer than 2 pages) outlining how you meet the person specification in Word format.

Given the nature of the programme, we are looking for candidates who can demonstrate a clear commitment to racial equity and an understanding of how race intersects with economic inequality. In your cover letter, include specific examples of how you have applied an equity-focused approach in your work and how this experience would support your contribution to a programme focused on building community-owned economic power.

Please also complete the Equality and Diversity monitoring form.

Inclusivity at Power to Prosper and NEFC
Power to Prosper and NEFC want to be an inclusive workplace with a diverse body of staff. We don’t want to conform to the traditional think-tank model where people from certain backgrounds are hugely under-represented. We know we have some way to go in this and are therefore genuinely keen to receive applications from Black, Asian and minority ethnic people; women; neurodivergent people; disabled people; people who identify as LGBT+; people with experience of mental health problems; and people who identify as working class or have done so in the past.

Accessibility and Equal Opportunity:
We value all candidates and are committed to equal opportunity. As a Disability Confident employer, we guarantee an interview to all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the role. If you require any reasonable adjustments to support you during the application process, or would like information in an alternative format, please let us know.

We actively promote positive action to advance fairness and tackle underrepresentation within our workforce.
