GFS is seeking a strategic, proactive and values-led Communications Manager to lead the delivery of our communications function and elevate our profile across audiences and platforms. The role
As a Senior Researcher, you will take a leading role in our research programmes with parliamentarians and journalists, while also contributing to our work with the general public and bespoke client projects. You will act as a trusted partner to clients and a point of guidance for junior colleagues.
You will lead on our nfpPolitics programmes – quarterly surveys of 100 MPs and an annual survey of 100 members of the House of Lords, plus annual surveys of MSPs in Scotland, MSs in Wales and MLAs in Northern Ireland. These programmes give charity clients clear, evidence-based insight into how they are seen at Westminster and in the devolved parliaments: tracking awareness of organisations and their campaigns, the actions parliamentarians have taken in response, and how effective they consider those organisations to be. Subscribers also receive unfiltered open comments from parliamentarians and access to broader political intelligence data – covering what MPs see as the biggest challenges facing the sector, the factors that influence whether they will support a campaign, and which organisations have impressed them in Parliament.
You will also oversee nfpPress, our annual survey of 150 UK journalists across print, digital and broadcast media. This gives charity communications teams systematic insight into how the media perceives them and their work – not just whether journalists know who they are, but whether they want to work with them, and what would make them more likely to.
Alongside this tracking work, you will contribute to a varied portfolio of bespoke projects for individual charity clients – from applicant perception research for funders, to supporter benchmarking and message testing. In practice, this means working across a wide range of topics and methodologies, helping charities make better strategic decisions.
Description of responsibilities and opportunities:

Who we are looking for:
This post would be ideally suited to a researcher with at least three years’ experience in a market research or social research role, with a strong interest in the non-profit sector and the professional audiences it works with – whether parliamentarians, journalists, funders or specialist communities.
Essential:
· Minimum three years’ previous professional research experience, ideally in market research, social research or a consultancy setting
· Experience of managing research projects or programmes with a high degree of independence
· Experience of managing clients or other external relationships
· Experience of presenting in a professional context
· Strong quantitative research skills, including excellent data literacy, survey design and data visualisation
· Analytical skills and ability to interpret research, and explain what it means for a range of different audiences – both verbally and in writing
· A strong interest in politics, media or public affairs, and an understanding of how non-profits engage with these arenas
· A strong interest in, and preferably experience of, charities and not-for-profits
Desirable:

Role Purpose:
The Fundraising & Marketing team’s purpose is to advocate for and raise flexible and unrestricted funding to enable Womankind to deliver it’s 2030 organisational strategy.
The Fundraising and Marketing Officer supports the growth of Womankind’s fundraising income by delivering engaging, donor-focused fundraising and marketing activity across online and offline channels. Working closely with the Individual Giving Manager (IGM), the role develops and delivers fundraising appeals, email campaigns, newsletters, and fundraising-led social media content to strengthen donor retention and supporter engagement. Areas of responsibilities:
Individual Giving – Support the IGM to develop and deliver online and offline fundraising appeals and email/mail newsletter updates to maintain high donor retention levels amongst existing supporters and raise cash income. Work with IGM and Fundraising & Database Officer (FDO) to ensure our supporters receive excellent supporter care through planning and implementing donor journeys.
Storytelling – Co-ordinate the fundraising team’s approach to storytelling in line with Womankind’s funding charter by working closely with the Communications team and wider organisation to gather information, updates, video content & images that demonstrate Womankind’s and our partners work and impact on women’s lives. Work closely with the Communications Officer to plan and deliver compelling fundraising and marketing content across social media channels, identifying new opportunities and approaches to improve our online presence and respond to supporter queries.
High value donor fundraising – Working closely with the Philanthropy Manager – Corporate Partnerships, implement Womankind’s high value donor plan, using the CRM to identify high value donor trends, cultivate prospects, and tailor communications as required.

Person Specification
Essential Experience:
• Experience of developing and implementing online and offline fundraising marketing campaigns, delivering them on time and on budget
• Excellent written communication skills with consistent attention to detail and experience of writing engaging, inspiring and persuasive copy for a range of media
• Experience of using Beacon or a similar fundraising CRM for marketing and collecting data, and for monitoring and analysing data to report against KPIs and inform future plans

What the job involves
We’re seeking an Email Marketing Officer to join our Integrated Marketing and Media team. In this role, you’ll manage the day-to-day running of our email and SMS platform, making sure every message is engaging, accessible, and delivers real impact for our supporters. You'll make sure we're targeting the right supporters, with the right comms, at the right time.
You’ll work closely with teams across Prostate Cancer UK to help shape their messages for email, offering best practice advice, guidance and training where needed. Day to day, you’ll review content to identify opportunities for improvement, and write or edit copy that is clear, engaging and aligned with our tone of voice. You'll work closely with the team to help build compelling email campaigns and use analytics tools to monitor performance and suggest ways we can improve engagement, loyalty and drive actions and income.
As part of the Digital Marketing and Channels team, you’ll collaborate with colleagues across web, social media and strategic communications to ensure our owned channels work seamlessly together. You’ll support teams in making the best use of email marketing, help roll out new features and capabilities within the platform, and play a key role in improving how we communicate with our warm supporter audience.

What we want from you
We’re looking for someone with solid experience in digital marketing, particularly email and SMS marketing, either in-house or at an agency. You’ll be confident planning, writing and building campaigns that engage a specific audience and encourage meaningful action.
You’ll have experience using email marketing platforms (ideally Upland Adestra, though experience with tools such as MailChimp or DotDigital would also be valuable). A good understanding of campaign analytics, testing and optimisation is essential, along with the ability to turn performance data into clear recommendations.
You’ll be an excellent communicator and a brilliant writer, able to create clear, punchy and engaging content — from compelling emails to concise text messages. You’ll also be confident supporting colleagues across the organisation, explaining best practice and helping others feel more confident using digital channels.

Key responsibilities
Ensure partners and young people in our eight #iwill Towns & Cities of Social Action (TaCSA) understand and feel connected to the #iwill movement through consistent communication, engagement in opportunities, and inclusion in movement development discussions/activities.
In partnership with our partners in the TaCSAs, develop and deliver a programme of youth development and social action activity, with emphasis on those communities.
Working closely with the Communications team, co-create and support communications that profile youth voice, platform stories, and showcase impact through digital and traditional media.
Facilitate opportunities for young people to build their confidence, skills and leadership through volunteering, campaigning and social action opportunities.
In partnership with the Nationally-focused Manager and Officer, ensure young people from our TaCSAs have access to opportunities to influence and take action at a national level as well as in their local area.
Coordinate and support on youth-facing campaigns and events such as Power of Youth Day, #iWill Week, and key regional activities.
Ensure opportunities for young people prioritise inclusion and accessibility for those who might need additional support and encouragement to step up and engage.
Support young people to create digital content (e.g. blogs, videos, social posts) and partner with them to tell their stories across local and national platforms.
Develop content on agreed digital platforms to engage and connect young people and networks across the UK.
Organise and manage logistics for youth activities: prioritising safeguarding, appropriate briefings, communication promotion and stakeholder coordination.
Engage with partners and stakeholders—youth workers, media, funders, local authorities—to build alliances, increase visibility of youth-led work and encourage new opportunities.
Communicate the benefits of the UK Youth and #iwill Movement and progress against our priorities to organisations and individuals, through a variety of channels, updates and specific marketing campaigns.
Experience we're after
A nationally recognised youth work qualification or ability to demonstrate experience of frontline youth work delivery, understanding of contextual safeguarding and data protection is highly desirable.
Experience of working with young volunteers and/or social action projects.
Demonstrated experience in digital engagement and communications activities—especially creating content with young people.
Experience of using digital platforms to engage networks and communities.
Proven track record of project coordination, event management, or logistical planning within a youth or voluntary sector setting.
Experience working in place-based contexts and understanding how to engage local communities and young people meaningfully.
Confident engaging with and coaching young people to take on new opportunities, lead campaigns, tell their stories, or influence decisions.
Familiarity with facilitating groups sessions and workshops is highly desirable.

If successful, you will help to make the case for resources in primary care to meet the health needs of our population, develop policy solutions to improve general practice, and influence decision making at senior levels of government. You will contribute to efforts in overcoming some of the biggest changes and challenges faced by the NHS in its history, with a particular focus on supporting general practice to engage with and respond to dynamic digital developments. You will work closely with our public affairs and campaigns team and our press team, as well as a range of others across the organisation, to ensure that the voice of general practice is heard at the most senior levels.
We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic policy professional who can hit the ground running and help drive forwards our influence in key areas within a fast-paced policy landscape.
