About the Role
As an Activist Learning and Development Officer, you will deliver a programme of short, engaging learning sessions – typically two-hour, bitesize modules delivered online – to support workplace reps and other active members.
Your focus will be pure delivery, drawing on your facilitation skills to help activists build agency, develop organising skills, and feel confident stepping into more active roles in their workplaces.
You’ll also work closely with colleagues across the wider organisation to support the strategic goals of the Activism Academy, ensuring learning remains relevant, impactful, and aligned with the needs of members.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, engaging learning and development sessions (primarily online, bitesize formats).
- Support reps to apply learning in their workplace roles and to step into more active participation.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure programmes meet organisational standards for quality, accessibility and learner experience.

About this key role
You will be part of the Newham University Hospital Emergency Department Team meeting CYP (Children and Young People) at the point of presentation to the ED to offer support, with the aim to safeguard and reduce risk around the CYP. This support extends post-discharge from the ED or Hospital with our Caseworkers working with the CYP and the professional networks to ensure the CYP voice is front and centre, this is to support the betterment of the CYP and their future, as well as reducing risks. This is done through providing 121 support in formulating the support plan with the CYP. This can also include supporting the family and advocating for them and CYP within the wider professional network.

As a Grant Programme Manager, you will oversee a multi-country grant portfolio, ensure strong financial stewardship, drive performance against strategic targets and strengthen partnerships with programme partners and donors.
Responsibilities
We are seeking a motivated Grant Programme Manager to join our Global Programmes team within GIF. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a complex grant portfolio and ensuring effective delivery, financial oversight and strategic alignment.
- Oversee and manage a portfolio of Small Farm Fund projects across multiple countries, ensuring delivery against BCI strategy and BCSS targets.
- Lead grant application and assessment processes, including reviewing proposals, analysing organisational viability and contributing to funding recommendations.
- Ensure effective financial stewardship of donor funds, reviewing budgets, tracking expenditure and identifying risks or corrective actions where required.
- Monitor and evaluate portfolio performance, ensuring robust data quality, learning integration and continuous improvement.
- Represent GIF in internal governance forums, including the Field Investment and Innovation Committee, contributing to funding decisions and strategic discussions.
- Engage with donors and external stakeholders, supporting reporting, relationship management and future funding opportunities.
- Support Large Farm Fund and Knowledge Partner Fund rounds, including assessment, monitoring and stakeholder engagement.
- Strengthen grant management systems and processes, identifying and implementing improvements to enhance efficiency, compliance and transparency.
- Collaborate closely with country programme teams, MEL colleagues and finance teams to ensure coordinated delivery and alignment across functions.

Experience
We are looking for candidates with the following skills, knowledge and experience:
- Degree in Agronomy, International Development, Anthropology or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex grant or project portfolios within rural development or sustainability contexts.
- Experience working with commercial and institutional donors, including proposal development and reporting.
- Strong financial oversight experience, including reviewing budgets and financial performance.
- Experience using MEL frameworks, logframes and performance monitoring tools.
- Willingness to travel for project visits twice a year (trips of between 7-10 days), and up to 2 trips per year for team/organisational meetings in Europe. If the successful applicant is based in one of our programme countries ie. CDI, India or Pakistan, the number of project visits would be greater.

The Role
- Lead the budgeting process, ensuring that all budget holders set realistic budgets, and work with the Director of Finance to ensure that organisational priorities are reflected in proposed budgets.

Essential Skills

The purpose of the job is to take responsibility for:
- The timely and accurate delivery of all statutory, fiscal, financial and management reporting, up to and including Board level presentation.
- The design, approval, implementation and maintenance of all necessary financial policies, processes and procedures to support the risk management framework.
- The approval, implementation, maintenance and continuing development of a ‘fit for purpose’ accounting software system.
- Liaison with 3rd party providers / advisors and internal staff to ensure full compliance with the timely delivery of agreed financial requirements.
- The maintenance and accuracy of core financial and non-financial data.
- Understand the use of, calculate and monitor all reserves, paying specific attention to ‘free’ reserves; ensure that appropriate reserves policies are documented, approved, implemented and followed.
- Monitor all income & expenditure against Budgets and Forecasts, providing appropriate analyses on a timely basis and appropriate and commensurate action to mitigate adverse variances.
- Monitor, manage and report on non-‘free’ reserves income & expenditure (specifically including Restricted Funds).
- Ensure all balance sheet accounts are regularly and accurately reconciled, with appropriate signoffs in place.
- Prepare and obtain approval for long term forecasts (I&E, balance sheets, reserves and cash flows).
- Manage the year-end audit, act as principal point of contact for Auditors and other 3rd parties on planning (including investment valuations), timetable management, preparation of accounts, data collation and responding to audit queries.

What You’ll Be Doing:
The Community Fundraising Executive works closely with the National Community Fundraising Manager to deliver short and mid-term strategic plans and priorities for the function. The role is responsible for growing community awareness of the charity and driving fundraising activity across the region to meet income targets by proactively seeking out creating new opportunities and relationships. The key areas of activity the role is responsible for include generating and building relationships with community groups, organisations, volunteers and supporters, identifying new opportunities and leads within the region that will generate new income streams for the charity, and presenting to local organisations and groups within the region.
