Who we are

Arts for Dementia is a small charity but a leader in our field. We work with artists, galleries, museums and community spaces to offer inspiring arts programmes for people in the early stages of dementia and their companions. We train facilitators from around the country in early stage dementia awareness and how to deliver effective arts-based activities for people living with dementia.  We also raise awareness of the value of the arts for people affected by dementia through our advocacy work.

Key responsibilities

Working with and supporting the Programmes and Communications Manager, alongside the Charity Administrator, to deliver creative programmes for people affected by dementia, including:

· Community research, specifically identifying potential partners and referrers for our creative programmes, including older adults organisations, arts organisations, NHS and memory services and community centres

· Community outreach and development, including contacting, building relationships and working with potential partners and referrers, with a key focus on improving the diversity of our network and participants

· Recruitment of workshop participants, particularly identifying key referrers and those working with people with dementia, visiting relevant organisations to raise awareness and share information, and gathering contact details of potential participants

· Participant communication and relationship-building, including reminding participants with dementia and family carers of upcoming sessions, being main point of contact for some programmes

· Co-ordinating creative programmes, including working with host organisations, artists and volunteers to set up the space, welcome participants, support them throughout the session, and ensure their enjoyment and safety

· Assisting at and eventually delivering our training to artists and learning teams from cultural organisations

· Supporting the work of the wider organisation, including our weekly online Art Wednesday sessions, events, exhibitions, fundraising events etc, as needed

· Assisting the Programmes and Communications Manager with volunteer and artist management as needed

The Branch Manager will manage the business activities associated with the Branch, per the Society’s rules and on behalf of the Branch Trustees. The Branch Manager will work alongside the Animal Care Coordinator in maintaining RSPCA Welfare standards and recruiting fosterers.

General Management

• Undertake all admin duties as defined by the Trustees.
• Responsible for the recruitment of animal fosterers and volunteers, alongside the Animal Care Coordinator.
• Create and implement an animal welfare awareness programme for children under 10.
• Attend Branch Trustee meetings and present relevant information (1 evening a month).
• Maintain all electronic platforms and social media.
• Ensure staff and volunteers are aware of and adhere to the Branch and National Society policies, procedures and rules.
• To facilitate the employment, deployment, appraisal, training and discipline of staff.
• Ensure that training needs are identified and brought to the Branch Trustees’ attention.
• Ensure that Branch staff have current job descriptions and are aware of their responsibilities.
• To establish local volunteer groups to support with their own fundraising and events, offering them advice and support.
• To have overall responsibility of the Branch charity shop.
• As required, organise and run key fundraising and/or Public Relations events in the Branch Calendar.
• Attend key sub-committee meetings as appropriate or nominate a representative.
• Discover and maintain various grants and responsible for creating and running fundraising events.

Communication

• Responsible for effective and appropriate communication with all Branch employees and volunteers on matters concerning the Branch and Society.
• To ensure effective and appropriate communication between Branch, the Region and National Headquarters.

• Responsible for ‘Public Relations’ of the Branch, using a range of media to promote a positive image of the Branch.

• Responsible for the coordination of guest speakers and visits to schools and local community groups on behalf of the Branch Trustees.

• Responsible for coordinating visits to the Branch and Animal Centre.

 Health and Safety

• Responsible for all safety-related issues, including the ‘Health and Safety at Work’ Act, COSHH regulations, fire prevention, first aid at work and Trading Standards legislation and that the Branch is fully compliant.

• Ensure that all staff are aware of and comply with Health and Safety requirements.

It is anticipated that changes may need to be made to this job description, which will be regularly reviewed. Any changes will be discussed with the post holder. The job content of this appointment may include other tasks associated with the general purview of this job description at the request of the Branch Trustees.

The Business & Human Rights Resource Centre is seeking a Head of Communications to lead our high-performing communications team. The successful candidate will lead strategic, high-impact external communications across the organisation. They will work closely with our global team across 30 countries involved in research and analysis. They will bring talent, enthusiasm, knowledge and experience. This role currently manages a team of five and reports to the Executive Director. The communications team is tasked to ensure strategic and effective media, social media, and delivery of our digital platform to drive change.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic communications: Lead the strategic evolution of our global communications as a critical component of our strategies to make change happen. Drive impact by building strategic media and digital outreach that amplifies the work of ourselves and allies, and influences key audiences. Work across our global team to develop a shared understanding of grand strategy, key audiences, the fast-changing context, and how communications can drive positive change. With the management team, set the organisation’s communications strategy and ensure we have the right skills, knowledge, and connections to deliver it. Collaborate with regional and thematic leads to ensure our communications strategies help deliver the human rights impact our programmes seek with allies.
• Lead the communications team: Support a strong team, nurturing their skills to inspire effective and high-impact communications, with an emphasis on digital first. Ensure the work of the team is expertly planned and executed within budget and meets donor requirements. Deliver our performance management system throughout the year to ensure support, well-being, and accountability. Work with the Senior Management Team to manage strategic and operational opportunities and risks.
• Drive and execute innovative, advocacy-oriented communications: Work with senior management, regional and thematic teams to drive a dynamic approach to communications, alongside spotting proactive and reactive opportunities, building higher-level relationships with journalists and partners, and developing tactical approaches. Play an active role in executing impactful, advocacy-oriented communications strategies for key products and events.
• Digital action platform and technology: Work with the Web Content and Digital Officer to manage the development of the Resource Centre’s leading multi-functional digital platform, and our substantial data as compelling evidence. Develop an understanding of the organisation’s target audiences and ensure we deliver features that effectively support them to effectively organise and present their research data and promote human rights in business.
• Programme design and fundraising: Work with our development (fundraising) team and programme leads to ensure communications, and digital technology work is built into project design and budget, and that funders’ information needs are well-served.

Key competencies and attributes

Strategic communication: At least 5 years’ experience delivering top class communications and expert understanding of how strategic communications deliver change. Demonstrable experience in strategy design and execution. Sharp news sense and editorial judgement; strong grasp of the power of social media to make change happen; and a global perspective to communications.

People manager: At least 3 years’ experience in line management. Experience in nurturing and sustaining a high performing team that thrives in a diverse, and global context. Demonstrable success in supporting project teams to deploy communications strategically for impact.

Project manager: Track record of leading and/or implementing complex communications projects including planning, execution, and evaluation. Demonstratable success planning communications for a busy organisation working closely with allies.

Digital technology & data: Experience of design and delivery of website, digital tools, and data to make change happen. Experience of working with developers to manage and maintain a website.

Human rights, and economic justice expertise: Familiarity with social justice or human rights issues and a willingness to keep up to date. Experience communicating economic justice and human rights issues desirable.

Team player: Experience of, and commitment to, working in high-performing teams that are highly collaborative and focused on outcomes. Experience of working with colleagues remotely, and in multicultural and diverse working environments desirable.

Networking: Track record of developing strategic relationships to enhance communications and advocacy efforts, e.g. civil society partners, consultants, journalists, opinion-formers. Experience building relationships of trust and joint action with allied organisations is strongly desirable.

Languages: Must be fluent in English. Additionally, French, German, Chinese, Arabic, Spanish, Portuguese, or Russian language skills would also be an asset (all languages of our digital action platform).

Main Responsibilities

As Digital Engagement Officer you will use your considerable experience to contribute to the development and delivery of a strategic local digital engagement plan to support team and organisational objectives. You will develop and deliver proactive communications to raise the profile of Diabetes UK in a geographically defined area using various social media channels. You will work collaboratively with other Regional, National and wider organisation colleagues to share best practice and agree effective ways to digitally communicate and mobilise stakeholders from all communities, incorporating key messages across the UK. Ideal Candidate

As Digital Engagement Officer you will have a strong track record in digital engagement. You should be able to demonstrate understanding of the reputational, legal, GDPR, consent and safeguarding risks involved with media relations and social media and be able to mitigate against these. You should have experience of motivating and supporting others to deliver digital and social media communications and be familiar with online content management systems. Knowledge and experience of carrying out communications projects and plans across a variety of digital platforms, including websites and social media, is essential along with the ability to maintain, review and improve online information and resources.

This is role is based within the south west and south central region, allows for hybrid working and is connected to the regional office in Taunton, Somerset. The person must therefore be based within this region.

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Marketing Manager to join the Fundraising, Marketing & Communications team at SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity on a six-month contract. This role will support the Head of Marketing & Brand to deliver impactful, integrated marketing and brand activations with great results. 

You will work on strategies and campaigns that serve the objectives of all areas within SSAFA, so your expertise will help raise awareness of crucial services, recruit volunteers, support fundraising initiatives and promote understanding of SSAFA’s work. Most notably you will develop the strategic approach and activation of a new brand proposition in the Autumn. This is an incredibly important piece of work for the charity, so the role will suit somebody with experience in driving a brand previously.

You will work collaboratively and creatively with colleagues across the Fundraising, Marketing and Communications directorate, taking briefs and translating them into finalised marketing activations. Alongside the Head of Marketing & Brand you will work closely with the rest of the team, particularly the Senior Marketing Officer.

About the team 

You will be joining a well-established team of marcomms professionals, ranging from designers to case study managers and social media experts. You will have plenty of opportunity to interact with other internal departments, such as Fundraising or members of the volunteer network. 

 About you 

To hit the ground running and carry out this role successfully you will have:

• Demonstrable experience managing marketing or brand strategies and campaigns that achieve engagement or brand visibility metrics.
• Experience of managing projects with several internal stakeholders working with either agency or in-house delivery teams.
• The ability to interrogate and understand a brief in order to develop multi-channel campaign plans and co-ordinate the creation of compelling content and collateral that resonates with audiences.
• Experience of co-ordinating post-campaign analysis reports in order to communicate achievements and performance to relevant internal stakeholders.
• Effective time management skills with the ability to prioritise and work to tight deadlines as needed. 
• Experience of working in a commercial, public or not-for-profit organisation would be beneficial.

The role

The communications manager will play a central role in enhancing B Lab UK’s credibility by leveraging our corporate milestones, data, insights, partnerships and public affairs work to reach priority audiences. You will work closely with our campaigns team to influence policymakers and develop thought-leadership to make a compelling case for an alternative to business as usual. You will be responsible for overseeing and optimising B Lab UK’s press office function, including monitoring and responding to reputational risk across the B Corp movement. 

Primary responsibilities

• Drive the delivery of core components of the communication strategy, specifically owning our corporate communications, press office and acting as the first port of call for media issues management

• Developing and owning media strategies to increase the organisation’s influence, build understanding of evolving standards and support our policy and public affairs ambitions. 

• Lead B Lab UK’s thought leadership agenda to raise the leadership team and organisation’s profile and establish us as a leader in economic systems change

• Establish and leverage relationships with key journalists, aligned organisations and B Lab UK partners

• Line-manage members of the communications team, including the communications coordinator and leading the communications internship programme

• Procure and manage the day to day business of external communications providers (agency/freelance), monitoring and managing budgets, timelines and deliverables 

• Collaborate with managers across the organisation, leading on cross-organisational projects where necessary

• Collaborate with B Lab network counterparts, ensuring UK communications plans align with B Lab Global and other regions

Skills and experience

The Upper Room (TUR) works with a wide range of financially and socially disadvantaged groups including homeless people, people with long-term mental health conditions, asylum-seekers, refugees and ex-offenders – helping them to improve their lives and become productive members of society. Central to our offering is our UR4Meals service, providing free, home-cooked food to people who cannot afford to provide for themselves. We are also very proud of our UR4Driving programme, which supports people recently out of prison with free driving lessons in exchange for community volunteering. Gaining a driving licence greatly enhances their future employability prospects and helps break the cycle of re-offending. Additionally, our UR4Jobs project focusses on both client wellbeing and breaking down the many barriers to employment faced by disadvantaged people every day.

The role

This newly scoped role reports into the CEO and is critical to our ability to create the income we need to keep up with the ever-increasing demand on our services. Primarily, the role has two fundamental elements to it: firstly, working with both a specialist external consultant and the CEO in planning, submitting and reporting on the grants that make up a large proportion of our income; and secondly, the planning and managing of TUR’s traditional (and always fun) annual events. These include celebrity interviews and talks, garden parties and various community events such as the Green Days festival in Chiswick. There are additionally a number of community relationships that add great value to our work and efforts to raise funds which require regular contact. Occasionally, the role will also require presenting or talking to both funders and community groups as we share our magnificent story with them – and ultimately, convince them to support us.

About You

You live within – or know well – West/Central London; you probably need a job with some working flexibility and want to have genuine belief in the cause you’re promoting. You have a CV that demonstrates experience in a comparable role: this could be in another charity, CIC or other Non-Profit organisation. You are comfortable and confident with working autonomously, so you will need to be disciplined; you can articulate and ‘bring to life’ our story through your advanced written and oral communication skills, enabling us to always deliver highly compelling reasons to secure gain financial (and other) support. You don’t need to be a Microsoft Office expert, but you should be familiar with Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Finally, you are self-motivated and energetic, as well as passionate about making sure disadvantaged groups across West London get the opportunity to improve their highly challenging lives. Ideally you will have a driver's licence and use of a car, but this is not essential.

We are looking for an experienced Head of Communications to lead on all of our external communications in the UK. You will have overall responsibility for brand, content, digital and social media, media/PR and celebrities, leading a team of 9 in a Fundraising and Communications Directorate of 35. The Communications team has grown considerably in recent years, with investment in digital mobilisation, content, brand and celebrity management now paying off. Main purpose and scope of the role:

To support and work in collaboration with our lead designer at Parentkind to: 

• Develop, implement and maintain a new brand for Parentkind
• Create best-in-class design of print and digital assets, including magazines, guides, videos, website, campaign and social media assets
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders providing creative and innovative design support for Parentkind projects 

Duties and key responsibilities:

Under the guidance of the Lead Designer at Parentkind

1.Design:

• Champion the Parentkind brand across all designed assets and activities to ensure brand integrity and consistency
• Design assets which will include but are not limited to; print and digital magazines, guides, social assets, email designs, web assets, video content and PowerPoint templates
• Contribute creatively to large campaigns and activities ensuring that we are delivering best in-class and impactful design, that effectively represents and promotes our vision
• Conduct thorough quality checks on deliverables to ensure accuracy

2.Project management:

• Lead on the delivery of design activity such as guides, social and email campaigns, ensuring that design work is delivered to time and allows for revisions, sign-off and launch deadlines
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritise effectively
• Assist in managing and organising design assets, including image libraries, templates and project files

3.Collaboration:

• Work with the lead designer at Parentkind to support on projects, refine design outputs and deliver work within the Parentkind brand and to deadlines
• Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that design work meets the objectives of the relevant projects and is done so within the Parentkind brand

4.Continuous learning:

• Work with others across the organisation as well as independently to understand our key audiences so that the work delivered is audience-focussed
• Stay informed of the latest design trends, technologies and best practises so that Parentkind’s work is forward-thinking and impactful

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to become the newest member of our growing Communications Team.

As Graphic Designer you’ll be responsible for showcasing the impact and reach of our work through a wide range of creative. You’ll be working in a busy Communications Team, as part of GWT’s wider Engagement and Fundraising Team, and will work closely with the Head of External Relations , in addition to building relationships with staff across the organisation.

You’ll develop creative across a range of communications channels, including digital and print. As our ideal candidate, you’ll be a strong problem solver, with a conscientious and collaborative approach. You’ll have an excellent level of attention to detail, communication and strong interpersonal skills.

We’re looking for someone with a proven track record of meeting deadlines and managing a fluctuating workload, with the ability to balance creativity with pragmatism to meet the varied needs of the organisaiton.

As a member of the Communications Team, the Graphic Designer will plan and execute creative for a variety of projects and audiences, including to support GWT’s fundraising work. You’ll work closely with the Head of External Relations and Head of Supporter Development to shape ideas, develop concepts and articulate and refine our message through creative.

As a key brand guardian, you’ll work to keep the organisation unified, using and developing our brand identity effectively both internally and externally.

The role

Is an exciting new edition to the TUR team, created to capitalise on the fact that the number of businesses in our catchment area is 45000+, but we’re not trying to talk to all of them, just target a few – ideally by gaining referrals and recommendations. So the job is to proactively find those local businesses happy to talk to us, understand what they might be looking for by partnering with a charity, share our brilliant story along with the business case (which is strong) for them to get involved with us in some way. We have made an excellent start, we already have a small number of great corporate partners, and this job is about taking it all on to the next level. As you would expect the role is about creating contacts, networking, maximising the face-to-face time with prospective partners and where possible gaining referrals. And, ultimately this is all because, the bigger our portfolio of corporate partners all feeling great about their involvement with us, the more able we are to raise the funds we need to keep up with an ever-increasing demand for our services.

About You

You also need great listening skills so you can build a picture of what each new corporate partner is looking to achieve by signing up to our cause. You have used Microsoft suite products before – including PowerPoint. A driving licence and use of a car is desirable as the role requires regular client visits, some of whom may not be accessible by public transport.
