About Us
We Are Survivors is a survivor-focused voluntary sector organisation that aims to create and facilitate safe spaces for male (including trans and non-binary individuals) survivors of sexual harms across Greater Manchester, providing access to quality-assured support. Our work is focused on developing ways for individuals to empower themselves to work through personal and sometimes painful issues, guided and supported by our trauma-informed team, following the trauma and recovery model.
Our vision is to have “A society where NO male survivor is left behind”
About the Role
At We Are Survivors, every role exists for one reason: to support male survivors of sexual harms and the people who stand alongside them. While each position has a different focus, they all contribute to providing safe, effective and trauma-informed services that help survivors and their loved ones move forward.
We Are Survivors is looking for a Head of Support & Advocacy to join our senior management team and help us make our ambition that no male survivor is left behind a reality.
This is a key leadership role with responsibility for our growing range of advocacy and practical support services. You’ll primarily lead services, including our ISVA provision, community activities, support for loved ones, through-the-gate work, and complex support, ensuring they are well-led, connected, and responsive to what survivors actually need.
Working closely with our Service Director, Operations Director and wider Executive Team, you’ll help turn organisational strategy into good day-to-day practice. You’ll support managers and senior practitioners, oversee service performance and quality, and ensure we meet our commitments to survivors, commissioners and partners. You’ll also have an important role in safeguarding, reporting, service development and ensuring our trauma-informed and survivor-centred approach is reflected consistently across our work.
We’re looking for someone who understands that advocacy is about more than navigating systems. It can mean helping someone access practical support, ensuring their voice is heard, connecting them with services around them, or simply making sure they don’t fall through the cracks. You’ll need experience in leading services or clinical provision, alongside an understanding of how to support adults and/or young people who may be experiencing vulnerability. Just as importantly, you’ll need to be comfortable building relationships with people with lived experience and bringing their voices into the development of services.
You’ll be joining We Are Survivors at an exciting point in our journey. We turn 18 next year, and as the organisation grows, we are doing more than ever to reach male survivors who have traditionally been overlooked or struggled to access support. This role is a real opportunity to help shape what the next stage of that journey looks like, working across our organisation and alongside partners across health, criminal justice and the voluntary sector.
We’re particularly interested in people who bring experience from health and social care, advocacy, sexual violence services, criminal justice or the VCSE sector. You don’t need to have followed one particular career path; we’re interested in the experience, values and leadership you can bring.
If you want a senior role where you can remain close to services, support people to do excellent work and help shape an organisation that is continuing to grow its reach and ambition, we’d really like to hear from you.
