About the team

Our Property and Facilities team is responsible for ensuring Shelter’s estate is fit for purpose and fully compliant for its staff, volunteers and clients. We provide a full range of professional services, including acquisitions, disposals, rent and lease negotiations, rating, estates management, building surveying, strategic planning, budgeting, compliance, health & safety and facilities management. We also support all office and shop relocations, refurbishments and planned maintenance projects, while our portfolio comprises one freehold head office property in London, 24 leasehold offices and around 90 leasehold shops across England and Scotland.

About the role

You will be responsible for all property related matters across Scotland and England for our diverse portfolio. That will involve making regular site visits, with occasional overnight stays. As well as ensuring all lease events are managed and actioned and properties are safe, maintained and fully compliant, we’ll also rely on you to assist with the development and implementation of robust policies, processes and systems to help manage the estate in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Role Specifics

You’ll need a degree level qualification in a surveying/property related discipline and full RICS membership. You’ll also need a good understanding of the planning process and building regulations approval system. The confidence to lead and manage multiple projects effectively and ensure they’re delivered on time and on budget, from inception to completion, is important too. Self-motivated, capable of working both unsupervised and as part of a team, and with a positive ‘can do’ attitude, providing solutions, giving sound property advice and negotiating effectively with a variety of key stakeholders comes naturally to you. We are looking for an experienced charity finance professional who can play this key role in our UK finance team. MRG is a complex organisation with four offices, many projects and funders, and staff around the world.

Working with three UK finance colleagues, and those in our offices in Hungary and Uganda, the Finance Officer will process and record all our financial transactions (expenditure, sales and grant income) and assist in statutory reporting and year end audit preparation.

Here is a more detailed list of the tasks in finance control, reporting, payroll and bank liaison:

• Assist in preparing budgets
• Assist in regular cashflow forecasting and planning.
• Post transactions to Sage / Enterpryze
• Monitor MRG’s suppliers and other creditors and arranging payments
• Process documentation for MRG’s sales, donor and other income, including coding transactions.
• Bank cheques and cash received 
• Raise invoices for MRG sales debtors, and for reimbursement of MRG staff costs by outside agencies

• Reconcile bank statements to cashbooks, Sales and Purchase Ledger control accounts and the suspense account.
• Produce Budget versus Actual reports for the core departments, and identification of major variances, in consultation with budget holders.

• Process annual cost of living and increment increases to staff salary approved by the Finance and Operations Committee and the Leadership Team, and provide information on increases to staff

• Liaise with the bank over relevant issues, including queries on transactions and updates of bank signatories

The person

We are looking for someone with:

• a minimum of four years finance experience, including two years experience of either management accounts report preparation, or preparation of statutory financial or equivalent experience of accounts analysis and reporting
• experience of using accounts software (e.g. SAGE, QuickBooks, Sun, Enterpryze, etc)
• experience of preparing statutory financial accounts
• experience of charity finances involving many projects co-funded by several donors
• experience of preparing annual accounts for audit under SORP accounting standards
• experience of other accounting functions including purchase ledger and sales ledger
• a high level of numeracy and attention to detail
• advanced level of competence in Excel
• the ability to prioritise work, meet deadlines and combine responding to urgent requests with longer terms tasks and activities

Our exciting Health IDVA role is leading the way in forging referral pathways between GPs and specialist support for survivors of domestic abuse. You will build on our existing strong relationships with all the GP practices in Greenwich, provide robust in-person and online training to GPs on how to spot the signs of abuse, and manage a caseload of women referred by GPs. 

Aims of the Role

· To build and maintain effective relationships with general GP practice teams, and to recruit local general practices to participate in the DA Health programme

· To provide in-house training for GP teams on understanding, recognising and responding to domestic & Sexual abuse (DSA).

· To provide ongoing specialist advice and support around Domestic and Sexual Abuse to GP teams

· To encourage GP health professionals to ask patients about their experience of abuse and respond, record, safety check and refer

· To provide specialist, individual and needs-led DSA advocacy and support to female patients who are experience DSA who are referred from participating practices, and to provide onward referrals where appropriate, again initially via phone

· To provide signposting and onward referrals to male patients who are affected by DSA

· To provide feedback on case outcomes to referring clinicians

· To collect and collate performance and monitoring data for reporting purposes and with a view to further embedding and developing the Health IDVSA programme locally

Areas of Responsibility

1.  Practice-based work

· Work closely with the Clinical Lead to promote the HEALTH IDSVA programme within the area and to encourage local general practices to sign up 

· Negotiate dates for and arrange training sessions with practices that agree to participate

· Prepare training packs for practice training sessions

· Deliver, alongside the Clinical Lead, our bespoke DSA training to clinicians and non-clinical staff in participating general practices and prepare training materials where necessary

· Promote awareness of the experiences and needs of women affected by DSA, particularly in relation to their health, in partnership with the Clinical Lead

· Develop a good relationship with all general practice staff and work effectively as part of the practice team. This includes:

.   provision of systematic and support to the primary care teams of participating general practices, including meeting with individuals and small groups of clinical and administrative staff

.   Attending relevant meetings

· Maintain effective monitoring procedures and ensure that clear accurate records of practice-based work are kept and maintained, in line with Health IDSVA requirements

· Feedback on the use of the electronic medical record prompt linked to the Health IDSVA programme and provide patient feedback and case updates /outcomes

· Using the data collected, maintain an overview of local practices’ engagement with the Health IDSVA programme

· Act upon this overview to proactively ensure that the Health Idsva programme is well established and embedded, and that all local HEALTH IDSA -trained practices are engaging with the programme.

2. Advocacy and support service

· Provide support to women experiencing (or who have recently experienced) DSA referred by primary health care clinicians or MARAC

· Provide support to women experiencing (or who have experienced) DSA who self-refer from participating practices

· Provide direct assessment, casework support, advice, information and advocacy to women experiencing DSA through telephone contact, and/or meetings at the relevant practice

· Work with women experiencing DSA to increase their personal safety, and that of any children, and inform them of their rights and options in terms of housing, legal and welfare rights

· Develop good working relationships and liaise with outside agencies when needed.

· Keep accurate records of all referrals received and of work done with or on behalf of service users, in line with Health IDSVA requirements.

3. Reporting and Monitoring

· Attend and participate in the local Health IDSVA steering group meetings

· Contribute to monitoring and evaluation of the Health IDSVA programme, by:

- Collecting and collating all practice-based and referral and advocacy data and monitoring, as requested

- Producing written reports as requested (e.g. quarterly reports, annual report), including for the local Health IDSVA steering group

·       Participate in multi-agency working parties and focus groups, when requested to do so by the Director or your manager.

·  Provide advice and training at a range of locations as requested for both professionals and the public

· Keep up to date on research, policy development and other literature relevant to the project. Attend relevant conferences and seminars on behalf of the project.

4. Other

· Attend team meetings, relevant meetings with trustees and to be part of Her Centre outreach marketing

· Attend training as identified with your manager

· Take on other tasks as appropriately as requested by managers or the Trustees

We’re looking for a Community Coordinator to take ownership of a group of WeSwim clubs, playing a central role in building and supporting a thriving, connected community around them. 

This is a role for someone who is excellent at relationship building and enjoys being at the heart of things. You’ll work closely with disabled swimmers, volunteers and our pool partners to create a welcoming, inclusive and seamless experience from first contact through to regular participation. 

You’ll coordinate sessions, support swimmers into the water, build strong local relationships, and help clubs grow through outreach and community engagement. 

Alongside keeping things running smoothly, you’ll be out in the community, getting to know people, spotting opportunities, and supporting volunteers and swimmers to take part in ways that feel meaningful to them.

Key Responsibilities:

• Club operations & coordination: Coordinate weekly swim sessions across your allocated clubs, making sure sessions run smoothly. Act as the main point of contact for swimmers, volunteers, committees and pool partners, building strong relationships and resolving day-to-day issues. Regularly visit clubs to get to know volunteers and swimmers, understand how sessions are running, and identify any issues or opportunities.

• Swimmer journey & membership: Manage the swimmer journey from application through to first session and ongoing participation. Monitor attendance and engagement and meet recruitment and attendance targets ensuring a balanced flow of swimmers.

• Swimmer recruitment & outreach: Build relationships with local organisations to raise awareness of WeSwim and support referrals. Deliver outreach activity to maintain a steady flow of new swimmers into clubs and waiting lists. Support the setup and launch of new WeSwim clubs by building local awareness and supporting swimmer recruitment, working closely with the wider team.

• Volunteer engagement & club presence: Build strong relationships with volunteers, ensuring they feel welcomed, valued and supported. Support volunteer with regular communications and work closely with the wider team to improve volunteer experience.

• Systems & administration: Maintain accurate club records including membership data and attendance logs. Monitor attendance and impact data to support reporting. Use and improve systems and processes to support efficient coordination and growth.

• Community participation & engagement: Support volunteers, swimmers and supporters to organise and lead their own activities and initiatives (e.g. events, challenges, social activities). Job Purpose

The Researcher will support the Patient Evidence department in generating, analysing and communicating patient-centred evidence to inform clinical, regulatory, industry, academic and policy decision-making, and to fuel progress across MPE programmes and activities. The role involves working with qualitative and quantitative data, supporting research projects and contributing to evidence-based outputs that amplify patients’ experiences and needs. The Patient Evidence department conducts our own patient-focussed research and collaborates on external projects with patient and medical organisations, universities, clinical teams, industry partners and regulatory bodies.

Main Duties and responsibilities

Perform the following duties in conjunction with and under the guidance of the Head of Patient Research:

• Independently design research projects and develop research protocols aligned with MPE’s research strategy, including surveys, interviews and literature reviews.
• Support the development of proposals to secure public and private funding to support research activities.
• Independently conduct assigned research tasks in accordance with project deliverables and timelines.
• Conduct and analyse qualitative (interviews, focus groups) and quantitative research (surveys).
• Conduct desk research (systematic and non-systematic literature reviews) on topics such as patient experiences, health systems and psychosocial impacts of myeloma.
• Maintain accurate records of participant data, safeguarding the confidentiality of participants and patient data, as necessary.
• Write up research results and prepare visualisations of data for different audiences (including for patients, clinicians, academic journals).
• Disseminate research results including presentations at international and national conferences, internal and external meetings and workshops. Represent MPE at internal/external meetings when needed.
• Collaborate with communications colleagues to design strategies to disseminate our research to wider audiences.
• Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to develop recruitment and involvement strategies to enhance participation from underserved groups and from different parts of Europe.

Essential criteria

• An undergraduate degree in a relevant subject (such as psychology, social sciences, health policy, health and social care, public health or related fields)

• A minimum of 3 years experience conducting applied health research
• Knowledge and experience of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies including surveys, focus groups and interviews applied to health-related research
• Strong skills in qualitative, quantitative or mixed-methods analysis.
• Understanding of principles of Good Clinical Practice in research.

About MPE

Myeloma Patients Europe (MPE) is a pan-European organisation representing 57 myeloma and amyloidosis patient groups from over 35 European countries. It is registered as an international non-profit organisation under Belgian Law. A Board mainly composed of patients and caregivers is elected by the membership to oversee the strategy and governance of the organisation. A team of 14 staff members runs remotely the day-to-day operations, programmes and services within 4 divisions: Access and Policy, Medical Education and Scientific Engagement, Patient Evidence and Member and Patient Community Programmes.

About the Patient Evidence department

The MPE Patient Evidence department was established in 2020 to generate evidence to better understand and articulate patients’ perspectives, influence decision-makers and use evidence as a driving force for progress across our strategic goals.  The team is led by Dr Eilidh Duncan and our goal is to lead the development of robust patient evidence to improve experiences, outcomes and access for myeloma patients and their families. We achieve this by spearheading novel patient research initiatives that address gaps in the evidence and ensure the meaningful inclusion of patient perspectives in research design, conduct and interpretation. We use the evidence we generate internally to fuel progress across all MPE programmes and activities and externally by decision-makers including those in clinical, regulatory, industry, academic and policy settings.

Our Organisation

Role Purpose:

The Policy and Advocacy team within Womankind influences a transformative, feminist agenda for change in solidarity with movement partners and allies. This role reports to the UK and Global Policy and Advocacy Manager.

This is a full-time UK based role that supports the policy and advocacy team’s efforts from a decolonial feminist lens, in line with Womankind’s 2030 strategy and the Influencing Sub-Strategy. Reporting to the Movement Strengthening and Feminist Funding Policy & Advocacy Manager, the role will engage in Policy and Advocacy operational and management support, contribute to advocacy learning and exchange, knowledge production, coordination of MEL-related outputs, and represent Womankind internally and externally vis-à-vis its advocacy objectives.

Areas of responsibility:

1.Policy and Advocacy Operational and Management Support

• Assists the Policy and Advocacy team to respond to the needs and opportunities in the WRO and feminist movement and feminist funding ecosystem context. This includes mapping the context, conducting research, drafting internal briefing documents, attending in-person meetings with state and civil society actors, and dispatching external communication as appropriate.

• Taking the lead in partner and ally communications in relation to various policy and advocacy opportunities.

• Assisting the Policy and Advocacy Team to complete, file and dispatch finance and administration forms including international transfer forms.

• Supports annual operational and budget planning processes.

2.Policy and Advocacy Governance Support

• Schedules monthly Policy and Advocacy meetings, attend and document the said meetings, on a rotational basis with the other P&A Officer.

• Contribute to reporting processes at Womankind to ensure high quality narrative and financial work plans and reports, grant management, monitoring and evaluation, linking and learning, and financial management - in collaboration with other Womankind colleagues;

• Contribute to all necessary or ongoing partner due diligence in collaboration with other Womankind colleagues;

• Contribute to regular progress reports for key stakeholders including donor reporting;

• Contribute to project and funder administration and record keeping to ensure that it is delivered with excellence;

• Contribute to recruitment process administrative tasks as requested.

3. Contribution to knowledge and evidence base

• Acts as the Policy and Advocacy Monitoring Evaluation and Learning Liaison to contribute to effective and appropriate technical monitoring, evaluation, and learning processes linked to Policy and Advocacy work in collaboration with the Impact and Learning Manager.

• Working with the Impact and Learning Manager to ensure Policy and Advocacy work is captured in the Policy Programmes and Learning annual reports.

• Support the planning of key policy and advocacy engagement spaces.

• Support the Policy and Advocacy team’s learning and exchange efforts, and knowledge production efforts.

• Contributes to the work of the communications team through drafting content on Policy and Advocacy work for the website and social media channels.

• Coordinates quarterly updates from the Policy and Advocacy team and liaise with officers in the policy and advocacy, grant making and fundraising teams to ensure these are captured and sent to partners.

Person Specification

Qualification and training:

• A bachelor’s degree qualification in a relevant social sciences field e.g. international development or legal studies, human rights, gender studies, or equivalent experience.

Essential Experience:

1. At least 3 years’ experience of working in organisations that engage in strategic, partner-centred, evidence-based advocacy with demonstrable results.

2. Experience of supporting the implementation of global advocacy projects and/or programmes to a high standard, for the promotion of women’s human rights and gender equality that are transnational and/or multi-stakeholder in scope;

3. Strong Monitoring, Evaluation, Reporting and Learning Skills.

4. Demonstrable experience of working within multi-disciplinary teams including women’s movements, and/or membership movements, networks or coalitions targeting governments and civil society in the UK, and globally.

5. Experience of working with partner organisations located outside the UK with the ability to work with people from different cultural backgrounds and in different cultural settings;

6. Astute planner who can deliver multiple activities under pressure to strict deadlines and high levels of precision.

Essential Travel Requirements: International travel is an essential requirement for this role. The post holder must undertake reasonable international travel to fulfil their duties. This is expected to be no more than four weeks per year.

Key Responsibilities

Programme Delivery:

Our Organisation 

Sydenham Garden, based in Lewisham in South-East London, is a special, unique and beloved wellbeing centre utilising its gardens, nature reserve and activity rooms to help people living with and recovering from mental and physical ill-health. We were established in 2002 and will celebrate our 25th anniversary in 2027. We provide nature and arts based creative, social and therapeutic activities for co-workers (the name we give our primary beneficiaries). People are referred to us from community organisations and health professionals and we use an integrative approach where those with different degrees of mental and physical ill health come together with volunteers from the local community to reduce social exclusion and prejudice. Each year we work with on average over 250 co-workers and over 70 volunteers.
